This was extremely helpful. If you just said it, I would not understand it but you showed illustration which made me understand it more. So basically you point your wheels to the left when you park uphill with the curb. I do have a question. Once I do the proper procedure when I park uphill with a curb, should I reverse my car until the front wheels touch the curb? Also, how far should I turn the steering wheel when I park until it gets locked?

An easy way to remember this is
uphill parking: turn the wheel up up and away. (towards your window)
and of course downhill parking is the opposite.
I'm taking my test tomorrow and one thing keeps bothering me.
Please when do you put the handbrake? Is it after you put the car to 'P' or after quenching your car? Please help

i am confused where to look when parking at the curb....should i look in front or the side of the car to see if it is down hill or uphill?sometimes when i look forward it is uphill..but when i look at the side of the road,it looks downhill..

Thank you! Usually new drivers need around 15 hours of practice before they are ready for the road test. :)

Yes, that would be the right way to do it. :)

I have a question? Do you need to use the neutral gear or park for the hill parking?
In an automatic car you must put it in PARK and in a manual car, put it in Neutral but do not forget to pull the hand brake in both the cases. You could also chose to put it in the first gear for additional safety in a Manual transmission 🙂🙏
Make wheels always at RIGHT position in all cases EXCEPT Uphill with Curb

Is there a sequence in the steps ?
I was told first Gear to Parking (safety ) , 2nd Wheels all the way to the right/left , then parking BRAKE .
and leaving the spot , first , parking Brake OFF , 2nd WHEELS straighten , then Gear to DRIVE also signal .
Am I correct in this ?
On the test they don't look at the sequence as long as you do everything. :)

Winnie Anand If you are asking from an exam perspective then just know that they don't take you on a hill to do a hill parking. It will be a flat road and they will ask you to pretend it is a hill. If it is a general inquiry then due to the hill you will need to accelerate harder to move forward and might have to switch between the brake and the accelerator very quickly when required. Hope this helps.

Ethel Barroso In an ideal scenario, you should let the wheels hit the curb. Bit on the test it doesn't really matter. They just want to know that you know which way to turn the wheel. :)

Yes! It is always good to. And on the test most of the times it is a flat road. :)
For the left you can use up and away

Down side to turning the wheel towards the no curb s8de is that pedestrians could get run over.
I know it's really really rare that that happens
