This is an impressive piece of work from Cristal Palace youth academy. Me as a grassroots coach,I’m enjoying each moment of those episodes. One day,I hope to be there,learn from them and exchange experiences. I’m driven by seeing how their academy is well organized,with all those coaches and experts who is working hard on daily bases,focusing on all small details to help out their players.
I LOVE the support and consistent involvement of the parents, lovely sight man.

The important thing is to never give up. Going into high school I had one of the weakest kicks around, I could hardly play a ball 20 to 30 yd. I was a bench former my whole time in high school didn't make JV or varsity my junior year, and rode the bench my whole senior year. A year and a half later I have the strongest kick of anyone I know, I was training with a professional coach, and I was offered a professional contract in another country. You would be surprised at how much things can change and how quickly.

@@Cool-yw3ev it can also be a good thing because you have to learn to rely strictly on skill because your speed is gone until you grow into your new height. Once that speed comes back you will be a beast so do not let it discourage you or give up, not saying this to you so much but to anyone who reads this that is having the growth spurt awkward body problem. Stick with it, once you get your speed and quick feet back everything will change. I didn’t stick with it because of outside distractions, which was a huge mistake on my part.

Young players need to focus 100% on improving their play and along with their overbearing parents not get distracted with the dream of getting paid before they have made it!

@@Grimmes12Exactly. People are just irritated with her because she’s a white woman and fits a stereotype. People watched a whole movie about the Williams’ sisters’ father doing far more than this. She has a talented son and wants the best for him. She was never pushy on the entire documentary. She simply answered the questions the interviewer asked of her about their process.
I played select baseball since i was 9, but this seems like a little overkill for kids. I wonder how many of them burn out because the game isn't fun for them anymore. I can understand grinding this hard once you're a teen, but this seems like it's more for the parents, than the kids.
What you see here is just the tip of the ice berg of academy football. It's genuinely ruthless. Most players being released and having nothing to fall back on (no education, nothing), lack of motivation, some even fall into depression.
Football ⚽️ is a fun sport.

see thats the issue. kids now a day wants $$$ and fam and women. they aren't playing for the love of the game . that mindset make a loser player and international team lose and club player.
Exactly. I love hearing the kid’s who dream of playing for England someday, but when they mention Lamborghini’s you just know they’re gonna fall short at some point. Parents are no better for supporting those materialistic dreams.
The thing is, even in my country kids see sports (and entertainment) as a way to get rich quick and having easy life without having high level of academic qualifications. Even today, those that play everyman's sport (like football) mostly come from poor and uneducated background, often occupy the last places in the academic exams in schools. Those that play niche sports on the other hand mostly came from a more educated background and often perform well in exams.
Not surprising that the former group tend to struggle in adult life and depending heavily on the sports to make the ends meet. The latter group have higher dropout rate in sports, yet they are better off in their adult life because academic qualifications means more life options for them.
Personally this is the very reason why I hate and totally oppose professionalism of sports; the moment the sports got profesionalised it open the floodgates of people who play because of the money and not for the love of the sport.

Right. I am from the States most of my coaches have been English. They do kill creativity micro managing know it all. In the US we have one more layer every Us national who has touched a ball here thinks they invented the game no matter how much they suck, while worshipping the European and South American style.

@@JeromeMwaendanawa if you’re able to join an academy in your country that qualifies for international tournaments. If you perform well in those tournaments there’s a good chance of being scouted by European teams.
