4:50 that (being part of the windows sound driver chain) is actually a huge advantage compared to ARK Multimedia. With the later you have to find a VST host that you can insert into the sound chain (VBCable + pedalboard 2 works for me); to always listen through the calibrated module is important to have a less subjective experience when comparing your mixes to commercial ones you may hear on UA-cam / soundcloud / Spotify.

Hey Axel, thank you for adding always your golden input to the reviews! That's a huge advantage - That's why I also switched to Mac because Audio routing etc. is general easier :) Totally agree, have the plugin on and adjust your ears! Wish you all the best, thanks for watching!

12:00 the center of the space seems to be the worst for recording with all that feedback building up in the low mids. I wonder if one could make a (moveable) bass trap in form of a free standing column?

18:28 I bet reaper has a way to insert the plugin on your output channel only (so you don't have to think of turning it off when exporting). In Cubase Pro we use the "Control Room" which has 4 dedicated Cue channels and a Master channel which are all exclusively for listening (after the master bus) - you can also put your measurement plugins there. If Reaper doesn't have this for the master channel you might use a send to an aux to HW out for listening back and then just put sonarworks on the aux channel. But Reaper is so powerful I bet there is something you can do about this!
Edit - 19:15 there you said it. I knew Reaper is just as awesome as Cubase in many respects!

23:25 it is quite astonishing in the near field setup (close to the "round" wall) how even your bass response curve is. So as long as you stay away from the center I believe you have quite a good chance of delivering a great low end - which as we know is about 70% of the mix. In my own experience, the corners of a room always created the most bass problems.

Great video Ady! I was listening through my nearfield monitors when you enabled Sonarworks, and it was really apparent how much more definition I could hear. It must have been that bump in the 350-400 hz range. I finished remeasuring my room with the rug back in and now I feel much more confident about my mixing. I'm not running out to the car with a CD to listen so much! Ha ha THanks for sharing the process!

You Rock, thank you again for watching David! Yeah, honestly it blew my mind :) How is it going for you after re-measuring your room with the carpet? Big difference?

@@HitTheRoadMusicStudio It's a lot easier getting the low end together for me now. I have a big bump in the low end coming off the console which is tamed now. I have a bunch of demos to mix for a client, and have a guy coming in to do some more recording next week. It's kind of folk and country stuff so I'll get to play a lot of instruments. :)

This is cool, and fun! I live near a house that is a dome similar to this. It might be a little bigger, like a whole geodesic sphere kind of sitting in a circular wall type foundation. (from my memory it seemed to have an underside as well) It is a block and a half west of me right now. I have always wondered how this might sound inside! 😀 I am amazed at what this software can do! Thanks for letting us explore with you! 💕

You Rock Audrey, thanks for sharing! Go and get this sound in the dome, we are all curious now what's going on there :) Thank you for watching and being with us on our path!
