I travelled this same route, albeit by taxi in 2018 and 2019, with my late wife, so this video brought back some painful yet precious memories. Thank you.
Very useful, thank you. I assume that, if staying at one of the hotels further out from the Athena Beach, there is a left turn towards the hotels road from the dual carriageway a bit earlier than where you turned down?
Yes there are a lot of hotels to the left of Athena beach, I will put up a video that walks sea front all the hotels on that strip soon. ( Just need time to edit it 😃) thanks for watching 👍
You are most welcome, I am pleased it will help, good new as you know in Cyprus we drive on the same side as in UK and basically road rules are the same, but make sure you drive defensively and keep to speed limits, as to a lot if tourist fron Europe they feel they are in the wrong side of the road lol 🤣
@@andymccall6861 Paphos and Cyprus just recently have had some torrential thunder storms with local flooding and very rough seas, that's not normal for Cyprus until winter January/ February time.
We were staying at Alexander the Great about the same time you made this film. It was my first return for a few years and I was very surprised to see the grey skyscraper rising up nearby.
@@TravelswiththeRussells Literally a sore thumb. Also ventured on to bar street a couple of late afternoons to visit a bar I'd been recommended. It looks like the area has been bombed. Bar was OK tho, quirky setup with Cypriot/ Australian manager, Aces Sports Bar.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting 👍😎 25 years ago we came on a week's holiday in January, loved it so much bought a "holiday home" 2 years later we moved permanently to Cyprus and spent the next 15 years with Cyprus as home, Living and working in Paphos, unfortunately family commitments brought us back to UK, but we still have a "holiday home" in Cyprus.
Thanks for this. I'll be taking the 612 bus, but it was good to know how long the journey takes. I can see that I need to get off where Pafos Medical 24 is. My hotel is along the first turning on the right after that.
As an ex-pat used to driving on " the other side of the road" , and hoping to holiday in Kato Paphos this year , I'm apologising AHEAD , if I'm the driver heading towards you " on the wrong side of the road " !!!
Hi that would have been great, but unfortunately (should that be fortunately 😁) we are currently on a cruise back end of November for Christmas in UK .
Actually, Kato Paphos means Old Paphos. This was the original Paphos that was where it was first settled. Hence the Tombs of the Kings and House of Dionysis. What you describe as Old Paphos ‘up the hill’, is Neo Paphos, which means New Paphos! Confusing isn’t it?
@@RiazKhan-qy3rv hi thanks for watching 👍😎, taxi generally around 35 - 45 euro to Kato Paphos or Paphos town but like everywhere depends on time of day, number in party and exact destination etc ... 👍
@RiazKhan-qy3rv hi most all car hire companies in Cyprus will deliver cars to anywhere ( within reason) I don't use any one car hire company, but do use a web site called discover cars they often give best prices . Hi thanks for watching 😎👍, to answer your question Cyprus is very very easy to drive in, they drive on the same side of the road as we do in UK, and basic road rules are exactly the same as UK. The only difference is speed / distances are in kilometer not mph. Drive defensively as remember a lot of OTHER road users on holiday are from countries that don't drive on the left so it different for them. British find it just like driving in UK 👍👍

Is the king Jason hotel on the main road into Paphos ? (Near Athena beach)
No the king Jason is not on the front at all, it's a 5-10 minute walk to the sea from the king Jason ( which is a hidden gem of a place 👍👍)
I love the athena beach hotel 😍. Best all inclusive I've been to 💖
