Yo are you gonna make anymore Battlebit content?
You guys are killing it with these videos
words can’t describe how much i value this channel
I love the content. 20" is straight beast mode. That 18" build is beautiful
Been saying this for so long, and you nailed it. 16” and up makes 55gr M193 “plinking ammo” into a great defensive round.
Thousands of NVA and VC already knew that.
Underrated comment of the year
This is the way.

20 inch barrel makes wolf defensive ammo
I love that you show your misses. I hate watching great/entertaining content and wondering weather or not it is reliable and honest.
I love how honest this channel is. Very open about those misses. Makes me feel a little better.
There's a reason I invested in a dot+magnifier for my 16 in AR. My area is very built up, but is broken up by open spaces, parks, creek beds, or canals. I'm also 20 minutes from open country.
This is exactly what my goals are. I want as much capability as possible with as rugged materials as I can afford. I don't want 6 AR's. I want 2, with plenty of extra barrels, firing pins, BCG's etc.. to keep them running. A lot of parts on a gun can run indefinitely if they are good (like a handguard or stock).
Six ar's is six sets of spare parts. And a few spares for the neighbors. Just saying.
Six ARs are rookie numbers, brother. They seem to multiply at my house. 😂
I really appreciate these high quality and informative videos, guys. I was super stoked to hear yalls opinons from the very beginning of your channel and that you are in this great state!
Y’all are killing all of this. Please keep this channel at this rate of information and passion.
Yep- just got a 13.7 barrel in 1:8. It's for my "do all" build.
What company you go with?
@Jesse Robinson don’t see any vids on your channel with your rifles, no doubt you have gun safe savior🚮
@@austen9308 so if you don’t have a UA-cam channel with videos of you shooting, that means you don’t use them? That’s some retarded logic
@@austen9308 Until shtf it's all basically larping for those civilians polishing their skills (without a military or leo background). Doesn't have to be a bad thing, but it's nice to be realistic about it.
@@TacticalTerry larping is better than being a stagnant civilian and not exercising your right to bear arms🤙🏼
Solid information. F in the chat for the loose suppressor.

If you've ever missed the target a few times and checked that suppressor hoping that it was loose, hit that subscribe button.
I saw one video and now am full in love with your content keep going. Greetings from Argentina for all the amazing data you show me
Love the honesty and the humble misses thanks for not editing that out.
Really good to see all of the shooting including misses. I definitely feel a lot better about my setups.
We need more videos like this out there, I know guys with 4 GPRs because they can't decide how they want to set it up and I believe that 2 refle setups is the perfect amount.
One you're trained on is better than 2 you barely use.
I am requesting night vision goat milking in every video, please and thank you. For real, keep up the great content!
Y’all are killing it lately, get real excited when I see a new DC video pop up. Keep up the good work
I use to love the old plastic hand guards and the quad rails for the heat mitigation they offer. Recently though I found the hot pocket from the wise men company and it is a great solution for slim rails. It’s pretty much just a Kevlar wrap to reduce the need for gloves in high volume training sessions or competitions. Just thought I would help others out with this if they are looking for a solution like I was.
Some great arguments for not using the offset on the 18. Top mounted is much easier to use prone, plus at higher magnifications you can put your dot on target then drop down into your optic, instead of hunting for your target inside the optic.
Nice….I went with a .308 18” for 600-800 yards and a 8” 300 blk for shorter distances set up with a fixed 3x prism (may switch or add a red dot later). Reloading and having all the gear already makes purchasing ammo a non issue and having only one bullet to stock makes it a hair easier.
I like it. I went in a different direction, but similar. Decided on a 20-inch 6.5 Grendel with a variable scope and a 10.5-inch .300blk that I am waiting on my suppressor for. I like having the AR15 platform be lateral, instead of having to do a full (and much heavier) AR308 build. I have bolt rifles chambered in .308 for special use, but as far as manual of arms and training, it's nice to have lowers that I can swap around.
@@searchBLOC941 yeah I love the 308 but it’s heavy however I have it now….I’m saving up to build a 6 Arc for some more distance and weight savings.
