Are we BUYING a cabin, Tiny Home, Park Model?

- Heres a tour of cabins from WWW.LancasterLogCabins.com
We go thru some display models checking the lay outs and features. A very hard decision between a two bedroom or bunk room. Lots of projects in the works at the farm!! Is Agro-tourism a viable option? Rotational cattle grazing? Cabin rentals? Crop fields? Fishing Derby? Hunting preserve?
I love the Lakeview model. Would make the perfect tiny house for me. Leave out the bunk beds and put a window in that area to use as an office, craft area andmaybe a small stackable washer/dryer. Leave out all the built in furniture too.
That’s a good idea. I would leave out the furniture also
Great idea.
Could also make the bunch bed area a huge closet!
Finally, some "normal" people doing the same thing we would do lol - good job
Nice!!! Thanks
We stayed in a model like the third model at a KOA when our two youngest were under ten. It was very comfortable and we heard nothing outside from other campers. It was a nice stay. It was very comfortable.
Good to know, thanks!
I appreciate the pros and cons you two point out. As a newbie I need guides that know what's what.
Cool! Glad you liked it
Thank you for a true evaluation of these Park Model Homes
NP, thanks for watching !
So I'm in Ohio. 7 years ago we bought a log cabin shell from an Amish log cabin maker that's local here. We put it on a foundation on the property in Southern Ohio. It showed up pre built and was slid on the foundation. Its a 1 bedroom with a loft. We love it. What I don't love are wood bees.. So keep that in mind when your buying one and have a plan in place. Because twice a year they want to dig holes in your cabin and if you don't fill them next season they will just dig it deeper. I liked the idea of a shell because then I could put in what worked best for us. I'm not a fan of anything on wheels so I wanted a foundation. You are correct the yearly taxes for that lot of 7 acres went from 72 dollars a year to 647. All things to think about. Good luck on your journey.
Thanks for your input! Those bees are definitely something to think about.
Yes I seen these yrs ago when my husband & I would rent a cabin in the smokies those wood bees destroying the house crazy thing
If your ball bearings are falling out you are buying cheap sliders. Good quality 100-pound capacity sliders are the way to go, forget wood! Have used quality soft close sliders for 40 years and never had a failure much less bearings coming out.
Good advice!
I have had sliders for years and have never had one bearing fall out. A quality slider will work almost forever. Think about mechanics tool boxes with sliders, they carry way more weight than what clothing weighs and they last forever...
Yea, good point
Thats what im looking for, 50-70k with 15-20% down. Main problem I have is trying to find a place to put it. Lots to think about and research when looking for a little land.
It’s getting harder and harder to find some land. People are so fed up with everything, they’re all getting back to basics
Awesome job making this video! Your my kind of humor with can only buy if you live on the lake!!! Got to see some nice craftsmanship! Well done! Thx for sharing
NP, thanks for watching!
Thank you for your practical knowledge and observations! I've been in love with the Adirondack as a potential retirement cabin for myself, but I know nothing about utility setup, construction, etc. So I appreciate what I'm learning here!
Thank you!!
I love the Sierra! Perfect in my mind. I'd want a concrete basement, and I'd get a rinnai on demand in the basement so you could use basement as storage.
Yeah those side mount drawer sliders don't hold up well. The undermount ones are much better, especially if it's DTC, which is a brand, but even then, they tend to give out after about 5-7 years. I was QC lead for a cabinet company and was handling the replacement orders.
As of 20:50 I've seen a lot of these bunk beds in quite a few videos. If you have 2 kids how long is that going to work ? And a lot of these places have little to no closet space so you may need that loft for storage. And what you store may also function as insulation.
Great video thank you! How do you think these would hold off in northeast winters!? I don’t think walls are insulated right?
The log construction is the installation I believe. Any park model cabin/trailer’s water lines will freeze in the winter. You would need proper skirting around the bottom and electric heating pads placed under it to prevent freezing.
☀️🕊🙏🏻Perfect homes!! Thank! you!!🪻🏡🪻🪻
NP!
