So glad to hear another drummer giving it up for Phil Collins. While not a drummer, I have always loved Phil's drumming......especially in the '70s. Phil had a sound, but beyond the Toms, he had the ghost notes and cymbals. Collins was so nuanced and subtle. Musical! (saw him live once.....he and Chester brought down the house).
The amount of vocabulary this guy has is mindblowing. Dude always manages to sound absolutely appropriate in every different genre he plays. A true master of his craft.
I do belive some fun video will be the day Mr. Casagrande will face his biggest afraid and face an entire Jazz song. Hehe I'd love the watch that. Great person and musician.
Hey, that's my name! Thanks Andrew for the reaction! Another funny fact: in IP&T, Eloy has a room only for him to practice and teach, so his official drum kit is in there, and the guy studies literally every day, all day consistently (09:00AM-18:00PM), giving lessons at the weekends when he is not on tour. Really nice, accessible and humble guy. He is so humble that it is actually strange for normal people like us that don't to half of what the does! Everyone that has the opportunity should go to the institute to meet the teachers of brazilian rhythm there.
No additions, my friend, he is nailing the record beat by beat. Such a great drummer playing the music of another drumming legend. Awesome, what a treat!
Fernando Casaratto, my dear cousing. What a great song and drummer for a request video. Eloy is such a complete drummer and an example for us all. IP&T is a formidable school with great teachers, the time I studied there was phenomenal.
Phil is also an amazing writer and composer. I still love the soundtrack to Tarzan, he went hard on every song. Eloy did really great on that, cool to see him play something a bit different.
Hello Andrew. In this video, he is paying tribute to his late father, a Phill fan. Maybe someone here has already said that. Furthermore, he wore his best shirt for the performance. Very beautiful. And yes, Eloy likes Phill, he grew up listening to it and was certainly influenced
Back to the basics like Collins, Porcaro, Copeland, Carr, Van Halen (to name a few), who helps shape the modern drum sound/style at the beginning/mid 80´s. We´re in debt with them for all the eternity. Some people says Collins wasn´t a big drummer, but we all need to hear his work on 70´s Genesis albums or simply take a look at his first Brand X album is just superb.
In a Drumeo vid with Eloy he talked about how he used to not use ghost notes until one of his Brazilian drum teachers emphasized their importance to being in the moment and in the groove. Eloy said he now uses them basically in every part he plays. Fun to see it here and recently in his drum cam videos with Slipknot. Nearly every comment mentions his use of ghost notes as they're just so ...... groovy :) Thanks for doing what you do, Andrew. Like Eloy, you can tell you love what you do good sir! Here's that Eloy Drumeo vid for those interested. Mesmerizing watch: ua-cam.com/video/frGudzQ8flg/v-deo.html
Notably, only three drummers have played for Phil Collins - Ricky Lawson, his son Nic, and the legend that is Chester Thompson. You need to do some Chester videos, Andrew.
@@AndrewRooneyDrums When Phil moved to the mic in Genesis after Gabriel left they needed a Weather Report veteran to step in live to cover - Collins' prog and fusion drumming in the 70s had serious chops and groove whether he was a millisecond behind the beat or right on top of it. It always sounded effortless and never flashy for the sake of it. Need to cover some of his stuff from his beast years in the 70s.
Fun fact: According to a friend of Eloy's who got interviewed. Apparently Eloy practices up to 8 hours a day and would turn down hanging out with his friends just so he could practice.
Completely straight, beat for beat cover, including the ghost notes. Underlines what a great drummer Phil is, and how great Eloy is keeping up and actually playing with a bit more energy than Phil does. Love his improv at the end, too. On the tom tuning, Phil said somewhere that he likes them to sound like seals... 😂
@@AndrewRooneyDrums It is indeed. Would be marvelous to have your reaction on some Brand X stuffs with Phil too. Nuclear Burn, Malaga Virgin, Running of Three, Macrocosm etc.
I've been down the drumming rabbit hole for a few days, and can't help but feel Eloy Casagrande's immense talents are being wasted on Slipknot. He's such a fantastic, versatile drummer and seems like a really nice guy. This is the type of guy that should be a fixture on the "big show" scene like a Kenny Aronoff, not hidden behind a Halloween mask playing death metal.
sorry but i have prosopagnosia. not as bad as oliver sachs who did not recognize himself in a mirror. but i don't always recognize folks out of context. i know it is you because the caption says so. but if a pic of collins were put there i doubt i could tell the difference. don't grow a beard or i might confuse you with rob halford. oh yeah the tattoo.actually being like this is not funny but neither is life so laugh anyway.
Dude seriously...Stop choosing the worst videos (still amazing) to react to. So many others better ones. Like any Casagrande&Hanyz. Or better, react to them all :)
He played this song in memory of his father, that passed away and was a huge fan of Phil...
My favorite thing about Eloy is the way you can tell he absolutely loves what he does. He’s practically dancing while he plays.

