- A solar cooker is a device which is used to cook food directly under sun light without using Gas, LPG or electricity. It's a clean process of outdoor cooking. There are two types of cooker, box type and parabolic type. The later one is more efficient.
We make our own solar cooker out of a cardboard box of 235mm x 235mm x 140mm in size. We used five pieces of thermocol inside the box as insulator as show in the video. Sizes were, 230mm x230mm x30mm one pieces, 200x110x10mm two pieces and 225x110x10mm two pieces. For top we have used a 4mm thick glass of 230mm x 230mm. The reflector on top of the box was 470mmx235mm big.

It's our school project. Thanks for helping me with your easy process , sir.
Love the way this guy figures out how to do a nice lil'oven with household items. Nothing fancy, yet effective. Congrats.
Thanks

I was going to buy one, but you've convinced me to make one. Great video!!! Thank you for sharing.
@M Jeddah Hi ! How did it go ?
I live in Arizona and lost half of my electricity back on May 8 at the RV Park where I live year round. Of course my ac went out but also my stove. I borrowed a slow cooker from a friend but now I can probably return it to her. I’m going to make this solar cooker and use it for free! No electricity needed!!!
Sorry to hear the difficulty you are facing. But yes, solar cooker is a great way to use free energy from sun.
Thank you. Very interesting and only 30 minutes for the egg on a cloudy day....impressive. People who live in very hot places would benefit from this.
You are right
no need to live in hot place. you only need sun. it can cook even during winter -20C on sunny day
waiting 30 min for an egg, it is too long.
@@1adamgarcia2003 If you live in an informal settlement with no electricity,no wood,no running water and hardly any money for food, you will understand fully that you are spoilt.....would you rather eat a raw egg if you were living under such circumstances...????
Using a black pot fasten the speed of cooking. Temperature will be much higher. Great video.
Christophe Parot what’s a black pot ?
@@gabawabba I think maybe it's just a pot or pan that is black colored instead of silver?
@@kerrychristensen7204 yes
Eyyyy a comment thats not racist
We use black colour because black colour absorbs heat whereas white colour reflects heat
Very good video . It might also help if river sand is filled in an insulated metal box and allowed to be heated up by solar power for several days. This stored heat can be used to cook quickly by keeping the cooker in a suitable niche made of matt black painted copper lining kept in contact with the hot sand. Toasting or roasting can be done by having another device filled with hot sand. Frying too could be done by suitable arrangement.
I enjoyed your voice in this informative video. Smooth, calm & good pace with a smart way to cook
Excellent demonstrations
No wasting of time and a very gud explanation
Great video
You're a life saver man. Praise you
I live in Florida and can put a cast iron pan out on my driveway in the summer to boil water ....seriously ! But I will construct one of these 👍🏼. This is brilliant 💋
I feel like here in Louisiana this might make crispy critters for dinner lol
I will also use this to our science project. such an amazing experiment
Very Thankful To You Because I Have Only One Day Left For Science Project
Very good tutorial. I don't understand why it got so many dislikes. Very specific and helpful.
Dislike is from those whose ecpection was a commercial product which can cook the egg in a mint. 😉😯
I didn't dislike the video because it's still an interesting experiment realized in a cheap and simple way that anybody can do at home following this video, but I guess people disliked it because using styrofoam as insulation is a very bad idea.
When heated or coming in contact with hot material it will release styrene and benzene in gas form, which are known carcinogenic substances and of course can leach into the food, so using common styrofoam as insulation for an oven is a very bad idea. Don't do it, if you want to go really cheap with insulation that anybody can find at home without buying anything expensive use shredded parer or layers of cardboad.
so much better than paying 500 for one. Thank you my friend

I think mirror is the best reflector to use because it will reflect the sun perfectly.. I will try it ... thanks .
what an ingenious idea!! thanx for that. Hopefully i will be able to make one of these and use it to make black garlic.
black garlic!, What is that?

Very neat looking one of the best builds i have seen.
It’s really useful and great surely very demonstrative but things is not household stuff and is very hard to find in the house… But no offense! Great video can’t believe the comment where someone says they go AA++!
Thanks to make this video his help to make my science project work I'm come third in 50 students 😀😀😀
Great, congratulations.
Hey
Very nice beautiful Solar cooker
Will the height of the box affect the amounts of heat it absorbs?
i believe the height of the box would make hotter you could say since there is light going in it will have more surface area to bounce off of , id recomend a big box with more reflectors on top angled to hit inside the box
Fascinating, same guy taught me PHP on UA-cam back in the days
Legends watching after 10 years because of school project😊
Apparently MacGyver has an Indian accent. Whoda thunk?
Really good use of inexpensive materials combined with an easily built design.
Thanks and thumbs up!

