Thank you! This girl just fixed her leaking A/C! There was a blockage in the pvc drain hose. I was able to blow most of it clear but could feel it wasn’t 100%, so I removed it and ran water through it…. A blob of black gunk game out (likely dog hair!) and now it is all clear! NO tools required!
Tonight, I noticed a puddle of water on the floor at the bottom of my furnace so before freaking out, I turned to UA-cam as I typically do in these situations and found your video. So from one Minnesotan to another, THANK YOU!!!
Thank you so much! It's 4th of July weekend and my basement was soaked. I replaced the hose so I knew that wasn't the issue. Exactly as you said would happen, once I got the connector off, water gushed out for a while. The connector was all gunked up. I cleaned it out and now its draining perfectly. I feel like I should send you a check or some cookies at least. Thanks again for taking the time to share this with everyone as you saved me having to not only call a professional, but pay extra on a holiday weekend.
Used my shop vac and sucked the blockage out of the PVC drain tube, tons of nasty water caught in the shop vac. Instantly the new condensation started draining so much faster, no back up. This video just saved me hundreds of dollars. Thank you.
Hey just wanted to say THANK YOU!!! it was my drain pan and not my condensate pump, all I did was pop off the clean out and the suction unclogged the drain! Condensate pump immediately kicked on and water drained into my washtub, so proud of myself🤣🤣🤣
I have to do this tomorrow. It leaked a little beginning the end of last summer and we are supposed to have lots of heat this year and there is that water puddle coming out at the bottom of the combo ac/furnace. My husband died 4 years ago and it has never been cleaned out for the past 12 years that I know of. Maybe much longer as the furnace is 35 years old and the air conditioner is past 20. Yay...thanks for your video. I got the area all cleaned up and the drain pipe all washed out from the 2nd bend on but still a puddle so it's gotta be in one of the two elbows (or in between) that are near where the drain pan is. At least tomorrow will be cooler and the puddle is on a concrete floor! Thanks for the video!!
Thank you 4 years later. Easy fix for me. As you mentioned there was a lot of water that drained out once the clog broke free.....even more than a towel would soak up and you sure don't want it running into your furnace. I used a piece of cardboard to make a v-channel ramp for the water to drain away from my furnace and into a bucket.
Today I called my wife while I was at work and I told her to turn on the ac since it was gonna be the first hot day we’ve seen this year 88 degrees so I actually just put a new filter yesterday so she turned it on and I got home about 8 hrs later to find water all around my furnace and sure enough you helped me again!
Thank you very much, Word of Advice TV. I like to challenge myself learning new things. Viewing these type of tutorials keeps me aware of safety and of what I should not do myself. This is a great one. Thanks again.
Thank you! This worked. Mine was solid PVC but I took an air compressor and blew it out from the outside end of the drain. I appreciate you posting this.
Great video! I followed your steps and, just like you said, the blockage would be inside the fitting at the furnace if it wasn't immediately in the drain line. I stuck my stretched out hanger into the furnace and... just like that... water came started pouring out! Lol I saved the money of calling an AC guy out, and also able to turn my AC back on without fear of it leaking and further warping my laminate hardwood floors! Thanks, man!
Amazing! I blew out the hose and a bunch of crap came out of there😂Then I cleaned out the white thingie and now it’s running like a dream. Thank you so much! Very helpful
Thank you. Great video, straight to the point. Our system has pvc pipes, so we gently tapped on the pipe for a while. Water started going into the overflow reservoir, and the pump took care of it.
Thank you!!! When I saw my condensate pump was working, I panicked and nearly called a technician. Your video basically pointed me to the cleanout. I had a pipe cleaner sitting on top of my dryer that my wife bought for cleaning lint. Five seconds later, this problem was history! I wish I could give you 1000 likes!!!
I had the same setup as the video and water does come out of the plastic nozzle but when I connect the plastic tubing to it, no water comes out and it's a brand new tubing?
Thank you for this! Saved us a lot of money and frustration. Brown gunk (likely from the hard water) clogged up the fitting. Used a metal clothes hanger to break it up. Water is free flowing again. Thanks!
This was a life saver. There was a blockage in my fitting, causing the water to spill over. I got the clog out and drained all the water then put it back together. Now it seems to be fine. Thank you!
Thank you....I am the unlucky one and do not have a hose for the drain....rigid PVC and it was clogged. I used the air compressor as you said and it started flowing. Also took off the cover to the coils and looked at the drain...WOW...Had to spend some time cleaning it up and now the drain is clear. Thank you for the video and suggestions.
If I didn't know better I would have sworn you were in my basement. I have the exact same setup. Your video was the solution to my problem. Thank you so much, you saved be a lot of money. You are awesome!
Wow I had the same issue and all I did was just pull the hose and water was spraying everywhere. Then I inserted the hose back and voila problem solved. Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Worked for me on a Carrier furnace in Canada, i couldn't remove the elbow so I stuck a doubled up pipe cleaner bent on a curve into the elbow to clear it. I drained out about 2 litres out. Thank you.
Awesome!! What an amazingly helpful, concise video! Was very worried to find water all over the floor around my furnace (of course on the hottest day of the year) and was not looking forward to the repair bill on this- thank you so much for the tips! Found a bug covered in sludge plugging the plastic connector that connects the condenser drainage pan to the hose- (you weren't kidding about all the water that comes out when it's plugged- glad I had a towel ready for that!). All seems well now. Liked and subscribed- thanks man!!😁
Absolutely love hearing stuff like that! Thank you for taking the time to leave the comment and I'm glad you were able to get it fixed. You're the man! 💪 I appreciate the like and subscribe. Stay cool and have one heck of an awesome week!
I had taken the drain on the furnace side all apart and it wasn’t plugged. I stupidly didn’t follow the line from the sump hole back or I would have seen the T to the drain for the air-conditioner. It was plugged. I got it now. Thanks.
Thanks bud, found a dead bug clogging mine up, new water heater was put in a few months ago and couldn't tell where the water was coming from. Was worried it was the new heater!
its a cold winter day here, furnace set at 67 and we have a lot of water draining from the comp Pump, even in the winter should there be water coming out ?
Thank you for sharing. I will fix mine. it seems I have the same problem. Basement is a puddle. Hopefully this will fix. Thank you again for your upload. Keep up the good sharing.
What do call that clay like sealant around the fitting? I think my leak comes from there because it is chipped. I would like to repair it but I don’t know what it’s called.
@@WordofAdviceTV Thanks for reply. I actually got plumber putty at home. I thought it may need to be some special compound specifically for duct seal originally.
Thanks for this video! I was just about to call an HVAC company when I thought I should Google and found this! Turned out the drainage hose was so clogged I had to take it outside and blast it out with my garden hose. Why was it so clogged? Because I had been away for a few months, and forgot to change the furnace filter before I went away. It got so clogged that it buckled and pulled away on one side so who knows how much dirt and dust got through? But the pvc hose was clogged from one end to the other. Took a while for the water blasting to work and had to reverse ends a few times before I finally got water to come out the other side. I got soaked in the process! Hopefully the drain pan under the evaporator coils isn't full of more debris, but I will now be checking that hose periodically to make sure it's open.