That Lakeview cabin would be my choice. Lovely
Cool!
Hey Now. I bought 1 it comes this spring in Maine.
Right on!!
Great video... My wife and I are considering one of these. Did you end up getting one? If so, which one did you decide to go with?
Thanks. We did not purchase cabins yet. We started to renovate our barn in our field first. It had a bad roof and needed to get done first.
That cabinet is where your solar equipment would go.
Nice
As of 8:42 his comments are all on point. I tend to agree. I would definitely cut down on windows. As of 9:23 I've seen too many of these with bunk bed in weird places. Does not look right at all.
Thanks!
I like the first cabinet had the upstairs it was made for older people to get upstairs so the kids would be sleeping on the bunkbeds downstairs
Yes
Thanks for this very informative video. I'm moving out of CA , downsizing and this is exactly what I'm looking for.
Cool, good luck !
I've seen a lot of videos of these cabins before. I don't know what to say. The quality seems really good, but I guess these are only good for vacation rentals. It would be possible to live in these as a permanent home if you are single, and owned next to nothing.
And learning how to save it and invest it is wisdom and a sign of intelligence ❤😂
Right on
So many options to do better by this manufacturer. Also looks like some of the ceiling fans are set for clock-wise Winter. LOL
I’d like to see a metal siding option over the logs. I don’t want to deal with carpenter bees
A DIY one ton mini split could be added to the bedroom for under $1000. I HAVE A 2 ton in my living room / Kitchen 450 sq ft. A 1 ton in each of my 2 bedrooms.
Sounds like a plan!
I love these, cabins.
Right on!
Its very funny where they cut costs to me I dunno why but when he was talking about the lighting I was thinking the exact same thing, I was like that looks like a light you would have outside next to your garage why is it in the loft for children? lol and he goes "that light is absolutely ridiculous" at the same time LOL
Right on!
Very well presented!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Good video. Thank you.
NP!
I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Please tell me how much would u rent that out for ?? A night ? And each week? Thanks
Well, I think it would depend on the area, local attractions, amenities at location, and a bunch of other factors. Renting out per day, weekends and weekly is definitely on the table. We have a bunch of stuff here and in the area. I would block out hunting seasons unless I rented out the place to hunters. I would keep the rental fee as high as possible, not to take people for their money but to hopefully eliminate renters that may be problematic.
@@oxford821 thank you so much I'm in Florida and country side . You are very helpful and I thank you guys for your time .love the videos
Thanks a bunch!!
I really enjoyed this.
Right on, thanks!
I like the Lakeview the best!!!!!
Tough decision….
@@oxford821 me and my wife are considering the lake view or a modular for our land in WV, been shopping around for the best bang for buck, minus mobile homes, my wife refuses to give em the time to even look at...
Right on!
Just beautiful
The cabins are nice too!
Definitely need a second mini split
Yes!
I do away with the tiny bedroom make kitchen and living bigger and it needs 2 mini splits and yea better lighting
Right!
I want a model emptied of bunk beds and furniture.
Yea no need for that
The bathroom vanity is built like that so Handicaped people are able to use the toilet to slide transfer on to it . That is law in Canada .
Cool, that makes sense
These are super nice !!!
Yes!
The Ones with Lofts.... Why Don't the Manufactures offer a option to Raise the Loft so that we can have a Full Second Floor? Either Raise it Mechanically or Electrically. Either put the Wall sections you need to add, in the loft or Unfold as it raises... Solid Walls of coarse. Electrical for ceiling lights could plug in to a socket in the lower section and a Interior wall so the room could actually be a room.
I would like a Park Model that has a Loft but also would actually want a Second Bedroom/Hobby Room/Guest Room and Not a Crawl Space. I am Too F'n Old, Fat and Out of Shape to be crawling around on the floor.
I have asked a Few but Never get a reply.
