I was very confused about pickleball scoring. There was no one that gave me more detailed explanations than you. I'm so grateful that I now fully understand scoring a month after I started playing pickleball.
Seriously, I played for the first time for a couple of hours and I had it figured out in half an hour. Don't worry, just go out and play. The other 3 players know the score.
I recall in old time badminton with service-over, we simply call the 2nd server serve as "second serve". There is no need to add it to the scoring as 3rd number, which is useful but could be confusing to people.
I am new to pickleball and did a few searches to understand the scoring vs position of the players. I have looked at a few videos and it wasn't totally clear how it works after having seeing them. Your video is perfect to teach us that. Thanks!
We did our first clinic yesterday which was helpful in getting hands on but the scoring confused me. The word "side" was being used less clearly by the instructor and now I see why I was confused by it. They clarify odd/even from server/receiver sides. This is very helpful.

I think I’m getting the scoring when it comes to playing doubles. Also whenever you start a serve it always starts on the right before you get to switch places (assuming you scored) ? So if a side out happen and it’s your opponent’s serve (server 1) they start on the right side to serve cross court ? (Hope this question makes sense)
What I don't understand is what if you get a point (server 1) and then you serve from the other side and do not get the point. How do you know what side the second server serves from?
When a side-out occurs, whichever player on the (now) serving team is on the right side will become server 1, even though they may have been server 2 in prior side-outs.
Server 1 and 2 switch after every side out. A side out is when your opponents have lost the serve after both players have served. Help me out here, at 14:43 the score is 1-10-1. CJ starts the serve, but then misses the ball that Gary hits which lands in bounds at 14:57. At 15:00 Tony says the score is 1-10-2 in favor of the men? Why did the guys get that point? The ball hit by Gary was in, was it not? Why did the serving team (ladies) get the point on a ball that was in fair play? I'm confused.
The only rule that says where you have to stand is for the server. Essentially behind the baseline and in between an extension of the side and centerlines at the point of contact.
So does it mean only the serving side can add points when they win, and the opponent doesn't get any point even if they win this rally if they didn't serve?

Pickleball is a great game and my middle school students loved this game in our PE class. However, we modified to a simpler serving and scoring system. A player serves until they fault and then the serve goes to the other team but a point is scored on every rally (rally scoring). When the other team faults the person who did not serve on the last rally serves starting from the right. We play to 21 win by two or the first to 25. Very simple and easy way to teach it to beginners.
What makes it confusing is when the first point of the game was lost by the serving team. Nadine was 0-0-2, but then when it comes back around, she serves again first and this time is 0-5-1. What is the reasoning here? Why if a team doesn’t score a point first, when the serve comes back, the same person starts again? Why when it came back around at 0-5, wasn’t CJ serving? I think the 0-0-2 start when there is a side out makes it confusing the rest of the game. Is it simply to keep the serving count “fair”?

Us tennis players have a hard time with this sport. Tennis scoring doesn't make sense either. Can't understand why this sport is so popular and spec tennis is not in but I have to learn how to play it.

Running into an growing number of people complaining about not being able to track the trajectory of the pickleball because of it's color - indoors and outdoors. Is this something you guys are aware of?
I'm not aware of anything new. Indoors it is usually more difficult because of floor and wall colors. I know that personally this time of year, (I play on a shaded court and the sun is lower in the horizon) I have a hard time tracking the ball later in the day. There are a lot of different colors so if one doesn't work give another a try.

I will have to watch this video twice. pickleball scoring may be "easy" ... but it CERTAINLY is not as easy to understand as ping pong or tennis. It's VERY complex compared to either of those two.

Correct, only the serving team can score points in a game that uses traditional scoring.

I think the camera makes it looks my foot was on the line. If it was, and it was close. I hit a volley so no it would not be legal.
