I never realized before, but Darcy's way of dealing with Bing and Jane is just like his way of dealing with George and Gigi--even influenced by it. Gigi was sweet, young, naive, generous, open-hearted. All the same things are true of Bing. Darcy saw how badly hurt his sister was by a money-grubbing love-interest, and when he saw his friend in what seemed the same situation, he did the same thing. He's abrupt and harsh only to protect people. Still, it was a fault in judgement for him to see Jane as another kind of Wickham.
Chloe' R Great point! I wish they had brought this up so Lizzie didn't hate on Darcy for so long.
Emily T. It's in Lizzie's personal written diary.
Although I'm going to add that this video gets into a lot more detail about what happened between Gigi and George than Darcy's letter did.
Chloe' R ii
Yes, well said. It is part of the "Prejudice" in "Pride and Prejudice". Darcy is prejudiced to see in Jane what he already experienced in George.
I love how in this version it's Gigi, a woman, taking her story into her own hands. She's the one that makes the choice to share, not letting the men keep it a secret.
gigi saying "no one's ever needed me before" ruined me. ruineddd meee. think about it, lydia in one way or the other wants to be wanted she wants validation and for someone to want her. he's taking advantage of lydia the same way he did with gigi. if that's not foreshadowing i don't know what is.
Jackie Perez thank you, I was looking for a comment about this
A friend of mine was recently heartbroken because of someone. When they said they should have paid attention to the red flags, I responded by saying that they needed to be loved in a certain way, and he was there to do that. I told them not to blame their self.
The whole story is even WORSE if you've read "The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet" and read all of Darcy's letter.
SPOILERS BELOW
Basically, Gigi STILL doesn't know the entire story - not only was George dating her for her money, he emailed Darcy saying he was in town, and added a photo that "accidentally" had Gigi in the background, that just so HAPPENED to be taken at her apartment. He made SURE Darcy knew they were dating, because he knew Darcy would rush over to save his sister from that relationship, and that he'd give him any amount he needed to get rid of him.
TL;DR: Wickham? More like DICKHAM.
I read it two years ago and just finished rereading it. Great book
So, basically, Wickham's a feckin' sociopath.
As Darcy said, it was only a little less than a ransom note. God, Wickham's even less than a douche, he's a horrifying, sociopathic dick out to break people for the sake of revenge or just 'cause he can.
Kitty Grimm When Lizzie calls Darcy a "sociopath" when she was still at Collins&Collins I think we all knew that judgment was wrong and we would soon find out that that title belongs to Wickham
I think it's far worse than calling him a dick. He uses people.
I like how Gigi has to consciously move away from blaming herself "And I let him..." to "He moved in with me..."
(And by I like I mean it physically pains me)
YES 😭
UGH yes I know. It breaks my heart so much.
it really helps, though. I went through some ugly shit as well and learned to rephrase it in my head in order to not feel any blame or shame, because one must not feel any... and it's effective. It really touched me when she did it.
That just reminded me how Lydia says later that she "let him" film them having sex.
"Keeping someone ignorant isn't protecting them. It can actually endanger them, you know?"
The foreshadowing...these writers and their brilliant, little literary twists.
I just love that Lizzie doesn't understand that until later on
I thought that too. Brilliance.
wait is that paraphrasing something from the book?
Can someone tell me what foreshadowing is? Yes, Miss Granger?
An ode to Caroline.
The actors and the writing are so brilliant that I must say that this is really at BBC's Sherlock level in terms of modern adaptations. This shit is so legit, it's better than most of the things on the telly nowadays.
Yeah true.
In terms of just P&P ,for me , this is the BEST adaptation
but yest in general this is amazing
Nina Dionisio Omg, I literally just paraphrased those exact words to my older brother a few hours ago.
N D Yes, very much so. It's salient proof of shows being excellent despite limited format, cinched resources and no fan base (aside from the books) to begin with. Excellent writing, timing, and casting.
Um excuse this is totally better than Sherlock :)
Leigh Malcolmson Yeah Sherlock starts out good but turns to messy garbage soup. 🙁
Is anyone else noticing how vibrant Lizzie is looking? Like at home she's always stressed about something or other, at Collins&Collins she was always on edge but after three weeks at Pemberley she's finding out where she belongs (most likely an internal thing than external). It's 2015 and I still can't believe I'm just finding out about this series.
