We saw this production in Providence Rhode Island where it launched this national tour last fall. Katerina is an absolute amazing actress and incredible singer. She has the acting ability and voice to carry this role and she proves it. This clip is great to see here but does not do this song justice. To see and hear it performed live in the theater is very memorable. The entire cast of the national touring production are excellent in their roles. If it comes to a city near you do not miss it. Katerina is and Julie Benko was in my opinion the two best Fanny's.
I recently saw her in playhouse square! She was wonderful, I love how her voice is a little deep. So wonderful. The whole thing, really. All the actors. My grandmother kept commenting how she really liked how Katerina sounded like Barbara singing.
katerina and julie benko had the best performaces, they are so unique and they have their own way to potray fanny, instead some people just want to imitate barbra (i dont even need to talk about barbra she just is THE GOAT)
Did you get any other video? I saw her yesterday in Minneapolis at the Orpheum, she was phenomenal. She did this one just a tad differently, there was a point she held the note, held it, held it, the orchestra stopped playing, she kept going, it was unbelievable
Sorry to everyone who loves Lea Michelle, but this is miles better than Lea in my opinion. Lea Michelle’s performance, to me, feels like a world-class Barbra Streisand impersonation, while Katerina sounds like her own performer.
When i Saw people saying Lea is copying Barbra, i Litteraly had to close my mouth cause i realese all of that are the hate on her.. Lea didn't even sing in the original Key...
Yes I love Katerina's performance. But Lea's performance of DROMP is unmatched and unique including her energy, the key, her belt and she's the only on to sing this with so much ease.. For sure Katerina is so Good in this perfomance but Lea's performance is imcomparable cos her version, I mean the key she's using is unique and original. @@tonymoreno5724
@@yelanatesthat’s not how that works. The numbers only continue if it is the same exact production going out on tour. This is 60 years later with a completely new staging. It’s the 1st national tour
Very nice! She reminds me a little of Valery Harper, with a little Linda Lavin thrown in, too. Though Linda Lavin’s voice was bigger. Different time, more practice being heard without being miked.
When was this? The old school jazz vocals/belt are amazing in this video, but the UA-cam ad that keeps playing nowadays with her in the recording studio has more “poppy” and thinner vocals with the longer held note at the end. I’m guessing this is an early leg of the tour, she’s probably improved a lot since then. I’m hoping to see her on the San Francisco leg next month with these vocals but also with the epic note at the end where the orchestra isn’t rushing to finish like in this video.
You may be thinking of the "final note(s)" at the end of the show. This is the end of the 1st act. It's a shorter "my" and "parade".... where as at the VERY end of the show, she holds onto the "MY......" for an ETERNITY with the orchestra cut off (and it's simply amazing, literally like 3x longer than Lea Michelle on the official bway recording), and then "parade" to close it out. Kat has simply taken over this role now. No one else compares. No one. She will forever own this musical.
@@jbmusic309 So I have a friend who works in the wardrobe department for the San Francisco tour of Funny Girl. She timed the length of the last note of Rain on my parade reprise and it was for THIRTY SEVEN SECONDS.
I have been debating whether to see the show in LA. This clip made up my mind. While Katerina has an exceptional voice, her acting is off. The number calls for rage, defiance, determination, fire. She lacks the darker energy needed to propel the narrative arc of the song. After I watched this, I rewatched Lea Michele, who has all the urgency and defiance and rage the song needs to also capture the audience's solidarity. It only works on the surface level.
I can honestly say that Katerina’s performance was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. I have experienced many broadway performances and have even performed on Broadway myself, and she blew my mind. Her acting is on point for this number and every aspect of this show. While I am not a fan of this show, I am now a huge fan of her. I would encourage you to go. You will not be disappointed.
I think if you were to view her performance in its entirety, it might make more sense how this approach to the song fits in to her portrayal. It's hard to pluck a song out and say that it's not acted correctly, when were aren't seeing what she did with the role in the scenes before and after this moment.
please keep reminding people. I don't care how talented she is, it was wrong for her to audition knowing they were looking for someone Jewish and couldn't just ask her if she was. She shouldn't have been cast and I stand by that.

Her acting is worthy of a Tony. Her emotion is felt on every note. Her singing is astounding. She's absolutely incredible. Bravo Katerina.
she's the greatest I've ever seen
Saw her last night in Dallas and she was SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!
I love that shes got an old school full sounding belt! Thats what these classic scores call for.
Saw her last night and was completely blown away. She has one of the best voices I’ve ever heard in any Broadway production.
This has to be the best rendition of this song I’ve seen. Fabulous vocals and character and commitment. Loved it. Chills!!!!😊
Amazing breath control! 👏👏👏
Omg I saw her live, and she is spectacular.
Truly the best experience I've had in a long time.
The most incredible voice!
Wow! What a great rendition of that iconic song. She made it her own and KILLED!
As much as much as I would’ve loved to see Lea Michele, I just saw Katerina last night and she does not disappoint. She was amazing.

Best Fanny ever !!

Its because they’re playing Fanny Brice, not Barbra
Its not about playing barbra, its about trying to be as iconic as her instead of being original (im talking about lea michelle)

Fun fact: Katerina played Ocean in the McCarter Theatre production of Ride the Cyclone!

Amazing rendition. Although I have to say the ensemble looks very young, it feels its a school production. 🙈
I believe those actresses play the Ziegfeld Follies girls, so they should be fairly young looking.
Lea Michel who? Sorry but Katerina blows her out of the water. Katerina IS Funny Girl.
My thoughts exactly!

Katerina is amazing. Whoever did this camera is terrible.

Yes, sure. Someone who wasn’t cast at the time should have been on the CD of a major Broadway musical, that needed Lea Mitchell’s name to survive
