What I love about Grindelwald is that he does not seek power, he wishes to change the wizarding world, For the Greater Good, as his motto says. If I was there I would probably go to him as Queenie did. He is not Voldemort, Mr. No-Nose Man is pure evil, he enjoyed killing people for fun. Whereas Grindelwald killed people for reasons and yet again he never seeked power, he wished to change the wizarding world For the Greater Good. Johnny will always be our true Grindelwald, we will FIGHT until he gets his role back.
I mean he was obsessed with the deathly hallows, I would call that seeking power. He actually had an agenda even if it involved taking over the muggle world. But he is right isn't he? Magicals are 'worth' more than muggles, after all anything a muggle can do a magical can do too but not the other way around.
Man I'm really sad that Mads is taking Johnny's place as Grindelwald, especially since I heard there's going to be a big fight scene in the upcoming movie. Don't get me wrong, Mads is an amazing actor, but dammit why couldn't they have waited to fire Johnny until after the new movie. (Preferably not at all, but beggars can't be choosers)
A lot of people say Voldemort is stronger and it's hard to tell since there is no source material of Grindelwald. But Voldemort IS like 30 years older than Grindelwald when we see the two of them and he still couldn't take over the school with Dumbledore dead. I can't even imagine how strong Grindelwald would be 30 years down the line if he didn't lose to Dumbledore. Why Voldemort didn't take over everywhere else first before attacking Hogwarts, who knows? Grindelwald is simply smarter. Dude gave Hogwarts a wide berth and focused on other places. Or smarter to say, he gave Dumbledore a wide berth. Not the school.

He was defeated not because he was weak, but because the elder wand wouldn't attack its owner, so his curse rebounded. This is one of the many mistakes in the movies.

VOldemort is not more powerful on raw power wise, he just has alot of political power and fear. Grindewald has mastery on many different magical direction, but Voldemort is just master of Dark arts.
