I really enjoyed your take on my favorite trail!
I live close to the Silver Comet and ride it often. I took a somewhat different approach to my (few) UA-cam videos: time lapse. Somehow, I think your video provides a more tranquil view of the trail, which better captures the true experience.
For those of you who wish to ride the Silver Comet as an easy day trip, I suggest starting at the Rambo trailhead and heading west. In 1.3 miles you'll cross Pumpkinvine Trestle; in another 7? miles you'll enter Brushy Mtn Tunnel. In a couple more miles, you'll be at Coots Lake, where there's a convenience store. Keep heading west and you'll be in Rockmart, riding along my absolute favorite section of the trail. Turn around when you reach the approach to the highway. You'll recognize the spot: A very steep hill. Then back to Rambo, for a 35-mile (total) ride.
If you're looking for a longer ride, consider starting at Florence Rd, go west to Rockmart or even to the Alabama state line and back, for a century (actually something like 102 miles).
Tip: The trail gets prettier the further west you go, away from Atlanta. If you're doing a shorter ride, it's worth driving a bit further for a more enjoyable ride.
How nice it the trail? It's literally one of the top 3 reasons why I bought a house where I did.

Great videos! I’m getting loads of ideas for bike trips! Two suggestions: (1) Include a link to your itinerary. Include where you parked (for overnight trips) and where you stayed (camping and hotel). (2) When pointing out landmarks, restaurants, etc. along the trail, consider noting the mileage at that pint in your ride. Thanks!
Thanks for the kudos and the feedback. I typically try to share what I think is going to be the most useful resource for someone in planning their own trip. Sometimes that's a Ride With GPS map that would have a lot of the detail you're looking for. In other instances, there are more robust trail resources available (as is the case with these trails) and I'll post those. I don't share our exact itinerary as a) conditions are sometimes different on the ground at different times and b) different groups move at different paces. Also, I don't always reference where we stayed as, based on our experience, they don't always end up being places that I'd recommend. Still, I hope my videos serve as a resource to promote these resources and inspire folks to get out and have their own adventures.

Another great video. I would love to make the trip for that one some day. Perhaps in the fall when it gets cooler up here. Lol I'm in southern Ohio and was wondering if you have ever considered doing the Paint Creek Recreational Trail. It's a 30 mile fully paved (with some roots but are manageable) trail that runs between Chillicothe and Washington Court House Ohio so there are lots of amenities on each end for a nice out and back. The nature and wildlife along it are great. I've even heard rumors of eagle sightings. They are considering shutting it down so it could really use the attention it deserves and your channel would give it. Plus it's a great ride! Thanks for the videos and keep on biking!
Thanks for the kudos. I had not actually heard of the Paint Creek Recreational Trail, prior to your comment. However, that's not saying a whole lot as Ohio has such a robust network of trails. Very sorry to hear that it might be shut down, but it's a bit short and a bit far to merit the 3 1/2 hour drive from where I live in the near future.
Looks beautiful but I wish it was less crowded. My favorite trail is the Virginia Creeper.
1. They edited out long stretches of the trail that have very little traffic. 2. They did it on a weekend.

Hi! Wonderful video and love the music! We live in Alaska and have long considered doing some rail trails on the East Coast. Our son is in Georgia doing Army training and we will be there in February. We are used to riding in the cold but wonder what you think of February for a rail trail? Also, we would love to plan a trip this coming spring but people keep telling us about the awful spring storms on the East Coast. Do you have any recommendations for what month is best... or is it anyone's guess? Thank you!
Well, it's all relative. Coming from Alaska that time of year, you'd probably think of it as pretty warm, but it looks like temps typically range from low 30s to upper 50s in the area. Still, that's cold enough for you to likely have the trail to yourselves, which could be nice. Best time of year is subjective, but I would think spring or late summer/early fall would be best for my taste. Hope that helps.
Does the trail stay in wooded rural areas or does it meander thru busy city streets where you need to cross with traffic ?
There are a few road crossings along the way, but nothing I would describe as very busy.
between this and arabia mountain, if you had one day, which one would you do?
I've never been to Arabia Mountain so I'm not able to offer any advice on that choice. Sorry.
How many hours did it take you to ride the full trail on way?
We broke it up and weren’t in any rush. But, my best guess would be somewhere between 8-10 hours of riding each way.
Where did y’all stay in cedar town?
At a hotel. I hesitate to mention the name as it wasn't great. It was passable, but nothing to right home about.
