The projection from the middle guy is off the charts.
Like most theists, his argument is " I find that hard to believe (science) so I'll believe what a guy with a book said". If morals are universally agreed why can't theist agree on things like abortion or the death penalty. It seems to disprove everything they say about morals.
you can't have ''objective'' morality in a religious setting , not even a little bit ...
we keep inventing words like , objective and subjective , morality
we give MEANING TO the words we invent , we try and USE the words we invent ... and the religious ... just CHANGE THE MEANING ... ???
how are we supposed to actually '' live in a society '' , when there IS NO society you can talk too , have a conversation with , s
say ANYTHING AT ALL , other then what people had for breakfast ... and even That would be a BIG CHORE for the mind of the religious ... ???
how is a person supposed to actually LIVE on this planet ??? how ??
I've never seen anyone explain what these moral laws actually are.
If this creator wrote morality on my heart, why does it fail so utterly to live up to those very standards it gave me?
Theistic morality is nonsense.
It always cracks me up when a theist says, that just kicks the can down the road. But you ask them, who created the creator, they say, oh no, that is just a brute fact. It's my pretend way of making that can stop. It's hilarious!
Steve clearly didn't want to hear Tom's story about a guy with a tumor when it was removed he stopped committing crimes. This is very good evidence of the fact that consciousness, morality, love, art etc are all simply normal functions of the human brain no more. I also noticed when the conversation moved to various topics he quickly realized he was out of his depth. So he was eager to have the next debate on much more limited subject matter preferably of his choosing .
"Functions of the human brain,* nothing more."
I think you meant to add that comma. Without it, your comment is saying the exact opposite of what you mean.
The tumor argument shook him. Shame he can’t seem to be honest about it.
let me think, will they provide evidence of god? will they?
😂🤣😂 NO CHANCE EVER!!!!!
Holding my breath.... Awh crap I passed out. Did I miss it?
I don't understand cosmological science, I don't believe cosmological science, I am ignorant of cosmological science, therefore my invisible magical god-boy-friend exists.
It's like he doesn't even realize how embarrassed how should be! 😳 it almost makes me pity christians. Almost.
Aren't there unicorns in the Bible? Don't they believe that unicorns actually exist?
I believe theists have renamed physics after their favorite ancient tribal god so that they can tell people that they have to believe in their ancient tribal laws as well.
When your life IS a presupposition aligned with a deity, "faith" in the the supernatural and extraordinary become second nature - hence cognitive dissonance is experienced en masse by adherents.
28:10 The projection is phenomenal. What do you think it is when you guys propose that god did it?
The whereby cutout was because there were more than two people in the meeting
He quickly stopped the conversation when he was cornered from all sides.
@50:30.
Has he read his own christian bible? Yes, committing genocide was not only fine and commanded by his christiangids, but also deemed to be GOOD!! Which means, as a christian, he has to abide by the moral absolutes of his christian gods who deem committing a holocaust to be good, he can never say that it is a bad thing. Fortunately, we have evolved beyond the interior morals dictated by gods made in the image of men and can state a holocaust is wrong based on the empirically measured outcomes of said genocides and holocausts.
can he stop his budgie from ringing that bell.
😂🤣
I can’t believe how hard this old man is working to not understand what Tom is saying.
Theology - the study of unicorns.
There’s about eleventeen trillion to the power of 48 billion times more likelihood of a unicorn existing than a sky daddy.
59:30 "that one case doesn't answer ALL of human behavior"
The same guy maybe one minute later : " I don't think most people buy that theory because if I were to ask my wife....'
For those who are seeking if it might all be just imagined encounters or if God actually exists, do this: Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart. James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God. Jeremiah 29:12 ye shall go and pray unto me; and I will hearken unto you.
Is it just me, or was this guy purposefully dishonest and uncharitable?
i think it's more like a derren brown show, derren brown does a hypnotism thing where he tells a dozen people he will levitate a bottle, he hypnotises them carries a bottle across the stage, they all think the bottle is floating, and even though he has told them how the trick works, even the people who say they KNOW he is carrying it, can't see him. i think religion is like that, people convince themselves that jesus is there and loves them and all will be well, who cares about reality.
Theist: "Clearly you believe the Holocaust is absolutely wrong?"
Me: Now turn to Numbers 31 in the Bible.
aww, they find that people get emotional. maybe if they prayed harder?
i'm surprised, given i heard someone say "look at the quantum fields" the other day, that no one has suggested dark energy is god. or some god thing.
by far one of the most egregious examples of "projection" I've seen in a while. What a waste of oxygen
And STILL!!!!! No evidence for a ‘God’ 😂
When a person mention “evolution” and “happend by chance” in thesame sentence, I get extremely annoyed.
Derp derp derp
If he thinks William Lane Craig is good, then I think we all know how strong of a background he has in various subjects.