@Mr. Husquy the Ruger SFAR is a phenomenal choice. Extremely lightweight, nearly AR15 sized, and not super costly. 6 ARC would be a fun build. I reload for all of my stuff, the Grendel being a 6.5 makes bullet options semi-plentiful, and way more cost effective. Buying factory ammo in odd calibers is still very expensive where I live. Plus, for the homies and bug out groups, I can bring some of those skills to the table with reloading.
Way better solution if your gonna have 2 rifles
@@searchBLOC941 yeah I live in a port city and feel like if anything actually happens my reloading skills will come into play since we would probably group up by blocks or streets. The Trump/Biden flags (or the Gadsden flags stickers ect.) let me know who’s more likely to need my services and those who will need more security services. Even though I don’t like 556 I still have the dies to do it since it’s so popular.
I agree that purpose built rifles are superior to a multi use weapon system but as an Infantryman in the Marines I think that I can use my M27 for close, medium, and long ranges in all environments. Of course I’d rather have a SBR for CQB but I think it’s definitely possible and very practical to have a rifle setup for all scenarios
Absolutely. How do you like the M27? They seem to be excellent rifles. Too bad they’re so heavy. With all the extra gear they’ve got you guys humping, y’all’s backs and knees will be dunzo by 30.
Great video. 👍🏻
My two purpose built setups are an 11.5 with T1, dedicated suppressed and a 16” with LPVO, blast forwarding device on the muzzle.
Same light placement/activation on both, same sling mounts, similar slings, same grips, stocks, etc.
How noticeable is an 11.5 over a 16 really in vehicles or buildings. Honestly. Your Mrs doesn't notice your 4 inches, why would anyone else.
11.3" and 16" for me. Awesome video.
I was shooting my 14.5 BCM today. Shot around 400 rounds today which...honestly, I didn't really intend to shoot that many rounds...it just kinda happened. Mostly shot at 200m. Had a good time. Also, you tripped me out at 9:43 when you looked directly into the camera and said "Nick, you might wanna put on ears"...I'm Nick too, turns out so is your camera man.
BTW, I was rewatching some of Lucas Botkins older videos and have noticed that you're in quite a few of them.
EDIT:
I also tried to hit my targets at 200 with my Glock(G19 with an RMR) and failed. I can do it at 100 fairly consistently but 200 is really hard. I saw a couple splashes that were close to the target but when I say close I mean like 1 foot away. None hit.
200 w/ a glock lol, I don't think I would even try to take that shot.
I was making 90 yard shots on a 10” plate with my G19 and RMR…it was amazing!
I run a 15.9. All the legal hate, with none of the benefits.
On serious note, great shooting. Easy to get carried away on a fun day at the range.
My do-all barrel length is 16"because I don't like extra paperwork and I also like my dog.
Don’t forget 13.7 and 14.5 pin and weld.
Would love a video (even a shorter one) on tremor 3 and why you choose it for your 18”
Thank you guys. Great content and perspectives
Great video. I’ve got a 10.3 and 14.5 urgi for this exact reason. Looking back I would’ve done an 11.5 and 18 for a little more barrel on both setups
Solid points that most don't bring up nearly as concisely. Thanks!
As always, great work. I fell into the buying all the guns faze and am crawling out now, it’s really difficult to get out of the mindset that I need all the guns. Instead I need all the training, now. And buy other guns later.
Informative content, keep it up!
Lets be real, you were on an FBI watchlist when you made this channel.
They're on it from being associated with TRex arms long before now.
Most UA-camrs don't start off with the kind of videography they have, and why it's so familiar to a lot of us, they've been doing it for years.
I've been wondering if that's not why the TRex videos haven't been being released!?
@@jw5297why are trex arms in particular on a watchlist?
I like that you show your misses and don’t pretend to be a better shooter than you are. Great video, I liked a few of your others that I saw too. Subscribed.

Love the information here!
I like what you guys have been doing the last few months. Just become a Patreon supporter. Keep up the great content.
Finally! Someone addresses the issue with lightweight hand guards being poor at insulation. Even with rail covers on the mcmr, it still heats up toa painful level after 2 mags.
I love the MCMR but to make it good you gotta get a clamp on heat dispenser for behind the gas block under the handguard.
