Required abilities to become a knight:
    1. Fighting ability
    2. Integrity and work ethic
    3. Ability to grow gorgeous long hair

My husband & I saw this over the Christmas Holidays, while visiting family in Atlanta.
It was my 'surprise' gift for him and we both really enjoyed it.
It was spectacular on every level, exceedingly professional and completely efficient.
It is 100% 'kid-friendly' and the children we saw were loving it and dreaming of being a Knight or Princess..
It's fine to dream about exciting times in history, but the reality is I would not want to live in that very difficult & harsh time.

I went to the show in Texas many years ago and the black and white knight in this video is the exact same knight that I met! Really cool guy to talk to. Sad that our team didn't win, but he fought valiantly. Hope he and all the other knights from over a decade ago are still doing well. :)

I have been to Medieval Times 3 times and had fun at each one! While it is not how actual tournaments in the Medieval period would have been, it is great to watch. My first time when I was seven impressed me so much. I think it would be cool if Medieval Times had a "Game of Thrones" themed event, I would definitely like to see knights from the great houses of Westeros battle and enjoy cuisine of the Seven Kingdoms lol. I went to this recently for a good friend's birthday and had a blast!

If I could Id spend days on end just watching something like this. I love medieval combat and the era in general. sadly I do not have one of these in a decent range T.T and I doubt I could afford to keep going as often as Id want lol ...

you have to keep in mind that this is a kid-friendly restaurant. If you want something more "realistic" try the educational shows

I wouldn't mind doing this for a living :P or even as a hobby XD

    • @Argonova

You could never do this as a hobby. This video doesn't make it as clear as some of the others on youtube, but the "knights" who work at medieval times train constantly when they are not doing performances. It looks like pure fun as a spectator, but these guys need to keep themselves in constant peek physical condition. They are full-time dedicated stunt men, actors and horsemen.
I personally witnessed one such performance go terribly wrong when the Green Knight's horse, for whatever reason, became crazed and out of control and slammed the rider into the wall before bucking him off onto the ground. The staff handled it amazingly well, calming the horse and helping the performer out of the arena to be replaced by a stand-in, all seamlessly without breaking character or seriously disrupting the show. I mention this just to illustrate how badly this sort of job can break down a persons body and health.

Argonova Actually I know someone that was a former knight. He got the job with needing a much experience at all. But it does in fact wear your body down.

Medieval Times outcome is staged not live. True medieval tournaments would be bloody,no music playing at loud levels and truly unpredictable. In the next new show they will do I want to see more realism . I want all six knights to have a chance to win without one being the bad guy. I also want to see the wizard like in the 2002-2008 medieval times with older soundtrack. For the first time have second meal that has more ribs. I also want see stage blood and story line with the prince already dead

The Large Bola. Although he kinda does say it at the exact moment you linked to as well...

  • @AXEA12

You mean the tournament is real?

    • @Argonova
      @Argonova 10 років тому +3

That depends on what you mean by "real". The fight is a performance. No one actually gets killed. But the stunt work, horsemanship, athleticism and risk of serious bodily injury if the slightest thing goes wrong is all very real.

It's ok! If you love medieval European combat or culture, these shows won't give you any anyway. Look for MEMAG or HEMA events instead. If you like flashy acrobatic entertainment with a vague Medieval theme, then I can't help you out

This has nothing to do with the Middle Ages. But maybe it is a nice show for entertainment. If you want to know something about Medieval Times, read books.

Actually it does. If you cared to really study the Middle Ages. It just leaves out the nasty bits because it's an all-ages show.
