Sunline kept me through a lot of bad times. When my life was not going well, Sunline kept me up and trying. I'm here today with still nothing as of 24-4-2024. But my memories of Sunline and my many photos of her at Pukekohe and her wins which I recorded on VHS and are now no longer available will live on for me at least.
@@stevenbright1540Sunline sits in pretty rarified air. In her generation / modern era she's solidly in an argument for a top 10 best distaffer. I know ratings don't always tell the whole story ... but she is rated alongside some of the truly great female racehorses. Makybe Diva, Oija Board, Zenyatta, Enable, Goldikova, Almond Eye, Treve, Zarkava and a handful of others finished their careers with similar ratings. Two stand head and shoulders above these though based on ratings alone... Black Caviar and Winx. The thingbwith Sunline is that we know exactly just how good she was. She raced a number of horses that were rated either as high as she was or even higher. Northerly, Lohnro, Jim and Tonic and Fairy King Prawn. The issue with both Black Caviar and with Winx is we most likely ever bottomed out either... Zenyatta's career was the same to a certain extent. Winx's opposition was not stellar... but the way she disposed of Hartnell (124) by 8L eased up in the 2016 Cox Plate is proof enough to me. Sunline would have needed to beat Northerly by 4L to have run to the same figure in 2001... and Winx ran nearly 3 secs faster. How you rate them without using Timeform or IFHA Ratings depends on your own definition of greatness. My own opinion is that, if were able to have both Sunline and Winx at their peaks Winx would win more times than she lost. But this is for sure... Winx never raced anything that would have blown wind up.Sunline's butt 😂
Sunline, my all time favourite. Always missed.