It's 2019 and I just found out :)
Leire Me too!
It's almost 2020 and i can't believe I'm finding out about this now
Well, I'm finding out in 2020.
Beat that!
May 2020 folks
The way Lizzie looks at Gigi in this video is so heartwarming/breaking. She already sees Gigi as another sister and you can see that she wants to take care of her
It's also heartbreaking that she wants to take care of Gigi in a way that she - even if she wants to - doesn't with Lydia.
Agreed. I think she wants to take care of Lydia, as demonstrated and stated in many previous episodes, she just doesn't know how. And of course, her pride gets in the way.
@@sanilam.8008 Yeaaaah, notice how Gigi is always friendly and respectful towards Lizzie, and sincere about her feelings and needs?
If you have no problem taking care of someone who bullies and belittles you all the time then by all means do it, but don't force it upon others
DO YOU SEE THE LOOK GIGI GIVES THE CAMERA AT THE END? LIKE, "NO, HE WONT KILL YOU. HE LOOOOOVES YOU."
Watching this even 2 years later still hurts me to the soul. The thing that most got me in Gigi's whole reveal is George's use of "peach," because that's exactly what he calls Lydia. What I wouldn't give to strangle him.
+Elena Hein he calls Lizzie that too. he's real gross
Watch "John Tucker Must Die" it explains this pretty well. Basically, the guy has girls come into and out of his life so often (and sometimes in plurality) that remembering their names takes actual conscious effort that is noticeable, and if he doesn't do that conscious effort the wrong name could easily slip out, so he takes to using pet names, or in this like "Sweetie" "Babe" and, as has been noted, "Peach". I am at least honest with things like this and say "Yeah, I am shit with names, and committing yours to memory will take a while, so just understand that I am going to call you (insert nickname here) until I can remember your real one." Honesty is the policy that makes sure a sane girl is not coming after your nuts in the future.
I think it would be awesome having a spin-off episode where we see Gigi and Lydia together.
Is there anyway we could do a Kickstarter in reverse? We, the hundreds of thousands of fans, raise money and then "make" Hank put the band back together for a spin-off. ;)
The actress playing Gigi has the absolute CUTEST nose I've EVER seen! The rest of her is cute too but her adorable nose! :D I die.
That's what I was thinking!😊
GAHHH IM SO GLAD SOMEONE ELSE THINKS SO TOO!
she reminds me of ashley greene
My heart breaks so much for Gigi and Lydia. It's horrible and hard to watch because the acting is so brilliant, Dickham is so despicable, and also it's so REAL. Guys like Wickham exist and girls like Gigi and Lydia who are a little insecure and vulnerable and just want to be loved are easily taken in by guys with charm who know all the right things to say and all the right ways to manipulate them and ugh. It kills me.
"Keeping someone ignorant isn't protecting them, it endangers them" Yes please tell that to every DC vigilante EVER. Or just every male lead in an action show ever.
Yes.... please
Yes, CW, hear us out lol
Kalista Willington *gives Barry Allen, Joe West and Eddie Thawne that side eye action*
Jay Roomes I'M LOOKIN AT YOU OLIVER
So this is my fifth time watching lbd and I just realized that Gigi might watch Lydia's videos too and she wanted to share her story because she knew what George was doing to Lydia and this was her only way to try to stop or warn Lydia without making Lizzie or Darcy mad
The worst part is that this can actually happen to young women
*Mentally prepares self for the next video that will be filled with too much sexual tension*
That little look from Gigi at the end, though. After Lizzie says, "Your brother will kill me!" and Gigi says, "No, he won't," that little look says two things: "Will you, William?" and "Y'all viewers know why he won't." I love the character and the actress sooooo much, OMG!!!!
"Keeping someone ignorant isn't protecting them, it can actually be endangering them" -> LYDIA!!
Or Jane! About Bing! I've watched this a hundred zillion times and not noticed this...
Gigi and Lydia would get along so well. I hope they became friends after everything that happened to them. They could really help each other out.
Yeah, they've so much in Wickham...Sorry, I mean in commun!!!lol
Leanne Koch Gigi, Lydia and Maria would be sooooo great together.
Leanne Koch Another reason I'm excited for the book about Lydia. Hopefully they become friends!
Hannah Yokoyama There's gonna be a book about Lydia?!!?
Yes! It's gonna be released in the fall. I think it's about her life after the vlogs ended...
