  • **Technicians should always de-trim the vehicle when it makes sense for the job at hand. The main point of this video is to show that using these fast curing, high productivity coatings to repair very minor damage can be an effective way to provide an additional valuable service to a customer that has brought their car in for more involved collision repairs.
The kind of damage we’re addressing are minor scrapes, scratches or small dings that a customer can opt to pay for at a reasonable cost since the car is already in the shop. It was not necessary to pull the bumper and headlight for this repair as there was a small gap that the technician could mask for the repair. If no such gap exists, de-trimming is the best and only option.
De-trimming may increase the cost to a point where the customer sees no benefit in having the repairs completed, resulting in lost additional repairs and income for the shop.

This ad continues to set our industry back, "A large enough gap to not require R&I's". To push your product you advocate improper repair methods which insurers will throw in the faces of the shops who actually de-trim cars, to give their customer a pre-loss finish. If the paint and clear peel from the areas you felt did not need de-trimming does your company warranty them since they were not sanded due to access? Also love the way sanding in a paint booth is ok too.
