  • Possibly our favourite ride out of our 2021 Scotland Tour. Set your device to view in the highest setting👍👍
    This route should really go in our Best Biking Roads collection.
    The Yamaha MT10 and Triumph Street Triple proved ideal for this route. Its stunningly beautiful, fast in place, technical and about as much fun as you can have riding a motorcycle.

      Well I'm rapidly approaching 60 but honestly when I get my gear on and climb on a motorbike, I feel exactly like I did on my RD250LC in 81.
      This day in particular was a day everything came together. Brilliant weather, empty roads, great bikes and filming gear that just worked with no suicidal fly splats. I shall enjoy watching this back in a few years when maybe I can't swing a leg over a motorbike.
      Cheers and take care

    Simply stunning, the footage, the scenery, the drone work, the weather, doesn't get any better than that. Carol's Triumph sounds awesome as the revs climb. Loving the 360 as others have said before, thanks for sparing us all those 'special effects' they are capable of. Do you think the Pico's is worth a punt next year? I have a voucher that I have to spend by July.

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Paul, yes it all came together for this vid. You know as I was editing I thought that about Carol's bike. Sounds better than mine under hard acceleration!
      As for the Picos, yes go for it👍 I'm pretty sure Brittany Ferries won't allow me to push our tickets back again as we have the economy ones so hopefully we will be going next year.

    • @RichardASK
      @RichardASK 2 роки тому +1

      I did the Picos in May 2014 on my Blackbird and although the scenery is spectacular at times, the weather can also be awful. Up high, it was 1degC and we had snow, but at lower altitude it was lovely, but was it better, than Richard and Carol's trip in Scotland? I'd say no. Just my view obviously. Let's face it, the best biking is almost always determined by the weather.

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk  2 роки тому

      @@RichardASK Yep weather weather makes or breaks a biking holiday. A few years ago the same 4 of us rode down through France did the Millau Bridge and rode down to Carcassonne. For a couple of days there it was simply too hot to ride!
      We had the same in the Picos, rode up the N621 to the deer statue one day it was 26C full sun and yet the following day we needed to do 150 miles south going again past the deer statue toward Rhiano and it was 3C and rain and snow!
      The thing is with us UA-camrs we tend to only show the good stuff!

    • @paullee6663
      @paullee6663 2 роки тому

      @@RichardASK No arguement from me on any of the points you've mentioned. I went to the Picos in 2018 and 2019 in July, and even at that time of year it was 5'C between the peaks and the valleys. I've been very lucky with the weather, I only had a couple of days rain. I'd love to try Scotland, but the 7 hour plus sat on a motorway just to get to Glencoe fills me with dread...and then of course there is the uncertainty of the weather.

    Great video. Your audio sounds excellent, and that is definitely the best way to use those Insta's, just the one lens in use.
    I have to say, I'm not overly impressed with mine. Fiddly to edit if you want the 360 effects, and absolutely terrible in the wet. Those lenses get filthy very quickly.
    Bikes sound lovely when you both make em sing !!👍👍

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk  2 роки тому

      Filming in 150 view saves loads of time in the edit, I use now more as a single lens stabilised action cam.
      If I'm filming in 360 I like to keep the footage short as like you say it's a laborious and labour intensive editing it.
      As for filming in the wet, I just don't want to do it, looks awful, not enough light enters the camera. If I absolutely needed to film in the rain with audio I would get my old super reliable Gopro 4 back on the job.

    A superb video. Having spent many years racing as you know, I am genuinely impressed by Carol and your road positioning for bends, my goodness the girl has got good! Time for a track day to embarrass the young heroes perhaps? This video underlined the problem of riding in a group where the fastest riders dictate speed, unless its with my sons who ride to known preferences, I stopped going on rides with groups except Club Rides on cruisers as I find it a pain. Not having a pop at your companions, it just rang a bell so to speak!

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk  2 роки тому +1

      Carol will ride her own ride that she's comfortable with. Our friends were not far ahead and we've ridden with these guys for many years and completely trust them.
      At the end of the day we ride for the enjoyment. We all knew where we were heading and to be honest in our little group I don't think anyone ever feels pressure to go faster than they want.
      As for track days.... maybe one day.
      Always good to hear from you Paul

    From the green Welly to oban is one of my favourite roads know it like the back of my hand. The road from Lix toll to tyndrum was another banger until some kill joy covered it in average speed cameras. Too many people in the UK sleep on Scotland for biking, often preferring to go to Southern France or Spain. Our bad weather gets blown way out of proportion and if you go any time from mid April till mid October you have a good chance of it at least being dry if not overly warm.

    Hi, just out of interest, how many spare batteries do you carry for the insta360? I am 50/50 whether I'm going to keep mine as I used it as a "point back at me" camera the other day on single direction and I was actually pretty impressed. I didn't have to do much colour correction or lift the shadows. And the added bonus of making me look thinner. hahaha. Also have you tried running the 360 with a battery pack attached to it? Like you can with the gopros? Thanks in advance mate. FastyRides.

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, thanks for watching. Yes I have two spare Insta 360 One X2 batteries both are slightly lower capacity than the original that came with the camera but I've found the 3 plenty sufficient for a day out on tour, they last so much longer than Gopro and the camera doesn't overheat and shut down.
      The set up on the chin looks a bit of a lash up with the Insta, Rode receiver and audio adapter but I like the results and the ease I can record both carol and myself onto just one camera already synced up.
      As the audio adapter already fits in where I normally charge the Insta I haven't attempted to power the camera through the port on the adapter. I'm also concerned about not getting any cables in shot when in 360.
      Cheers Richard

      @@Banditmanuk Thanks Richard. I must admit I am rather jealous of yours and Carols audio. It is crystal clear. And your set up is perfect for you 2. I think the rode wireless thingy you have is a great way to record you both in conversation instead of the way I do it with a load of wires inside the helmet coming from the cardo system. I think its time I bought some more batteries or try the connecting a battery pack. Thanks again buddy. Lovely roads and scenery in your video. How lucky was you have such nice weather. Fasty
