Thirty years ago the Berlin Wall came down, helping end the decades-long Cold War between the West and the Soviet Union. Built by the Communist-controlled East in August 1961, the Berlin Wall was the physical barrier separating the two sides of Germany. We look at why the Wall was built in the first place, and how the city of Berlin has changed since it came down in 1989.

The soft romantic music accompanying this clip says it all. Great experiment, Corbyn's Disneyland, it is missed by many "Ossies" and is romantised by many "Wessies"; truth be told many in Germany and the UK would fight current democracy to be back then, not least Corbyn's communist adviser Shameus Milne.
