    So does this mean if I’m saved, I know Jesus and accepted him and I’ve turned from sin... but then I decide to return to that son despite what I now know going against my conscience and the Holt Spirit that are convicting me... I could lose salvation?

      Absolutely not, god saved you and its a gift! its not by works but a gift of god by grace. He doesn't get it wrong, you are hidden in christ, sealed by the holy spirit. This verse is talking to those who have heard but where not born again. Saved.

    HEBREWS was most likely written by Paul, and the parts of the scriptures the ar e threatening are NOT to christians, it is to those who effectively if you like 'go to church, hear the word etc' but never responds to it. SO many preachers get `hebrews so wrong, must always read every scripture in the context of the book.

    What does this do to the doctrine of election/ predestination? So, one can indeed lose their salvation?

      Salvation is eternal, it cannot be lost. The blood of Christ covers all sin, willful sin included.

  • @jimkraft9445

    You need to read it in the text. The converted Jews were being pressured into going back to animal sacrifices and in doing that they would be saying Jesus one blood sacrifice was not good enough. It says, God will judge HIS people. Saved Jews. Those that already had eternal life by faith alone in Jesus alone for the free gift of eternal life. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believe on Him who justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for HIS righteousness.
    God does chasten HIS children. Not condemn them to hell. John 3:18 Believers are no longer condemned, but unbelievers are condemned already because they have not believed on the name of the Son of God. John 1:12. First John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may KNOW YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. John 6:47 Our sin debt is paid in full. past, present, and future sins we have not even thought of yet.
    Romans 4:6-8.

      So is it a disagreement with what the preacher has presented?
      I'd like to understand it well. As a Christian who's been chastened...so now when for example, you've read that verse about our sin debt being paid, does it then mean that whenever you're about to sin and you fall, that this scripture (Hebrews 10:26-31) doesn't apply to you or?

    • @jimkraft9445
      @jimkraft9445 Місяць тому

      @@Bradchacha Hebrews 13:5. For He hath said, I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU. Believers can be chastened by the Lord, (Colossians 3:5-6) but never loss of eternal life or that would make God a liar. John 6:47. God cannot lie. John 6:40. John 3:18. John 3:16. Jesus said it, we believe it, and that settles it.
      Context in the bible is imperative. Who is the writer writing to and why. We have to rightly divide the word of truth.
      The truth is we are all sinners. Romans 3:23. There is none righteous, no not one. Romans 3:9-10. First John 1:8. If we say we have no sin, we are deceived and the truth is not in us.
      Romans 5:19-21 Where sin abounds, grace much more abounds. Romans 6:23. For the penalty for sin is death, physical death, but the GIFT of God is ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus finished work on the cross.
      First John 5:13. These things have I written unto you that BELIEVE on the name of the Son of God, THAT YE MAY KNOW YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. God said so. John 3:18. Believers can no longer be condemned, but UNBELIEVERS are condemned already because they have not believed on the name of the Son of God.
      John 10:28-29 No one can pluck us from His hand or HIs fathers hand.
      The gospel. First Corinthians 15:1-4. Christ died for the sins of the whole world. First John 2:2. Romans 1:16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the POWER of God unto salvation to everyone that BELIEVETH, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
      Galatians 1:6-9. Though we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you than that we have preached unto you, LET HIM BE ACCURSED. As we said before, so say I again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received from us, LET HIM BE ACCURSED.

      How do we tell false teachers, the wolves in sheep's clothing? Matthew 7:15-23. They preach another gospel. Not first Corinthians 15:1-4. They boast in themselves instead of what Jesus did for us. They call Jesus Lord, and boast in all their good works, but have never done the will of His Father in heaven.
      John 6:40. And this is the will of Him who sent me, that ALL that seeth the Son, and believeth in Him, may have everlasting life, and I WILL RAISE HIM UP ON THE LAST DAY. John 6:29. Jesus, answered, and said unto them, this is the work of God, that ye BELIEVE ON THE ONE HE HAS SENT.
      Romans 4:5-8. Faith apart from works. Faith is not a work. And the GIFT of God is eternal life. Not temporary life or probationary life, but He ETERNAL LIFE. Romans 3:26-28. Where is boasting then?

      @@jimkraft9445 so basically you're saying "Yes I'm disagreeing with him?"
      Because it's not that I don't read the Bible, I do. I don't believe in people losing their salvation. Brother Piper pointed that out even in Hebrews 10:14...so my question again is; are you disagreeing?
      Because I know of John 17 also where Jesus prays not for the whole world, but for those whom the Father has given Him. Though yes, He did die for the whole world. The gospel is the power of salvation unto everyone that believes. But again, we have to contend with this scripture we're reading - yes I agree with context (from verse 18 going back it deals with what you've mentioned about going back to sacrifices.) but again to my question, does it mean then that this scripture doesn't apply to you after being saved? Given Jesus paid our debt. Because it does say "the Lord will judge His people". Then there's Hebrew 6:4-6, and 2 Peter 2:20 and 1 John 5: 16-17.
      Or do you mean that the chastening is us coming under His wrath or experiencing His wrath right now on earth because of our being saved but still continuing in sin?

    • @Bradchacha
      @Bradchacha Місяць тому

      @@jimkraft9445 also the scripture you've quoted - 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 - does say that by this gospel we are saved, if we hold firmly to the word (Paul) preached to us. Otherwise, you have believed in vain..
      Seems to continue with the endurance that Hebrews 10:32 onwards speaks about. So...I'm wondering..

      Hello David Murray, what is your understanding of that verse 10:26? Is it related to any random sin we commit wilfully after coming to the knowledge of truth and go to hell or is it related to the context of the letter to the Hebrews, which is the returning of believers back to Judaism and their sacrificial system, by falling from the faith in Jesus and his atonement of our sins?

  • @bg81973
    @bg81973 4 роки тому +5

    it is not such a puzzle. the answer is the same that falsifies "once saved-always saved". no one "has been" saved. those who are in Christ Jesus are "being" saved just as Paul speaks of those being sanctified. these things, including salvation, are on-going throughout our lives. being washed in the blood and baptized in water has been confused with "salvation". salvation means that we are saved "from" something. that something is the wrath of God against sin. we are not "saved" until it is over. thus Paul exhorts us to FINISH the race and not stop short. note: Noah was not saved half-way through building the ark. he was saved by finishing the ark and being inside of it when God poured out his wrath. we too have to finish our work and be in Jesus in that day of wrath.

    It is rather unfortunate, that we should have need to rely on Hebrews 10:26-31 for any enlightenment regarding Jesus. Its author, Paul, was a self-confessed deceiver of men.