I love seeing the comments from people who are just seeing the story for the first time - series or books or anything. Figuring out that the Jane/Bing overreaction was directly tied to the Gigi/Whickham fiasco
"He really takes care of the people he cares about."
Two episodes from now... That one sentence made episode 84 (and pretty much everything darcy says after that) so much better.
Speaking of that phrase, where's Fitz been lately? I've missed him
'Keeping someone ignorant isn't protecting them. It can actually endanger them.' CAN YOU THINK OF SOMEONE ELSE WHO MIGHT NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DICKHAM AT THIS POINT IN TIME LIZZIE? CAN YOU?
At this point she doesn't know about the relationship of him and her sister because she doesn't watch her videos. Which is really sad otherwise they could've avoided a catastrophe :(
Could have avoided it if either Lizzie or Lydia watched the other's videos.
I think Lydia watched at least something, she knew the Darcy's part of the Darcy vs. Wickham story, but George sort of justified himself. At least that's what I got from Lydia's videos.
Lizzie never wanted Lydia to be ignorant, she was even telling Lydia to grow up and learn to get her shit together. 😒 Everyone's blaming Lizzie for warning Lydia of her reckless tendencies, but also expect her to be her sister's keeper and keep tabs on her all the time. Make up your minds.
"He looked at me, winked, and said, 'sorry peach.'"
And now I am dead.
If you haven't watched Lydia's videos, along with this... you're missing something
I'll follow your advice
Yes, you are missing half of this part of the story.
Wow, my jaw dropped! Up until now, the cleverest addition to the original P&P stuff they made, in my opinion! I could point out so many lines from this, but I'll just stick with that little "No, he won't" in the end... I just melted...
Gigi is so awesome I wanna give her a hug
I'm imagining Gigi calling Darcy Bill just to annoy him and he secretly loves it
I like to think that calling him Billy *really* riles him up. Gigi's done this just to tease him and later Lizzie picks up on it because she thinks he's cute when he's annoyed.
I just realized that part of the reason Darcy fell in love with Lizzie was probably because he was spectical of everyone that was friendly to him (or his equally rich friends), thinking they wanted to take advantage of him. But Lizzie wasn't friendly at all, so she when she did fall for him, he knew that it definitely wasn't because of his money
Iwould love to see that fight between Darcy and Wickham!!
The look of Gigi to Lizzie when she said, "He really takes care of the people he cares about." Like she's telling Lizzie she's included in that small circle. Hnnnggg!!!
"Keeping someone ignorant isn't protecting them. It can actually endanger them." Preach, Gigi.
I really dig how while in the book and in the BBC movie/miniseries adaptation, the scandals concerning Wickham with Gigi and then later Lydia seem mainly handled by others (namely Darcy and Lizzie), but in this webseries you see a lot more involvement, initiative and depth from the victims POV themselves. Gigi talking about how she had never felt needed before when she fell for Wickham's manipulation really impressed/touched me.
when george was first introduced, i thought peach was THE cutest pet name ever. now i am sobbing
Gigi: Best wingwoman ever.
"And I let him... and he moved in with me"
Her immediate response is still to blame herself. Arggggg the writing on this thing!
"Keeping someone ignorant, isn't protecting them. It can actually endanger them."
example: lydia
I think it would've been confusing having a George and a Georgiana in the same house
Hannah DeBruin 😂😂😂
Perhaps that's why they started calling her Gigi?
This is so late but let’s be real when she says “your viewers” she actually means Lydia
But she didn't know that Lydia was dating George until the tape comes out?
@@amiablehacker If Gigi was watching Lydia’s videos, then she would know.
@AND ANDREY ISN'T HERE she is warning lizzie. How could she know lizzie wasn't watching lydia's videos? Also she doesn't know lydia so telling her story to the world, for all to see, makes it credible.
I still want to know what Pemberley Digital has a whole floor of.
Mice
Sleeping pods
Swan Ice Sculptures
Costumes and breaks
Have u noticed that in those glimpses into Lydia's videos she seems so pale and just tired.
Negeen A As pointed out by one of the comments on her videos, you also notice how even her clothing isn't as bright and cheerful anymore -- a visual sign of how draining her r/s with Wickham is. Also, the necklace given to her by Jane and Lizzie makes more of an appearance, probably showing that she misses them and wants more of a connection to them. If you watch her whole slew of videos you can see her gradually deteriorating; it's really heart-breaking and difficult to watch tbh.
