Synopsis
Agua, a 66 year old Mongolian hunter and retired economist, recounts an ancient Mongolian proverb about the possibility of a meeting between man and wolf: “If a wolf never shows itself to a man , it is said that that man has less luck than a wolf. If a man is able to see a wolf it is said that he has the same luck as a wolf. But if a man hunts a wolf it is then said that he is someone with more luck than a wolf, and that is a lot.” Agua, needless to say, has hunted many wolves. Perets, an Israeli wolf researcher and Nature Reserves Ranger, is involved in the preservation of Israel's unique wolf population. He puts his own luck to the test as he travels to the vast Mongolian prairie to confront wolf hunters pursuing the mythological predator and participates in a wolf trapping operation in the Golan Heights, led by an American wildlife expert. Will the wolf show itself to Perets? Can man dwell with wolf or will he hunt it to extinction? A journey from Israel to Mongolia and back, revealing two cultures, different in their beliefs and attitudes towards the rhythm of nature and its wildlife.