I'm not surprised at his work ethic.
It's no fluke or accident!!!
Thanks for this outstanding pick Fernando!

I thought the same......no additions. All Phil.
He played this cover of Phil Collin’s as birthday gift to his father
Wonderful 🙌
And then you see him with slipknot and you can just tell that is the same calm drummer his musicality is just outstanding
Yeah it's all within his headroom
Phil Collins' work up until 1977 honestly is unbeatable. You don't get 80s pop without 70s Prog
And you don't get 70s Prog without Stax Records and Motown.
Rooney, you should check Casagrande's side project Casagrande & Hanysz. I bet you gonna love it!
Eleoy played that right on the money, no additions, thats nuthin' but Phil...fills. So good to see, thanks for this!
This cover was a tribute that eloy made to his father,
because his father was Phill's number one fan.
(he even dressed like Phill)😁😁
Eloy played every single Phil Collin's drum hit; no additions. And I believe he tuned his toms to the song as well 😀
Great reaction Andrew. The space between those notes on the fills is sublime and helps the music breath !
Yup it's soooo hard to explain that! It appears easy when people have it mastered

💯agree on everything you said!
I love this song! Cool react! Congrats and regards from Brazil.
Hey! Thanks for watching

Brilliant cover. Eloy is groovy on this one.
SMASHED IT

They definitely are a bit of a habit.
I find it hard to not play ghost notes

You are right.
And OMG Ricky Lawson

With eyes closed, just feeling it
Yup!
Even put on a Polo shirt for authenticity.
All the videos Eloy records in the studio that you see in this video are recorded on an EA10
Phenomenon, simple as that!
YUP
Fun fact: According to a friend of Eloy's who got interviewed. Apparently Eloy practices up to 8 hours a day and would turn down hanging out with his friends just so he could practice.
Yup that's pretty common for a high level player
I don't think he added anything, just did a great job covering Phil note for note. Phil was amazeballs.
So damn awesome!
Yup 💯💪
The lick at 8:34
Meaning Phil is that Goooood!!
Yup Phil is the man!
Brazilian music is very rich in rhythms, Eloy came from this school, and needless to say he is a nerd.
Excellent video
somebody has to mention how good his K.I.T.T sounds
I'd love to see you check out All That Remains' Anthony Barone playthrough of Divine
The syncopath part is original
You gotta do a video on i prevail‘s drummer!!

Phil is legit a drumming great. Superb player
So damn awesome 😀😀👌👌
Eloy can play anything
6.12 no Eloy addition pretty sure that's on the original
Oh wow. Cool parts
@@AndrewRooneyDrumsYou should know more about your twin brother 😜
Please react to his recent drumcams from playing with slipknot
Will there be a reaction to the new archived videos of Joey's performances?

Now Andrew will do a 4x4 beat lmao!! #drumteacher lol
What sound goes into the drummer's ear?
Just a gentle warm up before slipknot.....
GJ Phil🙃
No mics on the toms, just overheads and really hard hits
Someone please buy andrew a Bsrby set lol
its recorded on an EAD-10
Nice Kitt shirt! Knight Rider was big over there? Of course it was! Lol. Sweet!
6:12 - no :D
Great drum parts then! 🤯🤘

Hi... No "Eloy" additions my man, all pure Phil Collins stuff.
No reso heads either…. Authenticity… first class
Yup!
Well, you are definitely not In the Hair Tonight. 😘
what's up, Andrew? How are u? u need to know and react for us to one of Eloy's greatest works, called: Resolution. u will be surprised.
And just to clarify things, Eloy didn't join slipknot, slipknot joined Eloy
No Eloy addition. He did that note for note.
Perfect cover. No there were no additionalarts added by Eloy
Where are the mics.
I believe he's using EAD10
There are an EAD10 on that kit.
Easy stuff for Eloy. Check out his druming when he was 14. Collins is a good drummer but no where near Eloys level.
sorry Phil
Man... Please do the Eloy Battery Cover... it is sickening.

He has a long career ahead of him!
All the “he has no feel” people all crying while watching this lol this is so easy for him too, he could learn a song like this in 30 minutes
Whoever has said Eloy does not have feel has no idea
30 min ???
He learned a metal song by listening it 2 times only.
For this this one, he need 10 min.

Disappointed. Eloy didnt beat the drums like they owe him money!
This is just class
