Nice first video! I owe you a debt of gratitude. We ordered a Countryman SE at the weekend. Yours is the only video where I have seen the Boost button mentioned and that made me check specs and discover that the JCW Sport gets the button, but the other SE variants do not. Easy access to all the power the car has regardless of driving mode seems like an important thing to have so today we switched our order to a JCW spec car identical to your review model. We would never have done that if I hadn’t seen you mention Boost, so thank you for doing that. Have a sub from me as well as this comment and a like.
11:58 you can adjust the height of the HUD projection in the settings menu on the central display. I am 6’4” and it’s perfect for me when adjusted correctly. I agree that the AR navigation with camera and turn graphics is awesome!
I was quite sure it was just me being thick, but I didn’t have quite enough time to work it out. Now I’ll know for next time, thanks Angus! And yeah, that AR navigation is incredible.
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch it! That’s a tough question. The Tesla Model 3 is my favourite electric car, so you’d think I’d choose the Y in a heartbeat. As much as I enjoy driving the Y, I’m not a huge fan of the styling/body shape, and I like that the Countryman is more compact. I’d say the Countryman is more of a driver’s car too in the way it handles so responsively. I have to say the Y feels roomier though, and I love the automated driving especially in traffic when you can just sit there and match the movements of the car in front of you. Those things will be hugely important for a lot of people. All in all - for me, I would choose the Countryman SE because I found it such a great combo of practical and fun. But I think both are a great choice. I’m sorry I couldn’t give you a more decisive answer my friend!
Thanks for the kind words! It means a lot. The HUD can be tweaked to the driver's height, I've subsequently found out, so perhaps I was a bit too harsh on it.
I love the new electric models they have. The only thing that bothers me is the downgrade of materials. The mini felt and looked so luxurious before and the new ones remind me of smart cars… it’s the fabric dash for me that makes it look quite cheap tbh. The new seats are a hit or miss in my opinion. The chesterfields still look 100 times better than the new ones, but there are very pretty options for the new ones too. The very stiff color combinations is the other thing that bothers me really. If I am buying a car of that price range, I want to be able to choose which seats are going good with which fabric since I have to have the dash fabric
We’ll have to disagree on the seats, I absolutely loved them! And I quite like the fabric dash too - I guess that’s why cars are such a great talking point, everyone’s got a different opinion. I do agree on the colour combos though. I like the exterior colours, but the interior could be spiced up a bit and given more choice.
Preferred your review of the basic mini. - £22K more and other than tech- which a lot of makers are doing- it would have been nice to see what extra space you’re getting especially as there will be no 4 door electric Cooper. How much more space do the rear passengers have and is the boot larger also? I’ll have to watch someone else’s review for this info I guess.
Yeah, go and moan on somebody else's review! We get a short amount of time to drive two cars for the first time, and film two reviews in one day, which if you've ever done anything like this, you'll know is tough going. And as I said in the video, you're more than welcome to simply ask me a question and I'll answer it, which I would have happily done re: rear passenger space. Good luck finding your answers elsewhere ;)
I didn't have enough time to test this fully, but I think if you were giving it the beans on go kart mode, the range would be a lot more like 150 miles
I know what you mean. It also doesn’t quite do funky interior lighting in quite the same way that a lot of other electric cars do. Though I do enjoy the way the display changes style when you change driving modes.
A family car 5sec to 60? Who the hell cares about that??? Make it slower, make it cheaper. I hope that those fast cars get hammered by taxes and insurance!
The Boost button is needed to activate that time, so in a way - they have made it slower (unless you specifically choose to make it faster for 10 secs). I personally thought it was a bit faster than it needed to be, but I also think it’ll coax across petrolhead dads to the world of electric, which is ultimately good for the EV movement 🎉 Thanks for coming over from Electroheads btw ❤
Plenty of people want a car with oomph or why would anyone buy the sport variants of any vehicle? Just because it's not your cup of tea doesn't mean it's not desired.

Aww thanks! I'm glad too have helped. And thanks for subscribing, it means a lot. I hope you enjoy the Countryman as much as I did
Awesome review, fun and great presentation edit from the team.
Great, thorough review. Rich is clearly super knowledgeable, and has such a fun, easy presenting style too.
You didn’t bore me! That’s amazing! Congrats 🎉
Haha thank you 🙏
You are a natural talent! Great review too.
Thanks - that means a lot!
Well done Rich, your delivery is enjoyable to listen to! Have subscribed :)
Thanks Dom! Hope you're well my friend
Thanks for watching my first video on my own channel, folks! There will be a lot more to come, so please subscribe and drop a comment ⚡📢
This video is like the Studio Ghibli of car reviews. Magic stuff.

Fab review 🔥🔥
Thanks!
Is this EV Countryman 'Sport' available in the USA? I don't seem able to find any indication that it is. (Racing Seats etc)
You can adjust the HUD which is saved in your profile
Thanks - I thought as much, but just couldn't work it out against the clock on a tight schedule for shooting.
Is there a way to remove the huge number speedometer that is on the centre screen of the car? Also can you turn off the interior car camera ?
Does it still have a pseudo-transmission tunnel at the back?
Yay, Rich! Stellar review 😎
Thanks pal!
Hey Rich. Thanks for making this video. How would you compare the Countryman to the Tesla model y? Which one would you pick and why?

great review cant wait to buy it but the heads up display is crap on such an expensive car but everything else looks awesome

I’m enjoying the design evolution of this Mini… nice to see them break away from the classic!
Great review Rich. I now don't want a car unless it can play Austin Powers at all times.

Hello, when cooper e will be uploaded?
Hey - it should be uploaded here very soon, I’ll leave a reply here with a link once it’s uploaded. Thanks for watching 🙏
Awesome video Rich! What’s the max range on the mini in eco mode vs go kart mode?
I didn't have enough time to test this fully, but I think if you were giving it the beans on go kart mode, the range would be a lot more like 150 miles
i wish there were more interior color options on the top of the line... not only the red and black color.... pitty
I know what you mean. It also doesn’t quite do funky interior lighting in quite the same way that a lot of other electric cars do. Though I do enjoy the way the display changes style when you change driving modes.
must admit. Not a fan of the red. Awesome car though. Trying to convince the wife to get rid of our diesel countryman and move onto the electric car
A circular display is kind of comedy
So is rectangle 😂
I quite liked it to be honest, found it much easier to use than a lot of other displays I've used recently
Why did they not call the electric Mini the ‘Min-e’?!? 😂
I hope Mini see this comment and make it a reality
@@richreviews101 I hope Mini see this comment and send me a car!!!

Just choose Countryman E with FWD and 204hp, it's also excellent to drive
