- This is a top quality game improved all the further by the top quality commentary. There is, however, something of a need to explain a little something about not only the commentary in this game but generally, in this series.
On constant tickover while I'm playing the game is some kind of semi-subconcious commentary tracking system in the back of my head. It endeavours to ensure that I'm not repeating myself, and has a sense of the right spacing between simple play by play commentary or stats on a player, or referencing other teams someone might have played for, and the more gonzo commentary that I know amuses the regular viewers of this channel.
Engaging gonzo commentary frequently means creating a metaphor on the fly - often I won't be thinking too much about said metaphor, and will just regurgitate phraseology either I've used before or I've picked up from 50 years of inhaling movies and TV as though my life depended on it. Sometimes the effect of this can be quite funny, sometimes it can be rather nonsensical, and sometimes it sinks like a stone - although that's okay, there'll be another one along soon.
My timing tickover gives me a quick nudge whenever it's been a while since the last deviation from "normal" commentary, and I'll attempt to insert something pithy. This is, of course unless the spice is flowing, in which case the nonsense in commentary will be coming thick and fast - like it does in this video.
Now we're into why we're here. Why this unrequired explanation of "the process" exists. There's some fun commentary in this game, possibly due to the time of day I was recording (which was outside the normal window) but for whatever reason, it's a little more amped than usual. This is one line in particular which is entirely throwaway that I think will get a big laugh, however it's stuck with me as being "yeah, that's kinda wrong though". Maybe you clock it. Maybe it makes you laugh, maybe it doesn't. The point I'm making here is that I barely have control of the commentary vehicle, and sometimes I'll add a cliche to something I just said and there's some alchemical wonder as a result. I'm overthinking all of this, which is ironic given how unthinking the line in question is. (No, it's not offensive, wouldn't result in my social persona being cancelled, it's just a little close to the bone if you think about it.) It also has absolutely zero basis in reality. I've said enough now.
Anyway, there you go. I won't tell you which line it is (cos I'm interested to see if you an spot it) and maybe I just need a cold flannel and to shut my brain down for a bit.
Dammit Rev, the comeback.
10/4 good buddy this is the duck,ah referencing convoy there
That comeback was nearly sensual...
Oooh! Do I sniff a future hunt for the emergentcy crickets and rounder myriad talentedness - just wetting in the wings: Farjeon Dishdirter ..? Eh? Eh? No? Well, I was just thinkerating.
Nice to hear the excitedable Japanese Lady Woman Person vampire at the back wicket.
Yey! ;o)
That was quite a game!
Somewhere in the midwestern US, there’s a little league team that has eviscerated their league and they want a crack at BDPowerless
And re the above, I think that line is the 'how I like my women' one. It is indeed a throw away that always produces a chuckle, sort of sounds wrong, but is equally used both ways as a joke, so it's fine. It not as though you're channeling your inner Jimmy Carr...
Nina Nanu.
What a name! What a pitcher! What a gal!
We gots to have her.
How many shirts has B. Dunk sold this week?
Goooooooooo Dozers!
Since you asked, that top number on the right side of the screen is how much money you have left in your payroll that can be used to sign players. Also, the economy tab on the left side of the screen will let you know as well. And when viewing lists of players, you can sort them by pressing down on your right stick (by default) to choose the column you want to sort by.
That's what she said. Let someone be offended if they want, good for the algorithm. I think I'm being sarcastic.
Well, I threw away my popcorn in disgust.
High and tight ... how I like my women ... lol.
Perhaps change something, or go back to the last version of the game, which was maybe more balanced? As a video series I feel this one is running out of steam fast as it is now..
I don't. The shuffle draft saved this series IMHO. It found it quite tiresome that year in, year out the same group of characters (Failure, Morrey, Conservative, etc.) always survived the draft, and the commentary around them had got more than a little stale. Not all of this new cadre of characters are going to 'take', but that was true of the previous series as well (remember anything about Papal Event-Horizon other than his name? I don't), and the beauty of the franchise mode is that those that fail to develop a persona can be moved on.
Shandy IS (insert surname here)...
Get that microphone out of my face. LOL
You should lower the difficulty to zero, try to win a game, then increase it.
.. increase it IF you can win a game.
🤔Colonel? Bert Violence doesn’t have a fastball. You said that several times. And so, you decide to try his fastball against a fastball hitter? -sigh-🤦♂️
Was gonna say the commentary in this episode seemed off, then I read your explanation above; not just the one line, it was all kinda below par.
Your aiming to high with your curveball
By realism sense, yeah, but in SMB4 AI batting system of "Anticipated/Fooled" is dependent on what pitches you use, how often, on what counts and most importantly in 8 zones, not counting dead center. There's actual merit to throwing them at the top of the zone as you try to avoid the devastating Anticipated bonus that can slap you on higher Egos, especially 63+.
