In my area we get the newspapers ads still so I'm able to see sales at home and work my way around meal preps to get good deals. We have Aldi, Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club, Tony's Fresh Market, Jewel, Cermak etc. So the selection is pretty good.
We're still working on our food budget. We are trying to pay off cards while use them to prevent as much interest. Works in my mind, though it could get confusing. We get paid 3 times a month so $150 on groceries and $100 eating out each check. We do not stay on budget. I need to figure out what we are actually spending, just hadn't done that yet again. I need to track for a month again to see how we do. We mainly shop at Walmart. We have Aldi, but with being dairy free kids, we can't get everything on Aldi. I want to get back to shopping at Aldi and rest at Walmart. I just have to be up to going to two stores.
Family of 4 we shop at Aldi and Walmart and go to Sam’s club once a month I also meal prep every Sunday. With groceries we spend between $600 and $650 a week and Sam’s is normally $150-$175 a month.
My budget for groceries monthly is $560. This is for 3 grown-ups and includes packing lunch for myself and my hubby, AND I always have some leftover money from this budget for challenges. I meal plan every week.
It seems lately we have been eating out more and it is so expensive! I do try to get the best deals on what I need for the week for grocery. I like Aldi for my veggie, fruit, milk and cheese purchases. They have a good selection and the prices are lower also.
We budget $250 per month strictly for groceries. We don't include over the counter medicines, personal hygiene, or household cleaners in that number. We shop almost exclusively at a Kroger brand store. We found that Aldi's selection isn't great for fresh items or they weren't the types of items we were looking for. Hi-Vee in Iowa should have similar prices and items to what we have at Kroger, if you have one near you. We are able to keep our numbers super low since we pretty much only shop on the exterior walls of the store besides a few aisles like the baking supplies and pasta.
I will add to the Aldi bandwagon! We love Aldi and I really appreciate the prices. I like doing walmart pickup(used to do delivery), but its too easy to keep adding to the order and go out of budget.
I've cut my grocery bill in half by since cash stuffing. It's impossible to save money & only shop at one store. I do most my shopping at Kroger. They have digital coupons & good ads. I find cheaper meat prices at Winco. My kids are older & like foods. Instead of buying frozen pizzas I'll buy a big pack of Naan & they make their own. I do like Aldi for breads & snacks, too.
I budget about $400 per month (sometimes it’s less) just for me. I used to spend about $250 per month but the way prices have gone, my budget went up but I buy the same amount of groceries. I do go to specific stores for gas points and sales though so that definitely helps cut costs.
Food prices are insane up here in Canada. Last month I spent $1000 in food and household items. I have been shopping around (my small town has 2 grocery stores). That was way off the $800 I had budgeted for the month. For May, I have planned to budget $1000 and if we are under that then that is great. We are getting back into stuffing all my savings so I can be covered and we are also adding a grocery envelope to start saving some grocery money.
We spent about $800 per month at Walmart for less items than what we used to get at Walmart for $490 per month. We now have a couple of Aldis by us, so I'm going to start going there and then only getting what Aldis doesn't carry from either Walmart or Rouses because we are getting to where we just can't afford groceries for a month.
Great job saving so much for everything! We are not really struggling, but there isn't much extra after bills. I'm excited to start doing craftshows and events again so we can pay off some debt this summer!
My eating out has been out of hand lately too. I’m blaming it on my husbands new job change. I’m gonna give myself some grace to get my head back in the game and get back to controlling it better.
My brother and his fam live in NW Des Moines area. They shop at Aldi. (They have three kids, whom are in many activities, and my sister in law is a stay at home mom).
Oh boy we dont have a support system and I was whacked with some out of control autoimmune crap so off we go to NC to be with family because I have to ask for help now... sigh. I used to shop around a lot more but now I really just shop Winn Dixie (BOGO deals), Walmart (that pickup option is nice except for fresh goods here...yuck), and ALDI (more for veggies and gluten free treats). I have one store I drive out of the way for ground pork at $1.69/lb at a mom & pop grocery store here, which is way cheaper than even buying the meat chunks elsewhere to grind at home. I wish I had more farmers market & butcher options but once we move we are splitting a whole cow with part of our family. How is everything going with finding fellow homeschool moms and good groups for the boys? I sent you an email (I hope I did anyway otherwise someone else is like wtf...) with some info for state park passes :)
Yessss seee I got so dependent on walmart delivery the last few months while i was prepping for the move and then getting settled here. I don't know if I can go back, lol! I probably need to shop around at a couple of stores with good deals and then shop walmart delivery to fill in the gaps. ❤❤❤
holy smokes! 800 bucks grocery bill? you would have to share your pantry and show us what are your have to haves before letting us suggest a strategy to get that to go DOWN, ive seen your hauls before and you do a LOT of convenience foods but sometimes the money spent is worth the time saved.. maybe you need to do more meal prep - make 2 dinners at once and freeze the second one for another time. maybe when you are fixing orders you can put a budget cooking channel on to incorporate alot if your convenience likes into actual meals that can stretch a bit more.. check out southerm wife, everyday life and See Mindy Mom and southernfrugal momma and frugal fit mom - cookies and bacon is ok, as well.
I come from rather large family five children 10 grandchildren 25 I think great grandchildren and 22 already have a great great after I lost daddy and then I’ve lost mommy and two of my sisters and one brother it’s been hard because it’s like our family keeps getting farther and farther apartpretty much right now. I don’t have any family support. I don’t have children. I have a few family members that are still you know they are for me, but not many. Most of them have just gone on their own little lives.
Hey, I'm good!! Honestly my mood has changed so much (for the positive) since the weather changed. Who knew I was so dependent on the sun, lol!!! How are you? Hope all is well? ❤❤❤
You just started! Give yourself some time to get used to the process. (And to be fair, I don't usually finish a whole challenge, it's all about enjoying the process vs. perfection.) ❤
My monthly grocery budget was $200 just for me. I've had to updrade a few times because things have become so expensive! It's a very Need vs Want rn. I want fast food, but I need actually nutritious food rn. 😅 I've definitely learned to harness my willpower because Giiiiiirl, it's hard out here! 😂 I'm glad you're settling in more and yes! Aldi is my top store to go to for more affordable items. 🩷
Fareway is probably the store you're trying to think of. I spend about $125-150 per month, but I'm a one person household.
I love Living History Farm.