On the other hand, it might be because she (and Dickham) haven't been getting much sleep...
did anyone else notice the knowing look Gigi gave to the camera when she told Lizzie that Darcy wouldn't be mad at her, like she knew Darcy was going to watch the video and she was sending him a message that she knows he loves Lizzie and that she approves (not that it wasn't obvious by now)
I get the feeling Gigi knew (or at least suspected) that Wickham had a new "girlfriend," and she was trying to warn her (though I don't think Gigi knew it was Lydia, or she would've said something to Lizzie)
Gigi has great taste in clothing!!
Yeah but she only seem to like that colour lol
Hey, if you know wat looks good you go for it!!! *snap*
I love this video so so so much, specially Georgiana. I think she's the best!
"I think this might be a bad idea"
"It's okay, it's my decision"
Very reminiscent of the previous episode when Lizzie was telling Bing that at least it would be HIS bad idea!
and this is where lizzie falls in love with darcy.
I now officially hate peaches.
Peaches are delicious. Just don't let them be touched by slime.
"Oh my god, it's so awesome", is what I screamed at the end of the video. For the record I am an 18 year old male.
The acting! I love how much this series expands on Gigi's character. And this series showed me just how much of a monster and villain Wickham is. It is so powerful that his character has been lifted into this setting and it really emphasises that he is a villain and preys on young vulnerable girls in order to get money. He is so disturbing yet his character is so interesting to pick apart.
The moment Gigi quotes him, “Sorry Peach,” is the moment I visibly and emotionally cringed.
I just really really really want Gigi and Lydia to hang out much more after everything
that actually made me cry. i'm tearing up right now
"Keeping someone ignorant could actually endanger them."
WAKE UP, LIZZIE
It bothers me how comforting Lizzie is to Gigi and how she treats Lydia
I don't know why I feel it is so weird that Gigi calls her brother "William". I feel like its so formal, but maybe they were just going with how Pride and Prejudice was, but they're siblings. I'm surprised she hasn't given him a nickname or called him "will" :P
I have a friend whose husband is named Thomas, and she always calls him Thomas. I thought it was weird, too, but then I thought, everyone else calls him Tom, maybe using his full name is her version of an affectionate name for him. I'm not say that's what's going on with Gigi and Darcy, but maybe using his first name instead of calling him Darcy is her version of giving him a nickname.
***** It's only Fitzwilliam in P&P, in the LBD it's just William.
"He takes care of the people he cares about..." *stares at Lizzie*
Oh, Gigi. You so subtle.
This was so beautifully done. That moment when Gigi says that keeping someone ignorant isn't protecting them, it can endanger them and then Lizzie's response of looking down and saying, "I guess," is a great moment. It looks like it made her think twice about what happened between her and Lydia.
Also, just going to point out that Lizzie and Darcy look quite happy in the preview!
At the end there, I was just waiting for Gigi to be like "Because he LUUUUVS you, he wants to hooooold you, he wants to kiiiisssss you!"
"I was trying to make the swim team"
Hey remember that re-enacted scene where Ms whatsername asked Darcy about Gigi's swim lessons and he said she wasn't doing that anymore?
I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. The acting and writing in this is amazing. Truly a timeless story.
I mean this is one of the best videos of the series. How doesn't it have like a hundred thousand more viewers? Is it broken or what? Because honestly, it's one of my most watched videos.Gigi is perfect, and both the story and the interpretation are breathtaking.
Gigi and Lydia's relationship parallels are huge wow
"keeping someone indifferent is not the same as protecting him it can endanger them" ohhhhhhh shit Lizzie should have told Lydia.
I love this sympathy from Lizzie and the moment in the diaries where she goes to warn Darcy what Georgiana said. Their protective nature of their siblings is so clear but it’s also great for Darcy to hear that Lizzie believes him about Wickham.
I watched every ad that I encountered while binge watching LBD and I think youtube caught on ‘cause I’ve had an ad in every video since episode 59.
"Sorry peach!" yeah, it happens to me all the time!!!lol
That was some great acting!
Just had a crazy thought, do you think Gigi has seen something to suggest GW is at it again with Lydia (her vlog) and is hoping that telling her story will help Lydia understand that GW is not good news.
