Example if you call out to Jimmy when your in a room, wait till Jimmy starts to open the door thats when you want to hide in the closet, once you do that Jimmy will now go in the bathroom and hide. Thats when you want to run out the room and use the dead lock key. It will not trap him forever but it gives you time to look around. If your going on the steps and you happen to see Jimmy peak through the door/ window do NOT go through the door. Jimmy will take some time before spawning on the floors, he will spawn quicker on floor 3 than floor 1. Every time you complete the story more he will spawn faster. When you reach about 70% of the story, he will spawn instant on 1 - 3! So, if your searching for a room it is a good idea to go back to the elevator, then go down to ground floor. Then go back to the floor you are tryna find the room. If you do that, the timer for Jimmy to spawn will reset. Then you have extra time to look. (This is useless if you are at 70%, because he will spawn instant). You can see if he has spawned be calling for him in a room. If it takes too long for him to appear, that means he hasn’t spawned yet. Audio is also an important part of the game, listen carefully for footsteps when you look through the spyglass in the guest rooms. (EVERYONE LIKE SO HE SEES THIS!!!)

In a dark room and you know Jimmy is looking for you, you can hide in the bathroom and run out as he walks further into the room and lock him inside of the room. In a lit up room, you have to have Jimmy see you hide in the wardrobe and that will prompt him to hide in the bathroom which gives you a chance to also run out of the room and lock him in there. You can also look through the key hole in doors so you can see if he is in certain rooms hiding to get you. If Jimmy looks at the peephole, wardrobes, and bathrooms for a long amount of time, it’s a high possibility that he knows you’re in there and will back off to get you secretly. EDIT: After looking at some other gameplays, the second character and Amy are somewhat connected- you can ask the second character about things you’ve found out about Amy which will also let you progress. When you ask questions and ask the right one, you will also hear a sparkling kind of noise that indicates you’re on the right path as well. And with the locked doors, Jimmy can STILL get inside, so you still have to hide when he turns the doorknobs.

Or what it looks like is it turns red if he’s on the same floor as you Apparently there’s a certain time before jimmy spawns on your floor giving you some saving grace. But it gets shorter the more you progress The stairwell and lobby are safe zones.(I think) The items are randomized. The comment said you can actually lock jimmy in rooms so I guess that’s helpful. Okay, so I'm sure there are some people who have already left you tips, but here are some in case they haven't: 1. It says this in the tutorial, but the basement (LG), ground floor (G), and stairwell are safe zones, where Jimmy won't attack you (though if you see him in the doorway to the stairwell don't go through the door), so the only thing that can scare you there are the ghosts, which seem to be harmless. 2. There will be multiple ghosts, so before you get confused, the mirror will show you the spirit, and then the item/floor/room associated with that spirit, before it will move onto another spirit and another object associated with *that* spirit. 3. Jimmy can't attack you if you are in the elevator, so if you see him on the other end of elevator entry way, move to the elevator and open it as fast as you can. He'll be creeping towards the elevator, but by the time he's in front of the elevator the door will close. 4. I don't know how often this happens, but Jimmy can attack you as you are getting out of the elevator, so you may want to move to another floor and wait for him to spawn there before going to the floor where Jimmy was before. 5. The menu button at the bottom right also serves as a warning sign. If it turns red, that means that Jimmy saw you and is now after you OR you are moving towards him without knowing it, so either get off the floor as fast you can or get into a room as fast as you can and hide. I've heard other comments saying that the menu can also turn yellow, meaning he's behind you, but I've only ever seen it turn red, so I don't know if that is true or not. 6. For some reason, Jimmy won't attack you in the hallway if you are using the Spirit Box, so if there is ever a spirit in the hallway that you need to talk to, you don't have to worry about Jimmy if you are fast enough to turn it on and off and get to a room. 7. You can lock Jimmy in a room. I'm sure someone else will explain how to do it, but I want you to know that it really isn't that big of a deal to do unless you need to get to a specific room that he seems to be guarding, since he doesn't stay in the room for too long. 8. He won't be waiting in any of the rooms before you enter it. He will only stalk the hallways and the bathroom if you are hiding in the wardrobe. (Though, he could be in the store room? I haven't seen it happen but you can peak in the store room to see if he is in there)