Nice set up. And im a huge advocate of having two rifles that shoot the same round take the same mags but work off each other and over lap in capabilities. I have a 14.5 that will be a 10.5 that is good up to 200 w/ a red dot. And I’m building a 16in lpvo build that will be good up to 6-7 hundred. But also be able to work at 0-50 as well.
16" multiple of them, cleared buildings with an A2 with 203 back in 02,03,04, later in 03 early 04 ARMY was transitioning to ACOG, and we did just fine
14
lol, I remember the Marines who were clearing with those old ass M16s.
@@zerofox2030 And getting it done
Half-stocking is essential.
@@Dread_Pirate_Homesteader 14 what??? Inch, or 14 16" ARs lol.
I can see the value of a 12" barrel, maybe even a 10.5" but in the reality of an actual fighting rifle, 16" is the sweet spot. Short enough to make movement in a structure easier, but long enough to get all it can out of the round.
I mean if you're Rangering it up, breaching doors and doing all your fighting inside a structure then hell yeah go 10.5, but as many who've been to classes, or watched enough YT you'll know that door kicking and structure to structure fighting is not what you want to be doing in a SHTF situation, unless absolutely necessary.
If it was the intention to have a rifle for storming buildings I'd be building a 10" AR in 300blk out or 9mm and suppressing it, running subsonic ammo only.
Really great video and break down. For me though I meet in the middle with a 13.9 with 1-8 LPVO and red dot. So I have just one rifle I need to grab just in case.
love the content man keep up the great videos
I truly appreciate your comments on ammo
Great video but commented to say love the podcast and I hope it because more frequent..I really enjoyed them and learned alot
Well done and well said.
Fantastic video, gents. Keep this information coming!
About 4 1/2 minutes in where you were taking about the quad rails and heat issues. I go with a light mlok handguard then use rail covers. Lighter and more comfortable too
I do the same as well. I shot 400 rounds through a BCM today at a pretty consistent pace and never once did my rail get so hot I couldn't hold it. I am using Slate Black Industries rail covers. They work great and have a nice aesthetic. I personally really like the BCM MCMR handguard. Geissele mlok rails are nice too.
Awesome videos guys. Keep up the hard work.
Loving these videos… keep up the good work sir!
Great video! Currently working on my 13.7 video but in the future will prob move to a 2 gun approach
*"They spit Facts, Not opinions"*
Good work guys :)
WoW … UA-cam actually recommended a gun channel I have never seen …. Very good video 👍
Looks like a great place to shoot. I enjoyed the video. I think we get caught up with gear and not training like you did in the video. Thanks.
Great production
A 16" 5.56 AR is perfectly adequate for the most likely scenarios and are a good "do all" option. My do-all rifle is a 12.5" and keeps up with my 16" ARs in terms of drop and drift (D&D) within 300 yards, before D&D causes hit probability to tank in anything but ideal conditions. My 16" barrel adds about 100-150 yards of useful range and the 18" adds another 50-100 (based on my real world observations of quality factory and hand loads loaded with 69 & 77gr SMK's. Terminal and external ballistics is going to be almost entirely ammo dependent.
Keep up the great content guys! I get excited every time a video drops
This was the video I was waiting for.
An Admin/Dirty Civ collab now needs to be a thing.
You guys are doing great work
I agree with hand guard but ill get one of those pencils thin ones soon maybe I love my lmt build .
My main go to is my LSA TX15 MPC-E Recce. Its got a NF NX8 1-8 with an offset holosun 403B, Modlite, emissary. will be getting a suppressor soon. Barrel is 13.9
My truck gun is a custom one i built. Simple Aimpoint Pro and modlite.
I'd say 3 is even more ideal: 1) 10.5" for home defense or vehicle; 2) 12.5" with red dot and magnifier for midrange work; 3) 13.7-13.9 with acog or LPVO for midrange to longer range work, but still handy in tight spaces.
Love going back and forth from DC, TREX, & GT.
Love it as always
I agree! I got a 16-inch 556 with a 1x6x24 lpvo and a light, and i got an ar308 18-inch rifle with a 3x9 scope and also a 12.5 556 with a light and a vortex sparc red dot. I got around 1300 rounds, so i need to get more for sure!
