Once you get past how everybody makes fun of hillbilly accents and banjos these days, you realize this is some of the best music around if you're in to family, country living and even gospel. Religion was big in the hills. There is more to it than those things but musical talent shines regardless of the genre

I've had a love/hate relationship with this song since I went in the Navy. In military service your last name becomes your name and I had this song sung to me at least once every day by people who couldnt sing. The worst part was the self-satisfied laugh afterwards because EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM was certain they were the first to think of it. Still, great version of a classic. Kudos

When I was a teen I went to a bookstore and bought a double disc set of the Doors greatest hits and a book by A.A. Attanasio called Wyvern. Now both the book and the band are inextricably connected in my mind.

This sound production is outstanding too. The sound of the instruments and vocals is absolutely beautiful. That's part of their beautiful sound. They have a hell of a sound editor, mixer, producer, microphones, etc. Wow. There's a depth and clarity to this that is amazing.

In 6th grade, my mom fulfilled my Halloween dream and sewed a Purple People Eater costume for me... with wings, a gold horn and one big eye. Even though the song, at that point, was two decades old and my classmates were confused, I wore it proudly! Best and strangest costume of my childhood!
Love The Doors. Love this song. And I love the new version I just heard. Thank you to The Dead South for bringing originality back to the music industry. Originality, even when doing covers. Something only real talent can achieve. Amazing.

@@jeffduncan9140 I Absolutely Love Pink Floyd too. I'm what I like to call an "old soul" when it comes to music, because alot of bands I like were way before my time, but I Do have very eclectic taste in music, and appreciate several styles and genres of different bands. 🙃
If Anthony Zaleski was actually a cousin of Ray Manzarek you would think he should be able to spell his name correctly. Ray chose to spell his last name as Manzarek but it really was spelled Manczarek. Ray dropped the letter c to make pronunciation easier.

The Dead South are the first 'modern' band in a very long time whose music I really like [yes I'm a 60s child and always will be]
They've got a unique sound - love the banjo and big bass.
