If you're referring to the 2nd game - 1st round, KV's confirm was riddled with burst baits and OSes. Johnny's combos in general are dangerous to burst once Mist Finer is involved (as seen in the round after).
I was referring to last round of last game, surprising he died with his burst while holding onto it. I know bursting against Johnny can be dangerous, but when its your only option, I'm surprised he didn't at least try at some point
Yeah he can probably attempt a desperate gold burst past a certain point. KV's combo ended with a lot of jPs, which can OS vs Bursts. Then there's also the fact that even with a successful burst, Sin has to fight a Johnny with an upgraded MF.
Well, there is the thought that Machabo should not have won last year. How many times has Sin been nerfed, and NOTICEABLY nerfed? (Machabo used YRC to eat several times last year. That was removed within days of EVO 2016 ending). More importantly, Machabo (inadvertently?) insulted Nage, and so Nage showed him that if You play GG, you should play GG. Not SFV.
In a Japanese publication, abut a month before EVO, there was a publication of an interview with Machabo. Machabo was asked what the chances of him taking EVO again this year was, and he said about 50%. He said that the only player that he was at all concerned about was... Omito. (So the theory is Nage disliked that) So Nage turned around and insta-killed the former evo champ and sent him to losers.
Leomendarus the thing is, even at that point in 2016 when machabo won, he still wasn't even the best character in the game. Zato and Johnny were still considered better, when johnny had his unblockables and other crazy shit. Sin was crazy good but even then he still wasn't the best and other players of those better characters lost early or even to machabo (like omito)
I do NOT understand how this match isn't on stream. Good on you for recording it
npp
IT IS BROOO
Thanks for uploading these. Shame they were off-stream.
Wladislav my pleasure friend
It was a great set, but I love how nobody has pointed out the random Dabuz appearance at 2:06.
everyone took Dabuz for granted.
You are truly FGC Jesus, thank you Jason
This should be ranked as one of the best comebacks in evo. KV beating the previous year's evo champ.
Thanks a ton dude
wow that was epic man, glad you got this with good quality too
Thanks for this. Anyone know what happened to Kizzy? I don't recall seeing him on stream.
After the match u can see him behind KV
I think ogawa getting eliminated wasn't on stream either
Very interesting choice for Machabo not to burst.

GcYoshi13 damn, I'm still learning this game, and I love when mind games like this are revealed. So much to think about. Thanks for the insight
How did Machabo go from being number 1 winner last year to not even making top 16 and getting bopped off-stream?