Your last tip about the pipe being secured directly, was exactly what I’m dealing with! Thank you so much for the content and information.

Thank you immensely. Another gal just fixed a bad leak. So grateful, this was the only video that helped and it was a simple fix!!!!!!🎉
You saved me $$$ on a furnace diagnosis. Thank you

You saved us!!!! this worked well and we can now go to bed with out any flooding. Gross mold came out with a ton of water. Great fix
5 years later blowing out the clog(reversed direction) saves my night. Thanks you!

Dripping from the bottom. I tried your advice-worked! I used a pipe cleaner. Like the crafting kind to get into my permanent fitting. Pulled out gunk.

Thank you for your help , I just fixed my furnace, it was leaking
Thanks for the help! Hoses were good, but your insight on the 90deg fitting out was my problem... clogged.
How about the condensate p trap that is in the lower compartment? Does that need to be looked at?
I had taken the drain on the furnace side all apart and it wasn’t plugged. I stupidly didn’t follow the line from the sump hole back or I would have seen the T to the drain for the air-conditioner. It was plugged. I got it now. Thanks.
Glad to hear you eventually did track down the problem spot! :) Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you!!! Worked perfectly🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉👍🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Dude thankyou! Was exactly the problem I had going on except lower down in the 90 by the floor. Cheers!

Thank u you saved me 100 off this video ! I appreciate you !
You're welcome! Glad I could help :)
Wondering what putty or seal compound you use to seal surrounding of liquid line and suction line goes into evaporator coil? Thanks!
It's called plumber's putty. You should be able to find it in most hardware stores or buy it on Amazon: Plumber's Putty: amzn.to/3j1JRZl
@@WordofAdviceTV Thanks for reply. I actually got plumber putty at home. I thought it may need to be some special compound specifically for duct seal originally.
Hey are you from Minnesota? I live in Albert Lea. I could tell from your accent almost immediately!
Yep it fixed it. I had to do this before like 15 years ago.
Thank you 🙏 your video helped me solved the problem with my ac.

That did it! Thanks so much.
