Retzlaff's issue with the bad throws and poor footwork etc is cuz he's too in love with off-platform throws. He throws off-platform when it's not needed and when a more traditional throwing motion would've given him a better chance to complete the pass. He won't change until coaches hold him accountable for the resultant mistakes and poor execution and make him use good mechanics and fundamentals.
There is a huge difference between 0-3 Wyoming and 3-0 13th ranked K-State
I think Retzlaff is our guy. The key for this game will be if ARod lets him fling the ball. Not having a good running game may be the best thing that has happened this year. We have the best WRs, TEs in the game and we're going to have to use them.
We just might look like a BYU offense this year! Blaine is right. I can stomach a few interceptions if we have K-State on its heels.
I just don't want us to try establishing the run in the 4th quarter... ARod's calling card. In ARod's defense he has been EXTREMELY clever in a crisis... remember the play at Arkansas, the first series of the 1st quarter and the last series of the 2nd quarter during the Baylor game when we barely beat them. He has a mind, just don't know why he doesn't use it.
I do know why... analytics has taken over thinking in this game. They think all of the answers to win a game is in the data... if we play that way, we only deserve to win 4 games.
Blaine, a better defense would have had at least two more picks in the last game. He will not get away with sloppy throws against KSU
A massive problem everyone ignores is third down conversions. It is pathetic, and relying on 4th downs is not an answer. You cannot win when you convert less than 25% of your third downs.
A statement game opportunity. Will BYU rise to the occasion? Or will they fumble, stumble, and bumble?
I would love to see a win. But...I really hope they keep it competitive... I know a moral wins suck but K.S. looks pretty darn good...if we lose I would be ok with losing by 8 or less points. But I have faith😁...Go Cougs!!!
