This particular recording is absolutely superb. The pace is gentle, sultry and golden. The evocation of warmth, sadness, yearning and an exquisite tenderness is, I think, captured perfectly. The other tracks are equally fine.
Thank you for posting a restored edition of my scratchy old album. It is such a pleasure to hear this wonderful recording without hiss and pop. A wonderful find for me!
A somewhat slow version of this (Bernie often took rather slow tempos in his London recordings) but Herrmann's attention to detail and musicality make it work as an alternative reading of this work.
Haste makes waste. Herrmann was getting more introspective in his later years, not tired ( he was only 64). We need his unique musical perspectives in today's rushed world.
You have no soul sir, come back when you have lived a few more decades and you can appreciate feeling, melancholy, reflection-perhaps you never will and can only respond to the obvious.
Just wonderfull !!!
Beautiful. Why is this piece not more well known? Herrmann giving it large with the LPO here! Lush!!
Such lush, hypnotic relaxing music.🥀

Me too!

Beautiful. Definitely requires a slower, introspective mood. The entire album is pretty incredible.
This version reminds me for some reason, of parts of Vaughan Williams oboe concerto.

Out character, but interesting. Honegger played as if it were Delius. Languid, sultry summer, too hot to move.

Boring
You clearly have no imagination or the faculty to appreciate beauty, how very sad.
