Owls, wolves and Loctite deer. It's getting pretty wild in those woods.
Why does he put the loctite deer in his videos?
You forgot the Hoover bears!
Welcome the owls, they eat vermin. Win/Win
@@blakeherges8440 a few years back people got whiny, saying he was sponsored or trying to get a sponsor from loctite. This was all because he occasionally had a loctite bottle hanging out in the frame of a video he was working on. Now it's just a trope/troll.
@Mansur TAS now that is hilarious man! Thanks for the laugh! 😂
I like how he says “hand tools “ with a casual AR-15 in the background 😂
That AR15 is so cool!!

I love the chaps for the pocket chainsaw...lol.
Wouldn't want to send all the Safety Sallys into a tizzy.
The one great use I've found for these pocket rope saws is when you need to cut a limb that's really high. Throw a rope up and over, and then haul this up on a sturdier rope. The key, though, is to have a saw that has teeth on BOTH sides. Otherwise, when you drag it over the limb, it wants to flip to the smooth side as that's the least resistance, and by then you can't flip the chain over. A two-sided rope saw, in my experience, is a great alternative to ladders, pole saws, or an expensive call to the tree trimmer.
Yes !!! they are available on Amazon I bought one.

As an upstate New Yorker I appreciate your closing comments. Most people still believe New York is just NYC, the state is SO much more than that, home to the beautiful Adirondack and Catskill Mountains. I appreciate the content you put out consistently.
@Mc Kyle Dodongo ok
I leave upstate ny love it
Not watched a Wanglerstar video in a couple years, glad to see you're still a wholesome guy making happy, informative videos. The amount of land you own just makes me too jealous as an Englishman haha!
I could see that being useful in a motorcycle kit

What you mentioned at 6:25 came true for my best friend David. He cut his femoral artery and his wife found him dead hours later. (Angle grinding accident).
I LOVE that you just casually have an AR-15 in the back of your utv. Gotta keep out them pesky mountain lions to protect sweetloaf.
i actually bought one of these a while back and i noticed that if your not wearing gloves or something on your hands if you have them too close together as your cutting it’s quite easy to accidentally nick your fingers so watch out for that
S Shlept yeah i wasn’t even tired i just didn’t realise it was what would happen, learned the hard way to keep my hands apart haha
I was thinking about this exact thing while watching this video
I actually cut my thumb off for the 4th time the other day but its back on now.
I can’t find these do you perhaps remember the name of them
GREAT video! That little pocket chainsaw would be great to have in our car, because we HAVE encountered small downed trees here in the California Sierra blocking a road after a storm.
Wild Alpines strawberries have been a favorite, since I was seven (I am old 'smiling') and as we were climbing the north side of Mt St Helen's in Washington state my Dad said 'STOP' and he stood for 30 seconds inhaling the air and then pointed and proclaimed 'wild strawberries!'.
We (Dad Mom, and Aunt and me) all had two small collapsible canvas buckets and scurried up the mountain, dropped to our knees and for an hour picked strawberries. One for me two for the bucket. We all got a good gallons worth. Then saw huckleberry shrubs and spent another hour filling buckets of huckleberries until a momma bear with two cubs appeared in the distance and we left the area.
Who else was only fixated on his AR while he was talking about his supplies

I had a pocket chain saw but my strap ripped right in half
I keep one in my car emergency bag. I used it on one camping outing to process firewood just to see if it would hold up, and to see how well it works, and I was surprised at how well it worked. It takes up almost no space, and it actually works; so it's worth putting in a bug out bag or the glove box for sure.

Why wouldn’t you make a partial cut on one side of the tree and then line up and finish through on the other side to prevent the binding? I don’t know, I’m just from the east coast.
I was thinking the same thing
that wouldn't solve the binding. that would just move the binding from the edge of the tree towards the center of the tree. the problem mostly comes when the cutting radius becomes too small and the chain teeth dig in instead of chisel material out. The only solution is to attempt to reduce that radius by pulling the chain side to side instead of to and from yourself and that is a much more difficult motion.
Don't degrade yourself but, I see where you're coming from although that would equal to the same amount of inconvenience as just cutting through and fighting the bind (once it starts binding you having take it out, reposition yourself, reposition your chain, get down low again, aim the chain to be at the same height as your first cut, start the first cut again which is the hardest cut)
I should of read the comments first, just said the same thing. cheers
Don't worry, we're equally, if not more retarded out here in the west lmao.
Me : there is no such thing as a good pocket chainsaw
Me later: maybe I should buy that Japanese’s saw

Very interesting commentary at the very end there. I would be curious to hear your take on landscape architecture. What is your aesthetic for the land?
This looks pretty useful and something that I might consider purchasing and putting in my snowmobile kit. I have a small, foldable handsaw and shovel already but this might be a new thing to add.