Wish Ken Ham
hunger and morality ARE the same thing , desires to be filled or rejected , feelings , your feefee's
not everybody has diner the moment they get hungry , some of us have patients and CONTROL over our own bodies ...
which we learned through PRACTICE ... morality is the same thing ... more practice = more experience = more knowledge about the subject ... ,
but when your SO CALLED '' experience of life '' ... comes from a book that's 2000+ years old , with stories that are even older then that ,
how are you going to learn ANYTHING AT ALL ... ??? when you just READ ABOUT '' life experience '' ... out of a damned book ... ?
that's not HAVING A LIFE , that's copying someone else's life , without YOU having learned ANYTHING AT ALL , what so ever .... , not even a tiny bit
They speak, just the same old shit.
its so amusing to witness these old farts starting out strong and confident and as the debate goes on and they get pushed on their babble, the argument get more and more feeble. apparently they loose all ability to recognize the glaring special pleading they are engaging in.
lose*
Hahahahaha.......the 2 old guys hahahahahahahaha..........oh dear hahahahahaha !.......their argument was that they don't understand anything about science so God must have done it !hahahahahahaha......
If morality is from god,why is the bible so bad at it?
Bible was written by people.
This guy doesn't believe that squirrels have morality, or what morality would look like from our perspective if we were squirrels, or any other animal
14:55
‘…the belief in god is a like a belief in a unicorn…’
Um. Ok. Dude in the middle is correct, it’s not comparable.
There’s about eleventeen trillion to the power of 48 billion times more likelihood of a unicorn existing than a sky daddy.
Dude in the middle is embarrassing himself.
These 2 are so pompous, smug and arrogant!
Particularly at the end
Very rude
32:44 doesn’t the hundreds of people commenting and listening count.
I wish people would keep their biography out of the discussion. It’s boring.
Potato.
Hebews 4:12 For the word of God is living powerful sharper then any two edged sword piercing even to the division of spirit and of bone and of joint and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart..you know good and well God exist and promise on your last breath you will see not only God has preserved people and others for judgment to give you time to ask God to come into your heart...you may not believe but you will be forced to admit gid is lord and every toungue shall confess...so if you want to say God is not real then why refuse to not believe in something that does not exist ...I do not care what you say
You talk a lot of shit, buddy. 😂
If you don’t care what we say, why bother posting here? Why does your almighty God need a petulant child to defend his reputation? Is he too fake to do it himself?
@alexshaw8905 blessed are those whp commit justice and righteousness at all times...so we know that I'm we are obedient...times will get hard storms will come but love of knowledge will keep you from the hour of trail to test those to dwell on this earth ....so yes I talk alot I don't do it with the lord if you are fighting that your never gonna win...as the enemy is to fool those who control social media and those who in power are in cults to destroy but God will return weather you wabt him to or not in a blinking of an....we will be changed.....changing of the hearts is for man but the answer comes from the mouth of the lord book pf proverbs....so people in the political world make God seem like he is just a trend where you don't need him...but that is terribly wrong...I love you all
12:07 particles popping in and out of view! Like when you're a child and your parents play peakaboo with you and you think things are popping in and out of existence.
Theists parrot the same hoary old arguments to rationalise their bronze age myths.anyone that believes in talking snakes and donkeys is a fool. Anyone that doesn't is selectively rewriting the supposed word of God.And tom continually nails these deluded evasive hypocrites.
Mote fallacious reasoning... it's getting old.
Faith is confidence, so we would have more confidence to believe it's a horse! Just like we have more confidence in God when we see order in the world and less confidence in random unguided nature.
Your comment only serves to demonstrate your ignorance. 😬 super embarrassing.
Nature is not random and it's guided
Nature is not random, and there is no evidence that it requires guidance by a non-physical entity.
@ianchisholm5756 Well, you're right, of course, because it's ultimately guided by the physical laws God established from the beginning. I was referring to nature without God. If you want to believe the guidence is purely physical, then that's on you to prove since there is no such evidence of pure physical. But it sounds like a personal problem, not a real problem.
@@constructivecritique5191are you implying intent by calling it guidance? Are you implying an end goal. When atoms combine to form molecules do you think they "mean" to do it?
Another episode of the hidden loaded questions of atheism! Question based on only physical things existing.
When you repeatidly state you are a physicilist and ask why do you not agree with physicilism, that's not hiding loaded questions , he also adds reasons for coming to the physical conclusion
@Steve0272. that's interesting! Did he explain it with his imagination that doesn't exist or with sticks and stones that he claims exist.
A loaded question makes assumptions that confirm what hasn't been established. Like, do you beat your wife every night, or just once a week?
It's just a game he plays.
If he was honest and told people upfront that concepts don't exist, then the debate would be over.
Phyicalism is self-contradictory!
That's why! The video is about evidence for God. Not physicalism. Please provide a time stamp where you got that it was about physicalism. I missed it!
What non-physical things should atheists be asking about?
@@ianchisholm5756 what is your question referring to. I don't see it here.
@@constructivecritique5191 I was referring to your original comment, in which you appeared to see questions 'based on only physical things' as an issue. I am genuinely interested in why you see discussion of the physical world as inappropriate, and what other things you felt atheists should base their questions on.