That’s a good idea. It can’t be about keeping cost down because these suckers are almost as much as a small house already. There used to be pull behind campers that had lift up sides
@@oxford821 What are you talking about? I have seen people STUPID enough to pay 140K for a F'n 8x12 "Tiny House" on a trailer from Lowe's, Home Depot, Menards, Tractor Company... ( or that's what they charged the 70yrold lady ). Seen Some people Stupid enough to pay 250K for a 12x32 and a Actual House would have been Half that.. then they permanently set it up on their Parents Property... Seen One where they paid/Spent the 240K to build one and set it up on a 50x50 Lot. No Second bedroom in the loft area that you had to crawl around in.. Where there are Stupid People, those Same People would be willing to pay.... At Least Offer the Option... Hell, Even Slide-outs... I am not calling myself stupid but I would Cut Off the Roof at the Roof line and Add the Extra Height myself.. But then again, I am getting too Old, Fat and Out of Shape to be doing it, so would want them to do it for me..
I remember when these things started hitting the market, they were Half the Price they are now and Just as Nice.. Then Offer them Without all the Furniture and Appliances and and and ... That will cut Down on the Price by a Good 10k right there...
I agree 100% Im to old to be crawling around on severely bad knees like a baby.
The lofts are sized the way they are for DOT regulations since these are able to move on the roads. I have seen other similar styled homes that come as a "floor & 1/2" that the roof section is on hinges that would be set up once in place on site....
That’s a good idea.
1st. A.D. Brother, I was 3rd. Herd, nice video.
RIGHT ON!!!
Sierra now comes with a min split in the main bedroom now
Good news!
Location, where. I live in Arizona 😮
Are those on I beam chassis or wood skids?
The cabins are built onto tractor trailer frames.
There are no washer dryer hookups
I think i liked the rancher the best, too bad it didnt have a porch
I’m thinking two bedrooms would be better especially for non-couples staying. Not having the cool porch does suck.
Just add a deck
My king bed has two pillows. They are king pillows!
Right on!
Maybe the bedroom cabinet is for linens and blankets
Good be!
Where is the washer/dryer?
Definitely need that
That’s what the ones with the longer bathrooms are for. There is an optional stackable washer/dryer water and air ducts hookup system that can be added between sink and toilet.
Nobody makes a complete hardwood cabinet on the inside and outside !! Have a tiny house custom made ! If so, ask to have ceiling fan dropped a foot or 2 down and get a better one with longer blades, that will make a huge difference in cooling !!! Short blade ceiling fans are only good for small rooms. Be sure to check your state, county and local regulations before buying a tiny house !!! Regulations have changed over the years !! Don't assume nothing !
The little houses are beautiful tho so thanks for sharing that. Just be nice if yall didn't talk
Thanks for watching and don’t forget to subscribe!
wow! He's Mr. negative.
Not all the time!
Yeah - I thought Carrier was made in USA too !!!
👍
Can you hear a lot of sound coming from the outside like cars?
The factory was set back away from roads. The logs are true solid wood, not veneer siding. I’m thinking it would be pretty quiet?
Although we appreciate (& we do) you sharing this video; you complained more than anything. 🥴 All the upgrades would raise the "Price" drastically! How many places do you know of that make these with furniture included for those "FANTASTIC PRICES"!?? We have researched tons of Tiny Homes, they range from $20,000 to Up Over$400,000. Personally for what they offer, that's Probably who we will go with. Thanks for sharing
NP, thanks for watching!
@@oxford821 I appreciate bringing the negative, as well as the positive, features to the viewers' attention.
Needs a mini split with two evaporators
Yes!
Making money is an action. Keeping money is behavior. Growing money is knowledge
Hopefully, I fall somewhere in there!
I heard a lot of investing with Mr Brian C Nelson how good is he, please how safe are the profit
WOW, so, so TRUE!!😉
S C A M M E R ! ! !
@mellyhorjberg6181I invested $10 bucks and made $360,000!!! -all thanks to this fella...
Furniture dont come with it lol but oook take it out ... Waalaah.. its actually nice 💯
Keep on giving your opinion after all that's what we're doing right??
