It is awfully hard to sing a song that was so popular like Differebt Drum which was first popular with the beautiful voice of Linda Ronstadt, but Carrie Underwood did an amazing job with this one. Just beautiful.
Agreed. Carrie Underwood KILLED IT. She sang chorus in a few other songs at the Linda Ronstadt's induction ceremony and her voice dominated. Of course, she's young and in her prime, while the other ladies are, perhaps, a bit past their primes (sadly).
She’s great but nobody can sing like Linda. It’s like singing Whitney Houston songs, you are just never going to top it, but 2nd is quite an accomplishment.
One of few MODERN singers who can at least come close to Linda's range & emotion. Kudos Carrie.

you can really tell that she listened to the original many times. the passion is there and it seems so natural for her. keeping linda and her musical talent alive makes me so happy. carrie did an outstanding job.

Nitpick alert - Linda's isn't the original version. It was first written/performed by Mike Nesmith.
Many find it necessary to compare her to Linda which really isn’t necessary. She does a fantastic job with it and her version should be enjoyed for its own merits; after all, it is a TRIBUTE to Linda Ronstadt, not a competition with her.

Exactly. Carrie was the perfect choice to sing this song as a tribute to Linda who is one of a kind. So is Carrie in her own right. One day someone will be honoring Carrie at the Kennedy Honors by singing one of her songs and I hope it is as good of a cover as she did for Linda.

The entire “CBS Orchestra” (David Letterman’s house band) is the backing band here. In addition to Paul Schaffer, the band members are Will Lee on bass, Felicia Collins on Guitar, Sid McGinnis on slide guitar and Anton Fig on drums.

I’ve watched this many times now, and I swear every time I catch a glimpse of the huge photos of Linda projected in the background I catch my breath and something clutches at my heart. What timeless images. Part of my life right there.

Carrie was phenomenal as per her usual but the real stars were this collaborative band, my gosh they were fantastic! I just feel they should get a shout out too, they are the best of the best.

Amazing job considering how different they sound. Two unique talents. Linda is tied for my favorite female vocalist of all time with Karen Carpenter. I cried when Karen died and I cried when I heard that Linda couldn't perform anymore.

I was just listening to another channel here on UA-cam that Linda Rondstat had lost her ability to speak and hear ,this destroyed me ,but a few min later they said her speech had come back somewhat ,but the hearing is becoming more of a problem,I’ve always been a huge fan of her music ,may God bless her .
