    I lived in Atlanta for 2 years, but never made it this far past Rockmart on the Silver Comet. Honestly, if I'd known this was there, I'd have probably made a point to climb it! Back then I was a glutton for punishment, I used to do hill repeats up Mt Kennesaw at least once a week. Best way to get fit fast, climbing a mountain 4-5 times in a row!

I tried pushing the bike back to the car, but quickly realized I was going to ruin both wheels. So, I picked up the bike & carried it about 8 miles. About halfway through that, it started raining! We managed the Century ride... Cumberland Mall to Anniston Al. The hills weren't nearly as bad as I'd anticipated. The worst part was, like in your video, they came well into a long ride. If these were at the beginning of a ride, you'd think nothing of them. The key to seeing how steep this is is to look at the blocks in the retaining wall. That gives away the steepness.

I hit the Grady Road today on my journey across the country and I had my 100lbs cart that I was pushing and just when I thought the hills had to be over there were more at every turn! I rode this section - it was my favorite part of the trail. He's lamenting over the hill but if you hit 5:58 he's hauling serious a-- down that hill which is right after trashmore mt hill.

      Vista, this is an OLD Video. I was Fairly New to Cycling. I was almost 235 Lbs, and I hadn't been on the bike in over Three Weeks. Big Deal, You can Climb very well. I Glad for you. But, let it be known that I Wasn't "Lamenting" over the climb. You're the Odd One on this thread. Out of ALL of the Many Comments, you're the ONLY one to say that this was Your Favorite Part of the Trail. Hat's Off to you. Safe Spinning out there... Thanks for your Response.

    I really liked your video! It captures very well the level of effort required to climb that hill. The music was great too!
    I was on the first ride event that used that section just after it opened in 2008, and the hilly section appears at 2:45 in my video I took that day. This was the Georgia Rails Into Trails Labor Day ride. The last section of concrete had been placed on a Thursday, and this ride was held on the following Monday. Wow, it was a shock! I'm thankful that the Bike Friday you see in my video has some very low gears! Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/wkT78p7v6Po/v-deo.html

      Charlotte Fairchild sorry that I'm just now seeing your request. There are Two Roadside Memorials upward through Grady Road. I inquired with the Trail Maintenance Crew about them. They informed me of the Two Cardiac Arrest victims. For a more thorough explanation, I suggest that you inquire with Officials via the Silver Comet Trail's official website. Thanks for your Time.

    I love the video. I started riding a few weeks ago because I got tired of my elliptical machine. I have two kids (1 and 3) and I pull them on the trail. I went one time by myself and went from Powder Springs to the start near South Cobb dr and back. Is this hill near Rockmart?

      Hi Rip Rap. Yes, this is the hill near Rockmart. It's Serious. Please be very careful out there. I have NEVER seen any Rangers patrolling this part of the trail. Thanks for watching the video. Be Safe Always.

      Bryant Andrews SR. Sunday I rode this stretch for the first time. I went from Coots Lake to the Cedartown depot. These were some tough hills that I had to stand up to pull. I'm building up to try and ride the whole trail from South Cobb Dr and back in one day.

    LETS BE VERY CANDID ABOUT IT: This hill is a Btich !!! I've done it a half dozen times and yet to ever make it all the way. Always wind up walking up it, guess it's nothing to be ashamed of. Mt. Trashmore !!

      @MrTrueword  7 років тому +1

      Carol M Indeed , it Is. Are you climbing the hill on a Road Bike, or some other kind of bike??

    • @carolm7759
      @carolm7759 7 років тому +1

      Hi Bryant, I've done it on two different bikes. I have a Trek Domane 5.2 Carbon and I've done much better with that one needless to say. But my Touring bike the (2017) Trek 520 Disc - Steel is 33 Lbs of machine and I'm afraid I have to push it all the way, even with the granny gear. That hill is a real dog anyway you look at it. I'm planning on doing some touring with the 520 this year and some practice runs before hand heading out to Camp Comet and the Piedmont with a full load in the panniers. I know I'm going to have to PUSH that thing up that hill to get over to Cedar town. The Carbon Domane is only 16 Lbs and does a whole lot better. I rode to the border last Saturday 3/4/17 Here is the Garmin Track from last week, you can tell I went over Garbage mountain by viewing the map: connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1603706875/share/0?lang=en

      Thanks Bryant. I'd love to ride with you some time. I'm only afraid if I rode with someone that they would get P.O.ed because I'm a slow rider. I go out with the positive attitude of always finishing the ride, but I always afraid that I would slow another rider down. I'LL follow your posting here and touch base with you down the line, where do you usually get on the trail? I've been getting on at Rockmart as it's nicely centered for heading to the border or to Florence Rd. Take care got to run.

      Hi Carol. Yeah, I ride really fast , most of the time. But occasionally, I'll ride much slower just to Absorb the Life that the Forest has to offer. If we ever cycled together, we wouldn't be racing, LOLOL. Whenever my buddies and I all ride together; it's No one "left behind", Period. I recently moved to Atlanta. I would have to commute to the trail. But I don't mind at all. Heyyyyyy!!! Spinners are Winners. Always play safe... Thanks!!
