    🌻 ABOUT COSMOPOLITAN CORNBREAD 🌻
    In 2016 my husband and I retired from active duty army family life and planted roots in Alabama. We started a homestead from scratch, and shared that journey here on UA-cam. In 2022 we answered the call to the mountains of Arkansas, where we are starting that journey once again.
    I post videos to encourage families to embrace growing food, cooking real food and living a simpler, slower, faith-filled life. I am a whole bible believer, and share my passions for the home and the Father.
    Here on Cosmopolitan Cornbread some of what you will see include:
    🌻 Cooking from Scratch 🌻Homesteading
    🌻 Raising Chickens 🌻 Raising Goats
    🌻 Gardening 🌻 Organic Gardening 🌻 Food Preservation
    🌻 Bible Devotionals 🌻 Faith 🌻Whole Bible 🌻
    🌻 Women Homesteaders 🌻DIY 🌻 Natural Living 🌻 Natural Health
    🌻 Home Ec Lessons 🌻 How to Cook, Bake and Can
    Getting back to the basics as the Father intended.
    #gardening #homestead #slowliving

      Happy Birthday Mr. S ! Happy Anniversary also to you both! I loved Israeli melons in Colorado when we lived there. If you're successful with growing them, save me a few seeds! We relocated to south central Missouri 4 years ago.🎉

    Awwww love the way you did your garden. Such creative ideals on keeping the critters out.
    You have me curious about the double fencing to keep the deer out. I would love to hear more about that.
    For the last 3 years, I have been fighting against them. For years, I had beautiful gardens - one potato area not fenced in. For 8 years, never a problem. Suddenly, they started eating the potato plants and jumping the fence to my other garden. As soon as things come up, they attack it. Also, darn groundhogs - they love eating tomatoes.

    Glad to see you enjoying playing in the dirt again! Here, too, I have to fence everything because of rabbits and deer! A true annoyance! One good thing about the deer is they kept my sweet potato vines under control with their nibbling last year.

    Hah... l love your Most serious Cats, at the end... 😊 Your garden is certainly coming along, Constance... that time out, to catch up with yourself, has certainly paid off. I wonder if deer are deterred by peppermint, like mice are... 🤔 l must look it up! And l can see some melon jam on the horizon...mmm, yum! 🍉 Love, hugs and prayers, continuing... 😊❤🫂✝️

    I was wondering how to do the fencing to keep the deer out? I've heard about the double fencing but not instructions on how to set it up. Could you share the info?

    • @CosmopolitanCornbread
      @CosmopolitanCornbread  5 місяців тому +3

      It’s simply 2 fences, 6 feet apart. The deer can’t judge the distance and are put off by the two rows, so they won’t jump it. It’s an old method I read about years ago in a book. Living Traditions Homestead tried it and it has worked for them!

    Question.....with your herbs..do you hang them upside down to dry and then bottle?

    • @CosmopolitanCornbread
      @CosmopolitanCornbread  5 місяців тому

      I usually do that if I am drying a small amount. I have used a dehydrator in the past, but I find air drying to be easier. I do have a hanging rack for drying herbs - amzn.to/4b3I53K - and that is handy for drying a lot of herbs at once.

    • @CosmopolitanCornbread
      @CosmopolitanCornbread  3 місяці тому

      I replaced the soil in 3 of the beds, and working with the bed that seemed to be doing well, and then built more beds with new soil. It was a huge hit to the wallet, but it is what it is :)

      I am on the carnivore diet. I usually buy my meat from local farmers with small heard's not very many small operations use it in the South Carolina. But they buy hay sometimes too. I've educated several people out my way. You just never know. Thank you for the information.

    Why do you refer to your husband as "Mr. Smith"? Why so formal? Just wondering...