So thats the saw you West coast guys use? No wonder you get so jealous of New York we put motors on our saws on the east coast. Eventually the technology will get to you but that may take a few more territorys to become a state and enter the union. Good luck with that shed queen of yours.
the big plus of pocket chainsaws is their pack size, I store a 66cm/26" one coiled into a small can for airgun pellets. Their downside is the width of the cut - removing more material takes more ellbow grease; not a big deal when cutting down a single tree once in a while, but cutting up large amounts of firewood in an emergency to survive a cold winter night will tire you fast.
When using it with two hands as you did, the chain will inevitably bind - unless you attach it to a sturdy curved branch or create a frame saw with it. Keeping the chain somewhat straight helps against binding, can be done handheld by two persons too.
Stay safe and take care
Love the east coast banter 😂
Funny how many people seem to take his jokes so seriously 😆 I'm from Virginia and think it's humorous
Pro tip: Put the nozzle right up to the top of the chain and barely press to get a small spray(hardly even enough to get a stream) and let it run down the chain.
Im a mechanic and have to use wd-40 and other penetrants to loosen stubbern and rusted nuts/bolts. It conserves supplies and generally helps when you want to only saturate the nut/bolt and not have penetrant pouring off of and pooling in areas.
This feels like it’s back to the good old Wranglerstar days. I miss these days. Fantastic content, Cody! I really enjoyed this and will probably rewatch it a few more times.
Sincerely curious here but what has changed if I may ask?

Bart Batton it has stock not a brace so it has to have a tax stamp, so it’s probably a sbr
@@ModMax69 it has a stock so I'm sure he has a tax stamp and is not showing an illegal firearm to the world.
@@ModMax69 There is a huge difference between a pistol arm brace and a buttstock. If it was a pistol, it legally can not be able to be shouldered when fired. You can't have a buttstock on a pistol and call it an "arm brace". Therefore, what he has in the bed clearly has a buttstock on it and is either an SBR that has a tax stamp or it is illegal. Please educate yourself before trying to correct someone. Look it up!

I found this channel like a couple days ago. Ive never been more intrigued and felt more mainly just watching video after video XD these are awesome to watch and i love learning the stuff you teach!
As an “east coast guy” I like that a city slicker like me could theoretically clear a tree or something in an emergency without accidentally chopping my leg off.
You are totally digging that Honda! I love mine. Such a work horse and time saver
New Englander here, haha. I have one of these, I think it's this exact model. It works quite well. I keep it in my hydration pack so it's with me when I mountain bike, it comes in handy for trail maintenance. Just two weeks ago I used it on a probably 8" tree that had fallen across the trail and was sitting up too high to ride over. I only had binding problems when putting too much force on the chain, if I used light pressure it didn't bind. It made quick work of the tree, probably a lot quicker than if I'd had a hatchet, which would have been much more unwieldy to carry with me. Total cutting time was probably less than 2 minutes.
Can we have more videos about the "home" part of homesteading? Food storage, preservation, meals, gardening, and such?

Hey, I'm not sure if you have a video of sharpening Axe's. If you do, could someone send a link? I own a gransfors bruks and would like to get a new edge on it.
That little chain saw would be perfect for a survival pack. Would be much easier for felling smaller trees than a hatchet. Carry that, a hatchet, a folding saw, and you could easily build a shelter and have unlimited firewood. Each has its purpose and does certain things better than the others. Cheap and useful item to have on hand.
I have that same one and I keep it in my motorcycle camping kit along with my small hatchet. As you mentioned. There are tons of cheap pocket survival saws that are just absolute rubbish and will break the first time you use. This type of pocket saw That is a good quality chain with good handles works surprisingly well. Most people have tried one of those cheap ones and never try another one... this is definitely worth picking up. Great video.

Have you ever seen a full sized tree? Just kidding but hey a 175 foot old growth Douglas fir is a sight every logger should see
I'll agree with what you said. It wouldn't replace a chainsaw or high quality pruning saw, however, for survival bags or emergency bags, it can't be matched for compactness and lightness.

I grew up only about an hour north of NYC. Never had much desire to go into the city. We lived Westchester county, NY, and Fairfield county, CT. Lots of woods, and we depended on them. I got one like that (maybe the same one). Shortly after it arrived I noticed a dead branch on the Japanese maple so I tested it on that and it worked very well - a nice clean, smooth cut. The only I would change would be to make the handles removable so you could more easily lubricate the chain without getting it on the handles.