Can i use cardboard instead of thermocol
Yes, you can.
Thanks for the video. Something like this will be great in my van project as I will save on cooking gas.
Very-very thanks, to make this video.
THIS SCIENCE PROJECT IS AMAZING!!🎉🎉

Very useful for my project. its awesome !!!!!!!!!!
Hi I am doing a solar cooker project as well but I have a different size of box will that matter? ... Also Thank you so much for helping me with the project
What's the size?
Hi again. Is there anything you could substitute for the glass? I have a school project on a solar cooker but now that all the shops are closed I don't think I can find any.
You can use food grade plastic wrap. But generally I do not recommend.
Brainergiser why don’t you recommend food wrap?
@@yuvpatel1293 I like to avoid plastics. You really don't know your food wrap quality. Secondly it's a temporary solution.
You can also use an oven bag, like a turkey roasting bag.
Very goodly explained concepts
Good video
Thanks. There are two more videos related to solar. One is solar wood engraver and other is folded solar heater. You can search with brainergiser solar heater or brainergiser solar engraver. Best of luck.
I am in 10 class
I got this project in this lockdown and I made it easily as it is very simple
I liked this project
This project is working😁
Great. Did you try some improvement?
@@BrainergiserTubeThis video was made when I was 5. But now I'm using this technique for group project because of the dumb new curriculum.
Wow
If we paint the base thermacol with black colour instead of sticking black sheet, would it effect the heating system ?
***** I made my solar cooker for exhibition around 2 months ago. But I didn't cook anything in it.😁😁
+Prajakta Bhalerao thermocol is used because it's a bad conductor of it. it helps to store the heat inside.
definitely it wil work .but it will work better if you had used it :)
If you want make good diy solar you should try plans from inplix site.
Yep. Inplix is good to me too
thank you very much but can you please tell which type of glass sheet do i use in it
You forgot one very important piece of information what is the highest temperature you got it up to?????
150°C
Thanks..
& how about black inside walls instead of shiny surface? Will it no absorbe more heat?
thanks I will made it to my school project and it's so simple
your grammar is awfull

Its necessary to use thermocol?? Can we replace it with Cardboard??
Yes you can. Create air pocket with card boards.

50 degrees is pretty far from cooking. You pretty much dried the egg instead of coming it. I would not eat it, unless I wanted salmonella
50 degrees C not F
@suehuff8065 😂😂😂 50 degrees Celcius is still halfway from boiling point.
Does this method of cooking burn food? And can we use light bulbs heat instead of the suns heat? Will it work?
NICE ACCENT

what if we paint black or cover the whole device body with black?
may be it will get hotter?
Hi there
Do you think a 900 f = 445 C box cooker can be made? Using more advanced materials?
Thank You.
i wonder if you made the bottom with tin foil if it would be even hotter. hope u make a bigger one so can put bigger pots inside. really useful. i now want to make one!
No black heats more.
Does this take a long time for a smore
Awesome nice excellent
Thanks. I have to do this for a school project. I can see the A+ already.
Hello, can I ask what others materials can represent the glass? I need your reply because my school will do this for school project.Thankyou.
U should use glass. Ordinary Window glass is fine.
@@BrainergiserTube OK,Thankyou.
I REALLY need an answer quick... What's the black thing on on the piece of stirafoam
Kya niche wale thermocol ko bhi mote ki jagah patla use kar sakte hai or us par black paper ki jagah silver foil laga sakte hai please reply me sir
Niche mota but black use karo.
Is glass used as a transparent cover to protect what's inside and allow sunlight to pass or does it serve any other purpose?
It traps the heat inside (green house effect.)
@@BrainergiserTube Oooo
Amazing video bro!!! very much high quality and i got an AA++
it is easy but have a doubt that what did you use to set the angle and ya will any size of box will do
Me and a friend are working on a solar cookers documentary. It will be released free to the public when complete. May we use clips from your video for it?
Can you use plastic instead of glass to trap the heat inside of the box
Glass is better.
Thanks you helped me in my homework
Thanks a lot
