This is the best written game I have ever played, I bet looking at a single conversation flow chart would have more variables then most modern RPGs full script.
@@5Andysalive I'm not usually one to claim someone should "get" a game to enjoy it. But if you think a story about a man being at absolute rock bottom, in a city that's at absolute rock bottom, in a world that has a very clear and tangible threat to all those who live in it, could be about anything but absolute failure, I don't think you really got the point of the game. Disco Elysium is not New Vegas, nor was it ever trying to be. It's not even really much of an RPG at all to be honest.
Nice how you almost missed a perception check in real life to notice the perception check over your character's head to get the keys out of your pants. Heh.

Just started playing this game and have the chance to finally watch this video. In my first playthrough I picked a dialog option to try and convince Kim something was cool and failed, damaging my morale and making me give up on life. In a second playthrough I sat on a chair wrong and died immediately. 10/10
I am honestly amazed this wasnt the launch to a new series. I have been playing and yeah this is definitely series material. Like I am a bit amazed with how similar our characters are that we ended up with such different outcomes. Then again I went all in one Inland Empire, like 6 psyche + specialized empire, so I am a genuinely mad ham sandwhich.
My man Jon. Went for Outer Worlds over this on release, now I've watched this and downloaded DE about 5 mins after finishing. I've gone for a high Phys character (with "Shivers" tagged) with a little Psych and Motor thrown in. I never play RPGs as a phys/strength character so am trying it now. I've not even stepped out of the cafeteria yet but have already had a totally different opening to you - just two examples; I was unable to either fix "the Expression" in the mirror or get the tie down off the fan.
I don't know how I missed this video. This is hands down my favorite new game release in the last 5 years or so. I so thoroughly enjoyed my first play through. At one point my game ended when my detective gave up on life. I was completely flummoxed, having never experienced anything like that ever. I'm going to have to reinstall and play again now!
I drank most of a bottle of rum on Friday and played this absolutely stinko. Complemented the experience perfectly. That said, I somehow managed to close the game without saving because when I came back the following day, nursing my hangover, I realised I had to re-play the same section again. Which was *sort of* a good thing, because I realised I had almost no memory of the parts I'd played. There aren't quite words for how appropriate this experience was.
If you never made a follow-up video, I hope you at least finished the game - it's truly one of the best written I've ever played, a great piece of art.
1:08 motorics is an actual word... not in much use perhaps, but it is derived from motoriek in Dutch (which means something like the ability to move in a 'expected' manner or use of muscles). 10:18 is a another Dutch word: Klaasje, which means little Klaas. She is Miss Oranje (Miss Orange, as that is the national colour).
This game reminds me a bit of the old Infocom Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy text game where even the simplest task is abstracted to absolutely absurd lengths. I must play this.
This game is indeed GOTY material. Multiple playthroughs with different character builds fully possible. For example, I did not get the corpse down on the first day, but lets just say I had some *interesting* encounters and discussions along the way.

Just to let you know Jon, ceramic armour is a thing people use today. It's good for bulletproof plates because they can stop a wider range of rounds than steel. But the downside is that it doesn't last more than a few shot whereas steel can take at least 5 shots before it starts being ineffective