To give you some tips and tricks literally nobody asked for : When hiding in a lit up room, never hide in the bathroom, he will automatically know you are there. Go in the wardrobe instead. In dark rooms you can hide in the bathroom tho. Also, when you are in danger, your menu icon will become red until he leaves, sometimes he will wait for you, so you must show patience. Furthermore, it is said that if he stares really intensively into the wardrobe on his way back to the door, he knows you are in there, which only increases the chances of him hiding in the bathroom. The deadlock keys do not stop Jimmy from coming into your room, it will only make it harder for him. The use of deadlock keys is to trap him in rooms, to do that you must do a very precise process : Make him come to your room, go to the wardrobe, WAIT FOR HIM to open the door and while he is opening it, hide in the wardrobe, Jimmy will then hide in the bathroom to catch you when you come out the closet, so then you can run out of the room quickly and lock him in giving you about 1-2 minutes to move freely. You can make Jimmy come to you by calling him, but it's a risky play. This whole process is basically Russian roulette, owing to the fact you have a 50/50 chance of making it out of the room in time. If you don't move swiftly enough, he will catch you on your way out. Try to not turn around too much. Since he ambushes you, the less movements you make to get to a destination the better it is. Also, the longer you stay on the same floor, the more danger you are in as it gives him better opportunity to spawn. Sometimes even as little as changing floors for a few seconds can kind of reset his countdown, which means you are safe. You always need to check shadows on the floor since Jimmy likes to hide around the corner or even in the shadow itself. It should get larger, if he's there, so that acts as a good indicator of his presence. He cannot spawn in the elevator though, so worry not about him miraculously appearing in there. It is also a good idea to check as many rooms as possible to obtain items which can make it significantly easier for you to connect things, put two and two together and then communicate with spirits. Jimmy, of course, likes to steal your items once he hits you, so it is necessary to recollect them afterwards. I hope this helps. (A few of the sentences are copied from a different comment, because I wanted to assemble as many tips as possible.)

Some tips I got from Ryan’s channel:
When the little menu button is red, Jimmy’s in front of u. If it’s yellow, he’s behind you. Or what it looks like is it turns red if he’s on the same floor as you
Apparently there’s a certain time before jimmy spawns on your floor giving you some saving grace. But it gets shorter the more you progress
The stairwell and lobby are safe zones.(I think)
The items are randomized.

The ground/the lower ground (basement) is safe. Jimmy doesn't go there
You can lock Jimmy in the rooms
*Call him and let him see you go into the room.
*At last second, when the door open hide in the closet
*He'll will be hiding in the bathroom (keep moving)
Then lock him in.
When using the mirror you will see which person on a certain floor but not for Jimmy
When asking the ghost question there a limit
Meaning if you a pairing the question and keep getting them wrong the ghost box will go static and you have to ask them later

