- A tiny, underwater sea creature has been nibbling the feet of swimmers in Mission Bay.
San Diegan Tara Sauvage said she was walking along De Anza Cove when she decided to put her feet in the water to cool off. She didn't expect what came next.
"It was painful! I was like uh! I jumped out of the water and this was so shocking. I had blood all over my foot and in between my toes," said Sauvage.
She said in a matter of seconds something bit her ankles and feet.

I know them. They are the angry sea monkeys I flushed down the toilet when our family had to move to another city. I understand their need for revenge. I am so sorry.
Every horror story has an origin.
Lady was like, I was bleeding out. … Guy was like there totally harmless I’ve been bit thousands of times lol
SAND FLEAS......Yup they exist
Sand fleas don't bite. They even showed you what they are in this 2 minute video.
@@KB-nt7eg lol exactly, and sand fleas are much larger I believe
@@hippoge7987 sand crabs are larger, these are sand fleas. They aren't proper scientific names, just simple white man names.
Apparently someone didn't watch the video
Who the hell knows, probably something to start a new pandemic I'm sure
Dip a hotdog on a string in to the water and it will be covered in no time with these things.
I once saw a video where a scientist put a dead chicken in a cage and left it in a shallow area overnight. By morning there wasn't very much left because of this type of critter.
Really interesting. I wish I could remember where I watched it. Probably somewhere here on UA-cam.
Very cool comment. I hope the video pops up in my recommendations.
In Chesapeake bay in Maryland you might get some blue crabs in the cage.
@@charleshoang7687 Yum. 😋
I used to get bit by those in Mission Bay when I was a kid
The movie, The Bay, pretends to be a found footage PSA project raising awareness of deadly isopods, a horror movie.
Mission bay is man made so it doesn't have the benefit of the natural cleansing action other bays have. Some say it is a very polluted body of water although we never had any health problems or critters biting us there.
It might be man made but it used to be a swamp/marsh like all the little lagoons on the I-5 corridor.
Those critters aren't man made genius.
@@bobwoods1302 Reading comprehension? No one said they were man made.
Sometimes my wife is a dead fish, just sayin'

Sushi.. that's what my ex-wife called me. Cold fish.

"you're an adult?" jesus, you made it sound like blood was dripping from your feet......... then you showed the lil fella that did the damage.😂😂😂
Dude, they actually can get your skin bloddy, there is a video of a dude putting his arm for 60 seconds and his arm got bloddy
I'm in Florida and we don't get this.
When I had a boat at Dana Marine, I occasionally put on diving equipment to go under the boat and clean the bottom. Anywhere my skin was exposed i got bites. That was 30 years ago.
Very little water circulation n that part of the bay. Perhaps the level of dead stuff required adding something to consume it? I wouldn’t swim in that part of the bay!
Nah lol
I’m from the Caribbean and I was at a few beaches and at neck height water with huge waves I got bitten but thankfully it was after like 1 hour of being in the water 😂
Even this one time when I was younger a jellyfish stung me and when I got up I saw one of those little pest biting me,
Tara got pretty toes....juss sayin, don't judge me!
It’s time to judge you 🤤
A water flea, or Lindsay Graham
Giant isopods don’t bite but the little ones do
I got attacked on balboa island in like 88. Lived off crown point in 09 nothing.
I took a marine biology class at Grossmont College and I've never looked at the ocean in the same way. When you get out of the ocean and feel all crusty it isn't just because of the salt. Ocean water is filled with small organisms and microorganisms that are alive as well as dead and also includes eggs, feces and so on. I still go into the ocean but I try not to think about it.
Try the Great Lakes! Fresh water. Yeah, Michigan.
That is the sh!ttiest beach.... why would you swim there much less walk there???