I spend about $900 a month on a family of 5. We shop at 3 different stores...BBs, BJs and Walmart

I have Christmas all saved. I have half of one month ahead. Sometimes it is a struggle.
That is amazing Kim!!! ❤❤❤

Family of 6. Teen boy and two men, 2 women and a baby I spend around $700. I shop at 6 different stores all in a 3 to 4 mile loop from my home.

That is amazing Linda! I'm going to have to get better at shopping around, especially as the boys are getting older and eating more. ❤

You and me both girl, I'm working on getting it together this month. We can do this! ❤❤❤
Aldi will save you money.
I've gotta go there more! ❤
Truth! I wish I still had one. 😢 It's the only thing I hate about San Antonio. We have HEB and Walmart.
Hey Jordan ❤great to see you. I am a month a head, with just bill right now.❤
That is awesome!❤❤❤
My brother and his fam live in NW Des Moines area. They shop at Aldi. (They have three kids, whom are in many activities, and my sister in law is a stay at home mom).
They LOVE the living history farm. They regularly play baseball using the original rules, and it’s fun!
Glad to see a video Jordan, thank you!! Glad you are well!!
Hello 👋 from Mexico 🇲🇽 on vacation, great savings.

oh and uhh... we made it this month without dipping too much into savings
Aldi is cheaper but I also like Walmart plus for delivery in the winter so I don’t have to leave the house

Congratulations on saving. I been struggling with saving lately. Online spending is my kryptonite
Thank you! I'll work on my fast food spending and you work on the online spending! >.< both are so easy to get pulled in to though I feel like. ❤
Yes for sure. I got my placeholders from you today also and they’re beautiful
Great unstuffing 😊
Fareway!!! They have the best meat!!!

@@JordanBudgets I understand the weather changing your mood. I have been depressed recently but I am ok
I may have missed it but I thought your parents were living with you? Or at least moved to the same state?

I’m disappointed because I haven’t finished any challenges. I started April 1

Little bits add up to big things! Do what you can, then do a little better next month!