Okay, so I'm sure there are some people who have already left you tips, but here are some in case they haven't:
1. It says this in the tutorial, but the basement (LG), ground floor (G), and stairwell are safe zones, where Jimmy won't attack you (though if you see him in the doorway to the stairwell don't go through the door), so the only thing that can scare you there are the ghosts, which seem to be harmless.
2. There will be multiple ghosts, so before you get confused, the mirror will show you the spirit, and then the item/floor/room associated with that spirit, before it will move onto another spirit and another object associated with *that* spirit.
3. Jimmy can't attack you if you are in the elevator, so if you see him on the other end of elevator entry way, move to the elevator and open it as fast as you can. He'll be creeping towards the elevator, but by the time he's in front of the elevator the door will close.
4. I don't know how often this happens, but Jimmy can attack you as you are getting out of the elevator, so you may want to move to another floor and wait for him to spawn there before going to the floor where Jimmy was before.
5. The menu button at the bottom right also serves as a warning sign. If it turns red, that means that Jimmy saw you and is now after you OR you are moving towards him without knowing it, so either get off the floor as fast you can or get into a room as fast as you can and hide. I've heard other comments saying that the menu can also turn yellow, meaning he's behind you, but I've only ever seen it turn red, so I don't know if that is true or not.
6. For some reason, Jimmy won't attack you in the hallway if you are using the Spirit Box, so if there is ever a spirit in the hallway that you need to talk to, you don't have to worry about Jimmy if you are fast enough to turn it on and off and get to a room.
7. You can lock Jimmy in a room. I'm sure someone else will explain how to do it, but I want you to know that it really isn't that big of a deal to do unless you need to get to a specific room that he seems to be guarding, since he doesn't stay in the room for too long.
8. He won't be waiting in any of the rooms before you enter it. He will only stalk the hallways and the bathroom if you are hiding in the wardrobe. (Though, he could be in the store room? I haven't seen it happen but you can peak in the store room to see if he is in there)

I love how realistic the animation is in this game, it almost feels like I'm watching a live-action horror movie.

To give you some tips and tricks literally nobody asked for : When hiding in a lit up room, never hide in the bathroom, he will automatically know you are there. Go in the wardrobe instead. In dark rooms you can hide in the bathroom tho.
Also, when you are in danger, your menu icon will become red until he leaves, sometimes he will wait for you, so you must show patience. Furthermore, it is said that if he stares really intensively into the wardrobe on his way back to the door, he knows you are in there, which only increases the chances of him hiding in the bathroom.
The deadlock keys do not stop Jimmy from coming into your room, it will only make it harder for him. The use of deadlock keys is to trap him in rooms, to do that you must do a very precise process : Make him come to your room, go to the wardrobe, WAIT FOR HIM to open the door and while he is opening it, hide in the wardrobe, Jimmy will then hide in the bathroom to catch you when you come out the closet, so then you can run out of the room quickly and lock him in giving you about 1-2 minutes to move freely. You can make Jimmy come to you by calling him, but it's a risky play. This whole process is basically Russian roulette, owing to the fact you have a 50/50 chance of making it out of the room in time. If you don't move swiftly enough, he will catch you on your way out.
Try to not turn around too much. Since he ambushes you, the less movements you make to get to a destination the better it is.
Also, the longer you stay on the same floor, the more danger you are in as it gives him better opportunity to spawn. Sometimes even as little as changing floors for a few seconds can kind of reset his countdown, which means you are safe. You always need to check shadows on the floor since Jimmy likes to hide around the corner or even in the shadow itself. It should get larger, if he's there, so that acts as a good indicator of his presence. He cannot spawn in the elevator though, so worry not about him miraculously appearing in there. It is also a good idea to check as many rooms as possible to obtain items which can make it significantly easier for you to connect things, put two and two together and then communicate with spirits. Jimmy, of course, likes to steal your items once he hits you, so it is necessary to recollect them afterwards. I hope this helps. (A few of the sentences are copied from a different comment, because I wanted to assemble as many tips as possible.)

Although, sometimes when you turn around in the stair case you will see him peek through the door then almost run off. Do NOT go back out that way because HE WILL GET YOU. You can also use the scrying mirror to use to see what happened to the ghosts and find them and help with their stories. Hope this helps!!!

Here's a tip cory: the call out to Jimmy distracts him and makes him come to you. U can use it for when hes about to open the room u are in u can hide inside of the little closet down the room. Wait till he sees u go into the closet. He will not try to open it but he will peek, after he peeks he will check the bathroom that's your chance to leave the room while hes checking so you can lock him in. This byes u time for u to look around. also if u look on the bottom right corner of your screen u will see 3 little long lines. If the lines turn red that means he is close in front of u. If its yellow that means hes close up behind u. That will give u a better chance to outrun him and hide. He also cant attack u on lower ground and ground floor nor can he attack you on the stairs
