great reaction! please turn on the captions so you can know whats going on bts are VERY lyric heavy. they do ALL genres and they write their own songs based on their experiences. all 7 members write and produce they also all have solo music along with group music. they been a group since 2013. theyre not kpop. if youre interested in really understanding what i mean by that please react to bbygangmags videos on bts and kpop along with xcelestes videos on bts. many things about bts tie into korean culture while also being separate from kpop itself because kpop is a industry not a genre or culture however the exports of entertainment/arts in korea does help spread their culture its a very nuanced conversation that many do not take the time to understand fully even many korean music fans dont understand a lot about the culture. all that being said bts roots are in hip hop and theyve always given credit to their inspirations. while many kpop groups/korean artists make hip hop music or incorporate rap into their music not many stick to the true meaning of hip hop of telling your story and standing up for something however bts do that in their music. they have fun tracks too but majority of their music even fun ones have a deep meaning examples going against the korean education system, standing up for social issues, speaking about mental health and self love, discussing topics many shy away from in pop music in general. as for black swan the song and music video is based on this quote " a dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." - Martha Graham they discuss their fear of losing their passion for music (all of their aspects of performing, creating, dancing, singing, rapping etc) what they should do if it happens how to pick themselves back up and how to accept it/change the outcome too. visuals are great and important but most fans are fans of the lyrics and production first music video/visuals/dancing come after as everything ties to the lyrics the video the dancing is almost always expresses what the lyrics are saying. please react to these videos armys (bts fans) will watch them we love when people take the time to actually understand bts story and lyrics as they tie together. this is bts introduction to bts by xceleste bts hardships 2013 - 2021 by xceleste bts vs kpop by bbygangmag youre wrong about kpop by bbygangmag the media is wrong about kpop by bbygangmag kpop vs orientalism by bbygangmag bts : more than kpop by bbygangmag and if you end up being in for the long haul i highly suggest the fan made documentary 'the rise of bangtan' theres 21 episodes so far and really takes you on the journey of bts as majority has been documented by btw themselves. the fan took clips from multiple sources and put it together in a great way without distorting the journey or adding any opinions/narratives. just as is as it happened. if you end up doing this please start with the trailer. sorry for such a long comment if you have any questions ask away :)
Thank you for your comment, it’s definitely gave me a lot of insight. I will look more into some of the details you have mentioned. I appreciate it again :)
one last thing bts has many songs without music videos please dont only stick to the music videos theres so many gems in their discography. i suggest using the site doolsetbangtan or using lyric channels like af taehyung, zaty farhani, dial 6137 never use jaeguchi or lemoring lyric channels those channels are terrible with translations :)
