My grandfather worked mining and land clearing, he told us that throughout his decades long career they found a lot of statues like this, many of which were life size just like this or even larger, but because those statues were seen as "wrong" so they were destroyed, if only he knew the historical value that those statues had he probably would've tried to save a few, but I guess putting foods on the table for his family was the sole focus of a worker's life and not worth risking his job defying the orders of land owners and employer, or worse, be prosecuted for theft. I'm glad that they found this one and hopefully more will be unearthed by the right people.

FYI China Civilisation start 5,000 years ago. Chinese people migrated southwards to Vietnam, Thailand(Siam) Malaysia and Singapore. Back then Malaysia and Singapore are Siam or Thailand country. All these are Chinese people that later identified as Vietnamese and Thailand people. They are the same China people. Not surprising Bujang Valley Kedah is a Thailand city before the Malays from Indonesia migrated over and populated the Kedah cities. Bare in mind 1904, Thailand hand over Kedah, Perlis. Terenganu and Kelantan to the British.

I have seen one of the very old short standing lamp with relics of 4 elephant's head and one peacock at the middle on the top of the lamp just coincidentally caught by oldest brother fishing net in the river nearby my hometown in Kedah. My brother take those old fashioned lamp back to my home then at the middle on night my youngest sister at her child starting to crying hardly and continuously then leaving all of us in panic and fatigue along that night. My young sister just stop crying when its reaching almost at a dawn then she seems like really exhausting to crying anymore and the same situation happened to us for every middle of the night for a week. My father then seeking a paranormal healing because he spotted something went wrong with the situation. Just a moment a while the ceremonials started, a paranormal healer told us there are a very ancient young princess look alike wearing like very oldest Kingdom like Khmer or Ayutthaya appear to him. She said all of the messing was because my oldest brother bring back home those very old standing lamp to my home. After negotiating and discussion between the paranormal healer and the entity finished, the problem are settled as those ancient princess promise don't ever messing with my family anymore. My father then decided to give those ancient standing lamp to the paranormal healer then he hand over that's artifact to one of the Hindu's monk somewhere in Sungai Petani. The Hindu's monk really surprisingly and shock then want to pay some moneys to that's paranormal healer because the artifact are really old and rarely one. He said that time, Hindu are the first foreign relegion reaching to Kedah, more earlier than Buddha based on that artifact bronze made first sighting by him. The paranormal healer are very satisfied and he refuse to take the moneys because he's really in traumatized and already can not stand with a messing after messing anymore after take that artifact and he just give it to the Hindu's monk just for free and back home in happily. 😄😄

what is really sad is that our children are taught as though Malaysian history suddenly began in 1400 with an Islamic Melaka. The cultural influences of India in particular, and China, in South East Asia span over 2,000 years, starting perhaps with the arrival from India of the Brahmanical prince/scholar Aji Saka in Java in AD78, through to Vietnam, Cambodia (Indo China), Thailand, Burma, Indonesia, Bali, Borneo, Brunei and beyond.
We are led to believe that the Indians and Chinese first arrived on the shores of Malaysia in about 1850 as desperate indentured labourers, farmers and miners. Nothing could be further from the truth. The findings at Bujang Valley speak of an ancient Indian/Hindu presence in Kedah. There were Chinese settlements in Pahang and Kelantan around the 13 th -14 th century and in 12 th century in Singapore. The early Brunei Sultanate had a Chinese Queen. One need not ponder at length the implications of Angkor Wat and Borobudur or that 40%-50% of Bahasa Malaysia comprises Sanskrit/Tamil words.---Donplaypuks

hinduism is practiced differently from the Indian subcontinent and in Southeast Asia. same with Buddhism.
Buddhism were peaceful in india, different from Southeast asian ones as shown by Ayuttaya, Taungoo, and Srivijaya which all invaded each other and committed atrocities (forgot to mention Champa which were the worst one).
for hinduism, theres the Majapahit empire whos legacy still lives until today in Bali, Indonesia. it's practiced in a far more different way than in India.
moving on, theres the British and Portugese as well as Chinese Dynasties notice on the Peninsula.
the Chinese saw the Malays as pirates in the south china sea and observed the grwoing power of Srivijaya (which originated in Palembang which is where Malay culture comes from)
the first contact between Chinese and indians werent from the Strait of Malacca, instead its in the Mountainous regions between China and India. That is how Buddhism got to China in the first place.
the other evidence is the writing. Yes we used Sanskrit but its different to the ones Indians used. Not mutually understandable. just like Jawi to arabic, its merely a copy of Indian writings with a mix of the language used there which where known to be 'old Malay'.
moving on, Indians werent able to move to the peninsula in the first place. it wasnt until the great Tamil empire of Chola who were able to create a navy strong enough to cross the ocean to the strait of Malacca to fight the Srivijayans. Yes rape and other atrocities were committed giving birth to mixed indian/malays/natives.
this is proven by none other than Parameswara who is undeniably of a mixed descent. Parameswara werent muslim as Malays claimed but Malacca was establised under the term 'kesultanan Melayu' which translates to malay sultanate.
so my point is, what you said about Malays erasing and changing the truth is correct but claiming Indians were the native is too far.
Remember that Indians werent united. They were quite racist to each other during these times which was the reason Mauryan Empire collapse. it may be that Malays were actually a mix of Austronesian plus some ethnic group of India which was why our skin is brown

1200 years is not so long ago… If you can trace the prominent family that brought buddhism to Malaysia then they might have a link to this. Even if finding out if they’re not connected is also a connection or clue... Like was it the “Khoo’s” or the “Lim’s” or from Siam or Angkor wat or somewhere totally unrelated or unexpected. That would make an interesting story.

It could even being buried by the British or someone else for some reason we don't know yet. So far, we have no proof to say who and why it was being abandoned. If only I could travel back in time to see the proof for myself and let you know why it is being abandoned.
