Great boxart, congratulations 👏🏻. The film is also great, not to short, not to long. The time stamps are excellent addition. It was a pleasure to watch.
Yes, we all want that video on painting figures with oils! Good presentation and comments, I enjoyed this vid a lot! Do you paint historical pieces as well? Would love to see someone new in that category coming up with a content creator mindset like you.
Glad to hear that you like the video. I haven't really done any historical pieces but hopefully i will some day. Maybe through a comission or similar. There are some really nice ones from Young miniatures that i've been wanting to paint.
If you dont have acrylics, then start with a thin wash on the entire model of your shadow color (pick something transparent or semi transparent), let it sit for a bit and then wipe off the places where lighting would be most pronounced. For this use the thinner/dilutent on a make up sponge or cotton swab. I'll be showing this process in more detail soon
Awesome video! Can I ask you how long you waited for the oils to dry before you varnished? This is the step that always freaks me out because I don’t know how the oils will react to the varnish
I'm very glad you like it. Oil drying time all depends on your pigments and environment. There are also mediums that can speed up drying time. I used a bit of liquin from winsor and newton, which makes the oils dry over night. You only really need 10% of medium to paint, so it can be a very delicate balance with the tiny amounts of paint we use in miniature painting. For this one, i waited two days to be sure since i felt comfortable that liquin dries the paint over night. If you're using no mediums at all I would wait at least a week to be safe.
Great stuff, lots to digest. Hope to see you make more. :)
New video next week! I'm glad you like it!

Funnily enough, found this video through the kickstarter. Love your style and the mix of oils and acrylics.

Oils?! Give me more!
bra jobba!
Do you believe the sketching step to be necessary? I don' own any artists acrilics but have a nice collection of oils now that I can use.