Yes...
Ugh. You are all amazing. I love it when these videos are posted. Thank you.
"I can't believe that George and Darcy were actually /friends/ once." - I love that because the meaning has switched now. Before, she was like, how can someone as charming as Wickham (*cough* Dickham) be friends with someone as 'stuck up' as Darcy. Now, it's, how can a big of a douchebag as Wickham have been friends with, well, Darcy, whom she now views in a completely different light. A much more positive one. It's just wonderful to see the relationships and viewpoints change for the better. :)
“Is this a real thing or is this more math?”
"Keeping someone ignorant isn't protecting them. It can actually endanger them, y'know?"
BEST LINE OF THE FRICKEN SERIES.
the evolution of these videos is AMAZING
LIZZIE:''Your brother is going to kill me''
GIGI: ''YEAH IN BED''
"Lizzie, did you ever wonder why I wanted to be your friend ?" "Kinda yeah" "Nothing you've said about my brother in you videos ever come close to what I've said about him to his face."
This line... It's so horrible, yet so powerful.
I can't with this show.
Gigi is completely genuine, I mean for crying out loud she shared this very intamate story in the hopes that Lydia might see it!
This. Show. Is. So. Well. Done.
You know I just realized that Pemberly Digital is actually the company that produces these videos :P
Back then, it wasn't really PD. PD existed in-universe of the LBD. It's only after the LBD ended, that it became the company that produces these things.
It's still cool though. And in the original book Pemberley was Darcy's mansion...
I know... I've read the book ;)
:P
Can I somehow give Gigi a hug through the computer?? Is that possible?
Oh the foreshadowing in this episode is epic!
"There's something there that wasn't there before!"
Something that really pains me about this video is the sisterly-ness she shows Gigi. When Gigi shares her story (sadly so similar to Lydia's) all Lizzie wants to do is to protect her. Yet, if she was half so sisterly to Lydia, none of this would be happening to Lydia. I can't help but imagine that since Lydia probably secretly still watched Lizzie's videos, she saw this and was jealous, or even just really wished Lizzie could see her as the same victim.
Come to think of it, she was probably pretty envious of Lizzie's ability to get out of the same relationship she was stuck in.
True! I feel bad because Lydia watches all of her videos but Lizzie doesn't watch hers. I'm sure Lydia feels slighted. It must hurt Lydia seeing your sister becoming close and acting more sisterly to a stranger (a stranger who's brother she used to hate at that) than her.
I think Lydia doesn't really think of Lizzie as nerdy and lame all the time. I think she secretly looks up to her but always gets left out. I think Lizzie thought that Lydia just thinks she's some lame person and doesn't care for her as much which is probably why she isn't as sisterly.
I just watched the last one when she said 'bye future wics' and straight after came this advert for Wics.com...????
I can't get tired of saying this, but, all of you, guys, are such great actors! I enjoy this series so much! Thank you ♥
I love this series so much
This is where I am in the Secret Diary
Loved that book! The scenes between Lizzie and Darcy were the best!
I really want Gigi as a sister. And Lizzie, I love you honey, but what the heck are you wearing?
I didn't expect to tear up during this video. Oh my. I am so emotionally invested in this.
"Keeping someone ignorance isn't protecting them, it can actually endanger them," I think this is one of the most powerful quotes I've heard throughout the whole series.
Did Gigi do this because she was also keeping tabs on Lydia? Seeing how George has Lydia under his thumb, maybe she thought that doing this would help Lydia see the truth about George.
Wouldn't Gigi do something a little more direct if she knew that Lydia was actually romantically involved with him?
Samantha Wathugala I'm not sure, really.. Is the answer in The Epic Adventures of Lydia Bennett?
In a way, Gigi setting up Darcy and Lizzie is her way of apologizing and making up for what she said and did to him, which I really love. This portrayal of the two as siblings is fantastic.
These videos are really well acted, I'm so impressed! I can't wait to watch Lizzie find out about Lydia and Wickham!
Lizzie looks super happy/smiley in the preview and I'm so damn excited.
I am so emotionally involved with this series.
Can I just say that we have the most genuinely beautiful cast, inside and out.
I just love Gigi. I'm really glad that she explained what happened.
Aww... Gigi's little 'I'm sorry' when she cries is so sad. All the hugs. I really love the dynamic here and Gigi's actress getting her acting on.
