Harry .....young dairy farmer of the year....Harry becoming a good help to you Richard. The farming industry needs the young generation coming on to take on from the older generation but they need to know there's a future for them. To be honest one day your probably going to need a more modern set up for milking your cow's but it cost's a lot of money and if the money can't be made it becomes a difficult decision to be made........either invest a lot of money or give up dairying. halve the reason i gave up milking was because i was milking in a very old setup........older than yours infact and also the environment agency wanted me to invest in slurry storage with us being next to a stream that was always going to be a ongoing concern and also my personal circumstances with no one to follow on with the farm the decision was made to give up milk production
The boy comes of age. Gold Medal effort 🏆 ✌️ Big dairy cows to a lad of Harry's size is quite a challenge. Well done young Sir . Cheers from New HampShire 🇺🇲
Congratulations guys on a wonderful mini series with Harry learning to milk. With his attitude he will go far in the farming industry. It is obvious that both you and Mrs. Funky Farmer are very proud of your two boys. Keep producing your regular output because us , your loyal followers , will keep watching.
I've got to say it's wonderful to see father and son working together and actually enjoying the job and each others company... Richard and Harry your both blessed 👍 keep at it, it's lovely to watch
Hi Richard, you should invest in an electric power washer for washing down. It makes the job so much quicker and easier. After the first flush on the wash cycle, catch the wash water in a barrel and use it through the power washer. That way you use the water twice and save on water consumption.
Fantastic video Richard. Reminds me of working with my dad on farm equipment on a big farm estate in Shropshire. He was a farm mechanic . So much fun 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Fantastic set of videos showing how the next generation of farmers pickup and learn skills that's probably gone on for centuries, and long may it continue. And now Harry its time to start moidering the ol man about investing in one of those 60 point rotary thingies, or maybe a nice herringbone as he mentioned👍.
Good morning Richard and Harry, I bet you don’t get many lads of Harry’s age getting up at this time of morning well done Harry👍 and putting in good time working all the very best to you Harry. You both take care of yourself and stay safe.🐄🐄⭐️👍🌲🌲.
Great videos. Reminds me of when I started helping my dad with the milking back in the early seventies. Cows were tied up in shippons then. But I still started out with the older quiet girls in the herd.
It must be very satisfying seeing the next generation starting into the operation. Wonderful to see and I wish you all the best going forward. E.U. is attacking the U.K. economy, so I imagine it's a tough slog right now.
Its so nice to see u two working! Reminds me of me and my father for 25 years with all the same work. But sadly we needed to give up our farm. Politics destroy our smaler farmers. Keep up the good work
when i was harry age used to help milk with my dad 530 start never forget the morning smell in winter when the cows were in the shippen all night but made up for it bye a cook breakfast when milking was finished
Great video Harry is a very capable young lad who learns very quickly. Would you ever consider replacing the abreast parlour with a herringbone if you could you get the relevant grants.
Would you ever look into getting a volume washer for cleaning down the parlour only thing you would have to buy is the hose and the pump because you could use and old 1000 litre ibc that you have
Loved this took me back to me as an 8 year old Harry saying dont milk 189 she kicks reminded me of when i milked cows when i was a boy i was the opposite the farm i helped on had a heifer that kicked like hell i was the only one who could milk her so they kept her back until i got home from school for me to milk her the herdsman that taught me originally taught me how to handle them as well so when he left even though young i was equipped with the knowledge of how to deal with difficult animals
Hazza Cornock is there no end to his talents, farm manager (purchases), relief milking dude, trapeze artist specialising balancing on round bales, virtual tractor driver, 1:32 farm owner, cameraman, TikTok channel owner and now moving into the philosophy of milking!
Love an abreast parlour we milk 150 through are 12/12 abreast can rattle 70 cows an hour with the wind behind us!! Herringbone isn’t for everyone! Although you do keep you shoulders clean!!!🐄🐄🤔😂
Hi Richard your parlour is very similar to one i grew up with ours was a 6 abrest fullwood but we had a different wash system we just put the washers on the units and thhat was over 25 years ago ,think you could do to modernise your parlour, thats where your moneys made but if it works for you mate
How long does it take to fully milk 1 cow from when the pump goes on to when it comes off? Also how long does the whole process of milking take at your farm?
Hi question when did you get the last compressor on the milking machine.. had mine about 10 years ago cost me over £700 he said it was the last one. What about the carbon veins can you still get them ?
Seems to be a bit labour intensive to me with all the way the machine is washed etc, but if it works for you guys. How long would it normally take to milk how many cows? I once "helped" milk 400 cows! 😢.
2:19 of the video why is harry using a brash to scrap of the mud of the step if that was me I would change to hand scraper to scrap of the mud of the step and I will use a brush to brush to clean up the parlour if you use a brush make sure you to wash it first before you use it for cleaning up the parlour
Richard, are you hot washing every day? In our parlour, we changed to a cold wash system and hot washed just once a month. Good saving in energy costs.

Bring back very happy memories of my old man teaching me to milk cows at his age I do anything sometimes to go back to those days
Harry has a lot of confidence. That's to you. 😊
The boy comes of age.
Gold Medal effort 🏆 ✌️
Big dairy cows to a lad of Harry's size is quite a challenge. Well done young Sir .

Well done Harry as thats a very labour intensive setup! There can't be many dairy farmers with a dairy of that age!

Good job Harry.
Bad job 189.
did you ever consider changing the parlour or always wanted to keep it that way?
Do the fresh calvers come in at the end?
How long before we see Hazzer taking over the milking full time?
Harry, do you think you’ll take over the farm eventually?
Does Harry have the same maths teacher as farmer P ?😂
haha there's 20 there for sure 😂
From bringing the cows in to completed cleanup how long does it take? Great vlogs!

Hope Harry is getting the hourly rate for a person his age 😊 You need to teach Harry how to take his gloves off 😂
Does your older son have no interest in farming?
😁xx
