Demetrious is the man. I saw him on an elevator at a hotel in Bellevue, Washington, in 2015. My wife and I were going to have breakfast when the elevator stopped on a lower floor. Dude casually walked inside and I instantly recognized him. I was afraid to say something because I didn't want to get my feelings hurt. I finally said, "hey, are you Mighty Mouse Johnson?" he turned and said, "I am." I was so excited. I was 50 at the time - guess the kid in us never leaves. But dude said hello and even took a photo with me. It warms my heart to say I was touched by his generosity.
I just wanna thank you Demetrius 🙏🏻 I got into MMA after watching you 2 years ago. Last month I won State MMA tournament in India. You are one of my biggest inspirations and you'll always be my GOAT🙏🏻❤️
18 years fighting and he just learned how to cross distance safely 2 years ago that means even if you are the goat you are still learning , thanks for the breakdown mighty
This is a great breakdown. As a short person with shorter reach I always have to deal with spacing and crossing that void. Everyone I’ve ever trained or sparred with is taller. I’m not a grappler so I like to be inside their strike zone and throw kicks. I like how you’re addressing your grappling issues in this match. We all know it’s easier to look later and see the missed opportunities. Sometimes we’re in a different zone and can’t see these openings. It’s definitely a brain training thing, imo.
What a breakdown. This just re enforces what you taught at the striking seminar back in January about distance management! If DJ is ever in your area for a seminar it's most def worth the money!
I train with Adriano Moraes in BJJ at American Top Team in Florida, and I've had so many nice and genuine interactions with him that its still crazy to think both of you have fought eachother! Adriano is a true martial artist like you DJ, both of you guys are down to earth and humble, as well as inspiring to watch! Keep up the amazing content as always
only a true warrior would be willing to go over his biggest lost in this way mad respect MM. I've always thought you were amazing, but thank you for showing us all just how underrated you were the WHOLE time.
I just watched two of your fights both adriano moraes fights 1&2 and i gotta say your a inspiration i started mma and muay thai because of you your the GOAT of all mma
Didn't mighty mouse fight Moraes 3 times? Or am I tripping? EDIT: Nvm, I just searched it and found that mighty actually fought Adriano 3 times and DJ won the 2 other rematches
Great breakdown! Can't wait to see the breakdown of the next one between y'all. PS: Thanks for the heads up about Haggerty's fight! He's always a blast to watch. Sadly, my introduction to him was in Rodtang highlight clips, getting his liver shredded, but I've gotten to see more of him, and he's great!
Your humility, openness to criticism, and constant striving to become a better fighter have resulted in you being one of the greatest fighters of all time.
You both have very similar fighting styles. It would be my worst fear to go up against someone who matches my own abilities and knows your every move through watching tapes. It’s like facing a shadow version of yourself and the chess game of fighting becomes even more tightly matched. What a great rivalry this started and I loved that you came back and won again. Everything just builds you up into something greater and you never know har far you can truly go until you get pushed like this. What a GOAT 🐐 ❤
I feel like one of the many things that makes you so good is you can lol at this fight and see what you did wrong where you can fix it and what you need to do. Thank you for braking this fight down
DJ. youre the most humble, unappreciated world champion thats ever lived. youre the GOAT in my opinion. in more ways than one. we are blessed to have you making videos on youtube. keep it up! i dont sub to anyone on here but im subbed you to.
the reason I consider you pound for pound best mma fighter ever (at least top 2) is because how you came back from this loss and got the knockout in the rematch and then beat him again in the trilogy fight, you have that champion mindset that can't be taught, obviously it helps to be an extremely gifted athlete as well lol. But you have always been the most entertaining fighter for me to watch, you can see the passion you have for the game and look forward to your next fight. It will be selfishly a sad day when you decide to hang the gloves up, but no one can do this forever. Regardless when you retire you will go down as a goat of the sport with a hall of fame career.
