  • We're so excited to share this month's web design challenge with you guys. It's a very special one.
    This time around, the company TopStackResume reached out to us to be the test subject for our students' redesign challenge.
    Basically, our students were tasked with redesigning the TopStackResume website.
    We picked the top 5 redesigns who will actually be building out their designs in Webflow. These live webpages will then be A/B tested by TopStackResume to see which design converts best!

    My guess is, the one with the long button will convert best. It is by far the best design for a business.

    At 11:28 you talk about "he left out the left one which probably is the cheapest one". I remember at 2015 the same tactic was used buy Google Drive packages. Back then, boss asked the secretary to purchase the cheapest package and she purchased the 2nd cheapest because she didn't understood she could swipe to the left (there wasn't a big arrow button - like the design you discuss - to a point that will catch your attention). It stayed in my mind as an interesting practice since then.

    Going through these designs is super helpful so thank you Ran! All of them were very solid designs. A key takeaway for me is that you could create the greatest design in the world, but if you don't make the product/service/goal clear right away, you risk losing a conversion.

    7:55 this design is off the grid. Why this has different margins on both left and right?

    • @lenonguyen
      @lenonguyen 3 роки тому +2

      Hi Asi, the design actually has the same margins on both sides. But because the preview was not set to scale down to fit Ran's screen width, it looked off the grid! You can check the design file in the info section to see the full design.

    About the "Text in the hero section must clearly indicate what this website is about and what you're trying to achieve"
    You have also suggested this during your portfolio reviews.
    My question is, if I am new to UX Design looking for an opportunity coming from a completely different background, what points can I highlight in the hero section message as I don't have any particular niche or experience to boast about yet

    • @FluxAcademy
      @FluxAcademy  3 роки тому +1

      to work for a company or freelance? if you want to work for a company, you should focus on making a list of the companies you want to work for, the type of design they do and make a portfolio that has that type of design with your twist. Adapt the language of your website to the language of those companies.
      If you're a freelancer, in the beginning is hard, but you can chose to focus on a niche and even if you get jobs or projects from other clients who are not part of the niche, you can still do them and then decide if you want to feature the project in your portfolio.
      If you try to communicate with everyone, it's harder to get someone to hire you. If you focus on a niche, copywriting talks to those people specifically and you have more chances that they contact you.

      @@FluxAcademyThankyou for your response. I am looking for my first full time UX design job preferably at a medium sized company.
      Also I have been self learning about UX for the past few months and I just have 1 project so far to showcase. Will this be a hindrance? Or is there a way to still present myself as a good candidate through that one project?

  • @dawidsikora5380
    @dawidsikora5380 3 роки тому

    I really don't get it. I've come across one of your previous videos and you recomended to choose one of three Hero headlines strategies - (What is it? What you get? and What Can you do with it?). While the rejected ones don't tell you specifically what it is, they do tell you what you're going to get. Am I missing something? :(

    • @izzyb4786
      @izzyb4786 3 роки тому +3

      Well, their service is promising you a solid resume more than anything else. That's what you're getting. That should be at the forefront of their messaging. Then, it'd be a good idea to talk about how this will help you get hired in the subhead.

    • @MarkFaamaoni
      @MarkFaamaoni 3 роки тому

      But "what you are going to get" has to be targeted at your target market: and in this case the target market isn't "everyone that needs to magnify their profile" or "everyone that needs to get hired." The target market is "people that need resume services that want to increase their chances of getting hired."

    • @stevenquadros9004
      @stevenquadros9004 3 роки тому

      I don't think it's about 'choosing' and answering any one of the 3 headline strategy. It's about making sure that your headline answers all 3 questions.
      For eg: The headline used in the first out of the 5 selected redesigns manages to answer all 3 of those questions in 3 lines.
      That's what makes it a better choice over the rejected ones.
      Atleast that's my interpretation, I hope it makes sense 😊
