- Plastic skirting board, which is often UPVC, can be difficult to cut. In this video I show how I cut UPVC skirting board for a modern bathroom. UPVC skirting board chips easily, so it is essential to use the correct blade and also use a sacrificial piece of wood to prevent damage to the workpiece. I have used the Evolution R255SMS to cut the skirting- • evolution R255 SMS | 1...
The blade used in the video is a Saxton blade with 100 teeth, this requires the use of a reduction ring- www.ebay.co.uk...

When making videos where I cannot speak as I go along, like the one above- it takes me ages to edit the video. I have to get the footage, piece it together into some kind of video that hopefully explains everything, write a script, narrate the script, then add the narration to the video footage. This creates a tremendous amount of work. Unfortunately, it’s the only way I can make such videos when there is a lot of background noise. Unfortunately, I probably have about 30 more videos to make in this manner!
I hope everyone has a great Sunday 😉
I bet Steven Spielberg dosnt have all these issues 🤣🤣
Your work is really appreciated Chez. Thanks.
That skirting wouldn’t last 5m with a combination of my wife and Henry the hoover going at it 😱 😂
Have a good Sunday ! Thanks for the video
Thanks, you too 👍
Do you think filling with polyurethane foam would help?
🤘😎🤘
👍
I have used this skirting at my house, you can also get it with a gasket at the bottom to route cables round the room, also you can get corner pieces so you don't need to cut a mitre
Thanks for the info 👍
I thought you had left UA-cam. Glad to see you back
I’m just struggling for time at the moment (even though I no longer work on site)!
Thanks for the comment 👍
Patience, attention to detail and know-how, along with using the best tools, makes for a superbly finished piece that fits seamlessly and looks like it was made that way. Great video, thank you, Chez.
Thank you very much!
I try cutting this type of skirting board
before without a sacrificial piece of wood
not only does it damage the skirting board
you get a face full of bits of plastic
great video again
Yeah, it makes a real mess without the sacrificial piece of timber. I think one reason is that it flexes quite badly when its being cut, this leads to tiny bounces in the material, which makes a right mess of the workpiece 👍
Thanks for your time and effort fella, stay lucky, stay safe! 👍
Thanks, you too!

@@dawarnewsplusinf8688 Thanks for the clarification 👍
Never new about this product thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Great video and useful tips. Always appreciate the sound of noisy tools brought down to a minimum, with a voice over. I hadn't seen UPVC skirting before, I can see it has its uses.
Great to hear! 👍
Another product I did not even know was on the market... Great tips as I have previously cut PCV sills for UVPVC windows and learned the hard way that it's easy to break as you showed.
Thanks Paul
This is really useful in bathrooms, as it’s moisture resistant and does not need painting. I think the customer struggled finding somewhere that could deliver the 4 metre length though!
@@ultimatehandyman I can see the issue with obtaining really long lengths, but with a clean cut a squarely glued, it may be acceptable in shorter lengths :) Thanks for the video :)
@@paulhammond7489 Yeah, it would have been easy to cut and join it, and it would have been almost invisible- but she wanted it in one complete length!
Thanks for the comments 👍

Another great informative video though I don't know why anyone would use this stuff instead of wood or MDF.
It can get wet in bathrooms without get ruined
The old sacrificial piece of timber is a martyr. Good job with that plastic skirting.
Absolutely
Thanks for the comment 👍

Thanks for the comment, Neil 👍
whole house will be plastic soon.
Another excellent video. Would you use upvc skirting anywhere else in a house, or are the benefits of using it only worth the extra effort in bathroom s?
Thanks Nic 👍
It’s up to personal choice really, it is great in bathrooms and removes the need to paint. Originally the customer on this job was going to make a tiled skirt, but then decided on UPVC.
It looks great and is very easy to fit, but I do not know how durable it is, such as knocks when vacuuming etc.
@@ultimatehandyman thanks for taking the time to answer my question 👍🏻
