  • Fishing off Marino Rocks in the kayak is super productive around this time of year! Plenty of schooled up snook and some ripper squid in shallow. Limit your catch, not catch your limit.

    Awesome vid man! That fish around the 12 minute mark that had a bit of damage, that always happens to snook. When they roll, they tend to wrap themselves up in the leader, which causes rubbing and damages the scales! They can get pretty dinged up sometimes

    I have found slow winding 3inch paddle tails that are a natural green colour works the best. Got me my biggest snook at 95cm

      They taste bloody good mate, just filet em and fry em in a pan w some olive oil and seasoning, remember fish wants to swim so dont be to shy w oil, put around one cm in the pan. I think bc they have very white firm meat they are excellent eating fish

      maybe everyone taste buds are different, but i cooked whiting and snook fresh, hands down the snook was so much nicer to eat. and i like whiting. i can never get more than 2 fishing, id like just to catch snook and squid and id be happy, outer harbor i cant get many. disabled restricts my time on the water. i love snook and eating them. i just cant get a feed. or find many. so i am happy catching snook. eating snook. i just cant find any often.

    Great videos mate. I’m just learning when it comes to fishing. Do you use an anchor for your yak? And how do you kill most of your fish?

    • @Alexsfishin
      @Alexsfishin  5 років тому +1

      Thanks Mick! I use an anchor only if I am burleying up and bait fishing or if there is a school of fish in front of me, in this case, snook. The easiest way I find to kill the fish is to bleed them by snapping their necks. May sound horrific but it's a quick way to put them out.

    Great video, Marino not far from me, cant wait to get my yak and get out down here.
    I noticed you got bitten off a few times by the snook with 10lb line, would you use 10lb braid on the reel with 15 or 20lb leader to avoid being bitten off? And would this setup 10lb braid woth heavier leader, also be suitable for the other types of fish out of this area tommies, salmon trout etc? Cheers mate

    Hey mate, i just subscribed and loving your videos. I live south of Adelaide and learning a lot from you, cheers bro. Just a few questions if you dont mind...
    What rod and reel are you using in this vid for the snook?
    What time of the year is this? Can this be done all year round (weather permitting for the kayak though obviously)
    What tide do you find best for this fishing?
    Where abouts do you launch your yak for fishing Marino?
    When you ancho do you have a sliding anchor to allow for waves or anything like that in your yak or you just through it out and tie it off?
    Cheers bro tight lines. 🤙
