Ms.Hopper, once again you have shown yourself to be an artist on the exact level or above the people you showcase. I have learned so much from your videos about photographers and people that I didn’t know were photographers. You really have a gift and I enjoy you sharing it with us!!!!
Hello Terry! Thank you so much for your kind words really appreciate it and wow what a compliment, thank you! Let's keep these videos coming and the ball rolling! :)
Love Erwitt. I’ve long admired his Pittsburg body of work - it was nice to see some of his color work here, too. Also cool to see the behind the scenes images from the Misfits - that whole production has many stories to tell.
Thank you David! I love the Misfits and whilst researching it one day I found out Erwitt had been a photographer on set and I was blown away, so cool. And yes his time in Pittsburg was productive and I love his work there!
Finally caught up with this one and you were right. Inspiring. Those opening words really hit hard and true. Thoroughly enjoyed the Sponsor character once again as well.
I'm so glad I discovered your videos! I've always been a big fan of Elliot Erwitt's work and you did a great job presenting it. I've been photographing with Leica's since 1968 and have owned my current M3 for 40 years. I have the Summicron trio of 35, 50 and 90mm. Nowadays I often use them on my Fuji X-E cameras.
I learn so much from you! The best of all photography channels on youtube! And you're funny! And you're videos are never boring! But so inspiring! And educational! Thank you so much!
Another good documentary of a professional photojournalist Elliott Erwitt. Like Henri Cartier-Bresson and Patti Smith, he captured the decisive moment but with the look of a snapshot. But unlike those photographers photographing more with sense of whimsy or irony. Most ironic square space commercial.
Man this one moved me. Of course I've heard of Elliot and have seen his photos, but the way you present everything has definitely helped me see it all a new way.
Really like this video as Erwitt is a Fav. for sure ! His style of photography is so right on . Not a big production but just always having a camera with you and shooting whatever amuses you . He seems to regard his camera not as a tool but as a friend . I like that ! ..... Cheers You ... :D
I agree, you done it again, when I was in City College in the mid 1970's in my Photo Editorial 93B that my teacher shown use a film strip of Erwitt as it was drawn to his work showing the one series of his Pregnant wife, and child leading to a small kitten. After class that I headed out to a bookstore, and found one book from the One time Publishing Company from the 1970's Petersen's that dealt in DIY, and Photography. So there was book from Elliot Erwitt, and I got it read it page to page, and seen the story of his wife, and then mentioning about in what happen to them that at that time I was engage, and she did not want me to continued with my photography, So I broke up with her, and I still continue with my art field. But in closing that in all those years since next year will be my 50th year in photography in which I have accomplished in what I have done in my years in what I have done from doing Fashion, and then working at a Camera store, and then traveling street photography that it can be a lonely life that I kinda felt like Erwitt when he was married in which I was not like the song saids "I have my Books, and my Poetry to Protect me".. Oh yes One morning he did made a surprise visit at where I work at the camera store in where we all had a chat, and that was in the mid 1990's.. Thank You....
That's very touching Alex and I think there comes a time where we all sort of have choices to make and either sacrifice personal or professional and what comes with it, in his case I guess he choose what felt right. Thank you for watching!
Thank you for making this video about Elliot Erwitt. I remember seeing his famous photo of the “kitchen debate” when I was in middle school. Hadn’t known till now he took the photo. Glad to see his other work in the video.
I studied a little of Elliot’s life in college. This video just brought me a lot of memories, and of course great narrative. Always loving your work. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@TatianaHopper HCB is the divine intervention that happened in my Life now 12 years ago & I assume he has that effect on all Street Photographers when they encounter his work.
Another banger. Another banger by Tatiana Hopper. Btw It was so fun to try to locate where the Hungarian pictures were taken. Some of those I walk by every day during my commute to uni.
When I saw that your next video was on Elliott Erwitt I knew that you’d do him justice with one of your in-depth and excellently crafted videos and you know what… you definitely didn’t disappoint! Great work :)
Amazing video. I love Elliot and is work ( one of my first photography books was from him and also another that I recommend from Magnum- contact sheets). But, I must say that you presented us with some amazing facts about is work and himself that I wasn’t familiar with! Thank you!
At first I was wondering what band this Elliot Erwitt guy was with. 😅 Another nice essay on a photographer with stunning images. I watched right through the sponsor ad as the shill persona makes it interesting compared to the de rigueur ads we normally see on other channels.
ahahaha that's so funny, yeah we do have a lot of different videos here on the channel, thank you for watching and appreciate your words! Glad you enjoyed the SS ad :)
I took art and photography history classes in college. They pale in comparison to this series. I would enroll in your class, although, since I'm subscribed here, I guess I have. I'm looking forward to more.
No worries Paul you do what you feel its right! I'm sure the girl I hired for the skit won't take it personally ahah Cheers for watching and supporting the channel!
wow - those Pittsburgh images are very powerful and a sad insight into the time. but my favourite image is the one at 9:30 from Krakow. I don't know why it's my favourite, it just speaks to me I guess :-)
As always, great video! And a very nice study on Erwitt. I always thought that it's easier to make people feel sad or cry with photographs rather than make them actually laugh out loud. Erwitt is one of the great ones who knows how to create something that's remarkable - visual, still comedy. Absolute legend. ;)
Thank you Nolan, appreciate your input and to be fair you do have a point as I think its way harder to make people laugh rather than feel sad with photography. Cheers for watching and may the force be with you ;)
Bravo - Great video of one of my all-time favourite photographers. I noticed that there was a recent film about Elliott Erwitt mentioned in your video; "Silence Sounds Good". I've done a number of internet searches to see if I could find either a streaming copy or a DVD/BluRay - but I've drawn a blank on all counts. Do you know of a source where the film can be sourced, please? Anyway, keep up the fantastic videos.
Same I couldn't find much, I think the film from what I read was exhibited at a film festival but after that I couldn't find much apart from the small clips I've used (link in description). Thank you for watching!
I saw the title of this video and got so happy! Recently I really got into Elliot Erwitt and his work, to an extent that it’s evolving and influencing my own photography. Since there’s not much content of Erwitt on YT, seeing your video and the way you delineated his work was so inspiring and great to watch. Thanks a ton for this and the great work you do. 🤍

Thanks for this video. I saw his exhibition in Paris few months ago, it was really cool. I really like his work. RIP Elliott Erwitt
