I never got a street bike bc I know how I am I wouldn't be able to always pussy foot around it's just not me I enjoy the gforce the acceleration the sound ect I do it with cars and trucks now but atleast I'm semi protected in comparison in the woods ur not contending with 2 and 3ton vehicles trying to kill you lol

You mentioned experiencing the slicks, they're indeed insane. But I was even more impressed by the supermoto rain tyres in wet conditions, it's unbelievable how much grip you still have with those in really poor conditions.
Every motor lover deserves to have at least three road bikes and three offroad bikes. Nehh, if it would be up to me I had sold very few of the bikes I owned.

Seated, standing and knee knocker wheelies all day. 115000kms later, oil changed every 5000kms, regular servicing myself and zero problems, literally nothing failed other than normal wear items needing to be replaced. I think you're missing one of the many key features about a supermoto. It's great at urban exploration, being able to ride it on the road and take it off roading whenever you see something you want to explore. I don't know about you but when I'm driving in my car, every now and then I'll look out my window and see some cool abandoned building or dirt lot that I think would be cool to ride my dirtbike on, well with a supermoto you can actually get to those places without having to load your bike in the back of a pickup and drive there. They are great if you live in a big city with lots of random trails and infrastructure to ride on.

I'm on a 2010 bmw k1300s and while yes many will just call it another street bike but man this thing check marks all the boxes for me. Having a shaft driven sport bike is just a different experience comes with the bags and all for the road trips.
Even though the bmw logo scares people maintenence is beyond easy without having to remove fairings for oil changes. Even the clutch was essentially the case bolts and then one giant 30mm holding your pack on. You can change your clutch in under an hour on one of these.
Did I mention most came stock with a quick shifter XD

Motocross! Yes, that is where I started and then moved to Supermoto. Try to keep one of each around so I can ride whichever floats my boat at the moment. Of course, the other option is the motocross bike with a Supermoto setup that you can swap to, which I had when I had a CRF450R.
Supermoto racing actually came first, starting with "The Superbikers" in the US (shown an ABC Wide World of Sports). It then progressed to a series of races in Europe (mainly France) with the showcase race being a version of the Bol d'Oro. That lead to the European series, then the World championships. But, of course, moto guys being what we are, stunting came along, kind of bringing a bunch of stunts from the off-road world to the asphalt. Hey, we are what we are!
(BTW, nice blues riff in the middle of the video!)
Wish I lived much closer (or had the funds to ship it), because I would love to own that bike. But SA to the US is a BIG bill of lading!
Have fun with whatever bike you get next!

I am someone who owns both a KTM 690 SMC-R (not a special supermoto like the FS450, but still not bad) and a kawasaki motocross bike. I can't say that I ride both of them really well, but I've had the chance to experience both of them to some extent. I've ridden the 690 on the track (a big F1 track like Istanbul Park isn't really ideal for this bike, but it was still a lot of fun), and I ride the motocross bike almost every weekend. In terms of adrenaline and excitement, I don't think anything can compare to the feeling of motocross. Yes, supermoto is a lot of fun, and riding any bike on the track is probably exciting too, but for me, there's no question that motocross is much more thrilling. It sounds like we share similar opinions on this topic.

When i first got into supermoto i had a drz s that i converted. I kept dirt and street rims and swapped a lot. Rode to work during the week and the track on the weekend. It wasnt the fastest but did both and in 30k miles never rebuilt it. Heck i ran the spark plug for over 20k. That said after a few track days my stable got bigger adding an rmz450 then ktm450 and another ktm450....
What i would suggest is just getting a used set of rims for your yz. Instead of slicks run some conti attack street tires. And just get a cheap 320 front brake to run the stock caliper. Most tracks will want some sliders and a coolant catch but easy to add. I kept my last ktm 450 and have 3 sets of wheels for it. Some alpinas with slicks, some 18/21 with gummy trail tires and some 19/21 moto.
I was happy with the longevity of dunlop gp tires. Other softer tires wear out quick but the dunlops were a good mix. My favorite tire was a maxxis presa but they stopped making them. It was super sticky and soft.

Much the same way as Harley’s (or cruiser style bikes) are where most street riders end up. Motocross is where us track junkies eventually end up as well.. It just makes logical sense once you start factoring in bang for your buck.. I can bang out an entire adrenaline filled weekend on my rmz (all maintenance included) for less than the cost of the fuel to run my 1290R for a single track day… It’s a great way to get your kicks and also afford to do other things as well

If you live near areas where there are a lot of places to ride dirtbikes legally without having to trailer hours there and back, then it is a ton of fun. But if you live in areas where there are no legal trails or tracks, the asphalt becomes your trail system. I dont need to dedicate an entire day to ride on my supermoto. When I have an hour to waste, I can just walk into the garage and jump on my supermoto and ride. I have ridden all the different styles of bikes and my supermoto is the most fun i have ever had on 2/1 wheel.

Nothing is as fun and dynamic as dirtbike riding, particularly enduro and cross country exploration. I still love high powered road bikes, particularly nakeds, (and particularly the ducati streetfighter V2), but a road bike has a more serious adrenaline rush feel to racing, whereas dirtbike riding is more of a mellow focused fun... not like a Superbike where it's like an "oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck I'm gonna die" type fun.

Why not a big supermoto like the SMCR/701SM or Ducati Hypermono 698? You get close to a true SM experience but without the hassle and you can ride it on the street and track, to include big road courses.

How about a 701/690 as a replacement. Of course it is NOT a fs 450 but that's as close as you can get to it but without replacing your engine after 5k miles. It definetly is great fun an d street legal too👀...

Riding off road, mx or enduro.. is 100x more enjoying than street/asphalt.. but it comes at a cost.. You will end up in the hospital at some time, with some pretty good injuries that will set you back and make you rethink your decisions.. I have had 4 knee surgeries, 3 broken collar bones, wrist 2x, ankle 1x, so many broken ribs I can't count.. I grew up racing mx, then to hare scrambles, then to GNCC... Now its been almost 10yrs since I even threw a leg over an MX bike other than to just wheelie a buddies rmz450 across a corn field to feel what the newer 450's feel like.. It took 30sec for me to say, nope.. I enjoy going to work and staying injury free..

As a supermoto rider , it just makes me mad that people think that supermoto is stunts and whilees xD.
and i think that you probably wold have enjoyed more the supermoto after more time prcticing , becosue you start to learn to enter sliding into the corners!!
    great video !!

Supermoto in all its glory. But imagine going flat out down rough a bumpy downhill, sliding into the corner railing the burm to hit a huge tabletop. The asphalt will never compare to the rush of that. Or the motocross start. 40 guys, behind a gate into the first corner. Supermoto is fun and all but I like extreme sports, and to me, supermoto is kinda tame.