A mid size ar platform 556 and fullsize (16 or better) 308. Both allow versatility, use-case overlap to some extent, while still being able to specialize if needed.
Fragmentation threshold on 55gr fmj is 2500-2550 fps on the low end that is data found by the army tests back in the day and independently confirmed by atleast one UA-camr a few years back
Good stuff! Major Fan!
Solid video man.
Oh damn, I just happen to open UA-cam as you guys posted this lol
Keep up the good work!
I run a 10.5 and 20" w/ one can between the two.
1-8x lpvo and a top dot on the 10.5, and a 4-14x44 and top dot on the 20.
Aside from scope, barrel and handguard length, they're built almost exactly the same.
Great video! Subbed!!
Took a class recently using an eotech. Blew my mind how much you can use the ring for.
you should do a video on shooting in more realistic environments. like up/down steep hills and cliffs, from the tops of trees and buildings, using the natural environment as a rest, etc. I've been out with a few hunters who could shoot 1 moa on a flat range no problem but struggle once they gotta rest on a tree limb while shooting 40 degrees up a hill after hiking for a few hours in the freezing rain
Quad Gang.. Centurion C4 , BCM QRF , and DD RIS II will always be my go too rails ..
My 2 are setup pretty much the exact same . 13.9 with G43 MAGNIFIER , EXPS3 and YHM TURBO K on Keymo Mount.
My other rig us 14.5 with 1-10×..
Thank you 😊
Move that offset dot over top of your scope. It'll make acquiring picture on higher magnification MUCH easier
Cover target with dot, drop head, adjust aim, done.
I got my first couple cans in jail and am thinking about adding another one or 2. I built a 13.9 "do it all" gun. I went all out on barrel, optic, mounts, bcg, etc. Definitely can't wait until my cans are free. I have a 11.5 that I've been running for years, but I'm still unsure if I want to register it or strip it down.
Good Video! Consider a bipod for your 18”, definitely a game changer.
Great content.
Could you mix in physical drills along with the marksmanship?
Or show how many miles you run or your favorite workout that goes along with being prepared?
Don't forget adding a suppressor to your gun decreases the range and damage. I know because it says so in call of duty
Great video
I'm loving this channel more and more
Last tip was the best, quality friends 😂
Keep On Truckin
20" grendel or 6mm arc or similar are all good dmr rifles to support garden variety 16s, 14.5s. Id consider anything shorter than 14.5 to also be a specialty setup if you're thinking about minute man rifles and a go-to for home defense.
Nobody can find grendal
Got a hellion with a red dot and mag. My second is a .308 gasser with a 1-6x lpvo.
Those are my needs. I don't why you need TWO rifles in one calibre. There is an option out there that is small enough for "cqb" but long enough barrel for terminal ballistocs at 400y.
People aren't ready for that convo though.
I have that same CMC trigger in my NV rig. 11.5 piston setup.
Almost 80k subs in 2 months, insane!
Thanks!
My 2 rifles are my ACR I have a 5.56 and 300blk barrel for it and my Mk12 Mod 1 with AEM5. I also plan on getting a 7.62x39, 6mm arc and a 12.5” mk12 barrel to run as my primary barrel with the 6mm arc barrel replacing my Mk12 as my DMR
I’d choose my 11.5 and my 18 as well. I love my 14.5 but I use it for classes mostly.
Hey try out the Ruger SFAR 16”, with stock break. What a way to empty out the areas to your left and right.
Good video!
Great content.... I disagree with the break comment, but that's also because I was used to the machine guns we shot in the military. A 5.56 with a break doesn't really register with me very much after being around larger guns.
I’m close in the thought process.. but wanted to squeeze out more velocity w the shorty
2 guns
12.5” w 1-6 razor hd w 12:00 rds suppressed
&
18” w 3-15 Viper PST 45 rds w a K can
The 12.5 and 6x makes shots to 400 simple, mounted 1.5, the 12:00 rds sits in that 2” height and you can really shoot fast close w it.
The 18” makes shots to 500 easy, and out to 650-700 really doable.. need to clear some brush to make my range go out to 8-900 so i can push it to the max.
On ammo, I’m in the 1000 duty grade and 1000 cheap stuff minimum per gun camp