Right!
did they kick you out? you complained about everything!
No, they made a bunch of improvements after my video
I'm looking for about you are but for me to live in on my land I am wanting something to live in till I die I am on social security. Thanks I will tag along with yall if you don't mind
Cool!
Where are these made
Lancaster County PA
small homes tiny and park models ,I've never found any hangover more than three inches ...I know it's not good, but that's the way it is unless you build it yourself....😅 and believe me these tiny homes and park models are very expensive !!!... compare to the footage , most of the time they're built with the cheapest materials they can find. Which means very low quality material.😢😢😢
Yes, they are very expensive
looking for rental cabin in mountains/. anyone have any ideas
Put a washer dryer in there
Definitely
Nice 👍 1:18
Right on!
Lancaster pa?
Yes, that’s where the factory is.
@@oxford821 do they rent to own?
Yall got a lot of great ideas…. And a lot of complaining….. yall should start your own company like theirs and show them how it’s done
If I was 30 years younger
Enough about the mini split!!
Ok. We won’t mention how the cabin needs another mini split
Different looking now
Damn video got cut off .. 😁👍🏻
? Could you watch it
i was 1st armor div in Erlangen Germany 2/81 armor
Right on!!
No storage though
We were looking as a weekend rental. Storage probably wouldn’t matter?
you hurt my eyes. I will report your video 😂😂😂
I don’t get it?
lol your delco accent is wylin lol
Crazy!
Weird you feel obliged to let yourself into units when they’re not open for business.
It’s display models.
@@oxford821 yeah I mean I know and nobody was there
but you do you. 😬
A fool and his money 💰 is
soon parted. The prices on those units are way to high. 😮😮😮😢
Kevin Phoenix ✝️
Yes, way too much.
I really didn't like any of them. The Lakeview was the best
It’s a tough decision
No matter what rv or on a foundation you have to pay taxes
I was referring to property taxes
@oxford821 still paying something for that rv at the end of year if the purpose is not to pay property taxes you still have to pay something I like the idea that you have but there's noway around it nothing is free
The porch boards are pressure treated . I work here. No your facts before announcing it
Thanks for the info. It’s KNOW, NOT no, and YOUR WELCOME FOR ADVERTISING SO YOU CAN KEEP YOUR JOB.
Not one would entice someone to want to stay.
Could be better for the price
They are not campers
Right. A park model is different
Mini split ac. R no good
O no! I’m hoping to get one?
im sorry you guys complain way to much . but i would buy one i loved the rancher and add the things it needed. i don`t think ill be watching anymore of your videos
Your gonna miss out
You need to think of a larger audience.
That company is cheap as hell. You can tell in almost every detail of that thing. Why do they put a fan in a room when they should put another split? Cheap.
The fans were useless
I'd hate to know I was so miserable with who I was that I'd post a video of complaining for the world to see. Wow. Some people just amaze me at the way the art. So glad I'm not you. Life's to short to be this way. Yall are meant for eachother. Misery loves company
I flunked acting school. I checked your channel so I could learn from your videos….. but zero content, of course.
I actually didn't take it that way. I just saw this as a couple shopping and comparing what they saw, with what their needs would be. Completely normal to me! Men always see the building pros/cons; that's a good thing. Women normally see functional things like the kitchen, and bedroom pros/cons. They both saw wasted space in the bath (as did I). Since they were physically there, they easily spoke of the pros/cons of the fans and AC. They both bragged on the Mini Split.
Yes, thanks for the clarification!
@@oxford821 You're welcome. By the way, thank you for your service and sacrifices! 🇺🇸
They all look cheaply made! No Go !!!!
Very overpriced nowadays
Lol, who in the heck are you unprofessionals? Showing up like hey! Check out what we think! 🤣🤣🤣 you guys are all wrong.
Yes Sir you are correct. I’m just a guy that films crap I do. Thanks for the comment, and don’t forget to subscribe!
IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN DON'T BUY ONE GO KICK ROCKS
O no! All caps!!!