That’s amazing how you were able to see your deficits during the fight , that looked very frustrating. You are definitely an intelligent fighter. I would have liked to see you throw a couple elbows after the first knee out of the clench, elbows are very underrated in mma, then go back to the knees. Nice breakdown CHAMP 👍
Only the goat reviews his own losses like a boss man so much love for you dj danas loss ben swap worked out well for you and you got even more love then went on to dominate one legendary underrated GOLDEN GOAT❤❤❤❤ 🇦🇺
You are the ultimage GOAT. One of the very very few people I actually look up to. Disciplined, professional, humble, no scandals, family man. Thank you for being yourself!!
DJ I’m a huge fan, I’m nowhere at your level, but my input would be when your facing taller guys hell bent on moving later on you switch stance a little, he’s orthodox you could go south paw and play with him at the edge don’t commit to closing but slowly pick away at his movement by throwing a lead leg kick to his right leg when he’s circling that way, mix it up two low one high surprise him and make him adapt his game to get him outta comfort, you kick him enough times he’ll slow down either from the leg kicks or questions of wether you’ll go high or low then go for you plans on closing distance, aside from that whenever your throwing your kicks get a good read on how he like to counter them and set a counter for his counter if he closes distance you’re a good on the inside range, so pick him apart, much love bro, and thank for all the great vids
Love the breakdown Mighty Mouse! My take is you have to predict which side your opponent is going to go lateral when you close the distance. Inch forward > Immediately predict a side to make sure he doesn't get away. Manny Paq had the same problem in the Mayweather fight in that he never tried to go left or right when he had Mayweather against the ropes.
18 years fighting and he just learned how to cross distance safely 2 years ago meanwhile DJ 2 years ago: absolute legend of MMA, 12 title fights wins in ufc that's crazy
man I really wish UFC would allow knees to "grounded" opponents. Makes the game so much different and more interesting, and would get rid of at least one "foul" that always seems to happen and ruin fights, because we know there are plenty of others that constantly come up.
Dj is really the goat. He has always been the goat there is a picture with him and John Jones he is holding up the 1 Jones is holding up the 2. 😮 this man is the goat
One of the hardest parts of fighting is staying focused. Like you Said when you realized you were holding on to his arm for No reason, you lost focus for a little bit. And in a fight, All it takes is 1 second where ur not fully focused

bro great analysis! as a tall guy, i always find it difficult to fight shorter guys. range and lateral movement is the name of the game, as well as maybe straight kicks, uppercuts, and judo-like grappling skills so you defend your close game and switch it back to range game. any suggestions on that? bttw, where does Demetrious come from? do you have a greek root, or is it an orthodox name?
Hey DJ could you do a breakdown of my first professional MMA fight to show me as well as a lot of new fighters out there a few pointers and how to deal with nerves
Thanks for the great content I'm a short mma fighter and I always lose every striking exchange unless I get to the clinch when I start using muay thai or judo shit in order to take the fight down
Love seeing your breakdowns, Hey did you plan to get him back with a knee in the second one or did it just kinda happen? Lol either way you def payed him back, He still an incredible fighter tho that's for sure
I think the hardest thing is to be knocked out and come back from it mentally stronger . Many never ever look thebsame after they go out like roy jones rhonda rousey. You not only ovwr came that but came bqck to beat that person twice in a trilogymoments like this define greats this also proved at lighter weights the one guys were too tier whereas ben asscream proved at higher weights ufc far superior. Mad respect for having a loss like this being able to talk about it and overcoming it
This guy and Ngannou. Living testament to how the UFC needs new management. These guys are actual sports phenoms. They could be promoting the company as we speak. But Dana wants to keep it the dana show. Its so short sighted
Can’t always be Ws lol
you still the pound for pound best dawg
You beat Cejudo in the second fight. We know you ran that division.
PLUS in the above Fight moraes was a fkin lightweight
Mouse, review the fight between the tough fighter Demetrius Johnson and Rothdang.
You were NEVER boring to watch sir, winning or losing it was like class was in session.
Still can't stand that Dana said that ish.

Dj got sniped! ;)
@@ItsMrTerriblemoraes got killed in the rematch ;)
