This was a great tutorial. I was considering making this video myself as I just showed my wife how to make these in Canva for a ornament she wanted to gift this year.
Love this and I’ve stayed away from ornaments because my availability to affordable 1/8 wood in my area. You are making me want to start looking again.
This is INCREDIBLE!!! I got a creality falcon 2 pro laser a few months ago. Even though I’m a pretty techy person, lightburn was not the most user friendly in my opinion. Who knew how important the shift key is?!?! 😂. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Absolutely love this video!!!
Thank you so much for watching! I’m really happy you enjoyed the video. I was also a bit overwhelmed when I first started using Lightburn, which is why I put this video together to show how easy it can be to create something unique. I totally live by the shortcut keys (especially the shift key)! 😂 Do you think it would be helpful if I made more tutorial videos like this?
@@wilmerwoodworksyes 100%. I would love to see more! You did such a great job simplifying the process to help us learn. I would love it if you could explain the features on the left more… I seriously get scared to mess with any buttons 😂 because I don’t know what will happen. I didn’t even know how to shrink the grid back down after enlarged 😂😂😂
Thanks for watching! I put another video up ua-cam.com/video/08HqJJv7TFI/v-deo.htmlsi=x3aG0KzthgUzDdBr Just let me know what other types of projects or ornaments you would like to see.
Thanks 🙏 I’m glad you like it. I have another tutorial posting today that shows a different Lightburn feature in a more intricate ornament. Thanks for subscribing!
Great video and thanks for the free file. I've already downloaded it. New subscriber and I'll be checking out your other videos today while I'm engraving a few items.
Hello Steve, just found your channel, I have watched several tutorials on similar builds and I must congratulate you on the way you explain the different aspects of the build, I understood everything you said and demonstrated. By far the best tutorial on You Tube, thank you sir and keep up the good work. New subscriber here mate..
Nice design. I've been using CorelDraw for over 30 years, so when I watch a video of someone using Lightburn, I don't really need any tips. Out of all the videos I've watched, I'm pretty sure you're the first one I've seen who bothered to align items. I was thinking Lightburn just didn't have that as a tool. Nice job.
I have no issues with you cutting and selling these. I only ask that 1. Don't sell the digital files (of course) and 2. If you are going to sell them online (like Etsy) just tag me somewhere in the description as the designer.
@@wilmerwoodworks You misunderstood me. I have no intention of selling your design files. I simply compliment your creativity. I am a designer myself. So I have no shortage of digital files. Have a nice day.
This is great - thank you! If I wanted to unite so that the palm trees are complete (so that they cut into the circle, instead of the circle cutting into the palm tree), is that possible? This video was a huge help to me!
Hi, thank you for the design. Very cute. I'm new to laser engraving. I have the falcon2 22w and I used 1/8 basswood. I scored the wood but did not cut at all. Can you tell me what I did wrong?
What settings did you have your cut set to? I would suggest you try 500mm/m @ 70-80%. If that doesn't cut through adjust the settings to slower and more power gradually (speed in intervals of 50mm/m and power by 5%) until it cuts through. If you have additional questions let me know - Steve@WilmerWoodWorks.com
I got your design online - I tried first doing my own and it was a good experience - I am very new at this - the 2nd rain deer did not stay attached to the other ones - Any advises?
The small little lines can be difficult if you don't have your cut settings dialed in. There are 2 things I would suggest trying. 1. Try cutting the layer at a lower power with multiple passes so that the deer stays intact. 2 when you have the file in lightburn ungroup the ornament and select the top of the inner circle (where the deer heads are) and do an offset inward at about 0.0090 and this will make the design a little thicker and should allow for the cut without any issues. Let me know if this helps or if you would like a short video showing how to make the changes.
This depends on a few things one of which is your location, are you selling online or at a craft show? I would suggest between $10 - $15 but that is just my thoughts I currently struggle with pricing and hope after I sell at a few more craft shows I'll have a better handle on it. I tend to price my items too low (at least that is what I've been told)
Another great video (working my way backwards, LOL) Total beginner question though....why was the backer engraving of the ocean set to line and not fill?
You can just CTRL D to duplicate instead of copy/paste. Also if you click and drag from left to right you only have to grab a piece of whatever you want to select... If there are multiple layers or multiple pieces just make sure that you have at least a small part of them. This was a huge speed up for me.
Rewatching this so I can take notes.. I noticed the number in the background during your intro…can you believe you have almost 100 more subscribers since you recorded this?!?!?! 🙌🏼
Good question! Do you use air assist when you are cutting? Make sure that the filter on your air pump is cleaned regularly to make sure a good air flow. If your laser struggles with cutting try making 2 or 3 cut passes.
Free tutorial, free file, and then does not even beg for a subscribe as most youtubers do at the start of the video.

Wonderful! I use my planer to reduce the thickness of scraps I have or I purchase the ply off of Amazon they aren't terrible on price.
Helpful tip: Right-click the # heading in the cuts & layers window and select "sort cuts last". Thanks for this excellent video!

Thanks, I'll try to slow down a bit. I just try to keep the overall videos short and once I hit the 15min mark I know people will stop watching.
Another great video (working my way backwards, LOL) Total beginner question though....why was the backer engraving of the ocean set to line and not fill?
Just personal preference. You could fill it if you wanted to but I had my kiddos paint it so it was better as a line.

Saludos yo tengo una falcón2 de 40 w, quisiera que hicieras un tutorial para cambiar la manguera de aire
¿Qué? No entiendo
What is the thickness of that piece of wood you are cutting?
This is 3mm or 1/8” basswood plywood
Very nice demo. You took the mystery out of it! By the way, take up woodturning and you’ll buy superglue (CA glue) by gallon.
I have done some woodturning in the past but have been thinking about trying it again great tip I'll have to remember it! 👍
Great job but, the glue on the reindeer was not necessary!! :)

Your cuts look super clean. My edges are always messy, and I wind up inadvertently making the items dirty from handling. How do you work around that?
Good question! Do you use air assist when you are cutting? Make sure that the filter on your air pump is cleaned regularly to make sure a good air flow. If your laser struggles with cutting try making 2 or 3 cut passes.
Why did you put glue on the Santa and Reindeer? They're not touching anything.. Their free-floating..
Because I get excited and don’t always pay attention 😂
