We love Azure Standard and have been so happy with everything we have gotten. I agree with you about the regenerative almonds being superior to standard almonds however I wish that they were not pasteurized. Scientific studies have shown that heating almonds over certain temperatures for extended periods of time may create potentially harmful levels of acrylamide, a chemical that is suspected to cause cancer I wish that they would tell you how long and at what temperature they are heating the almonds. I have been purchasing the Azure truly raw organic almonds as they are from Spain and not pasteurized. Unfortunately they are more expensive and I have been looking for a cheaper option and do not purchase them often. Thanks for sharing your haul. Your belt is very cool would you mind sharing where you purchased
Oh, that's good to know about the high temperatures! I'll send a DM to to the farm on IG and see what kind of response I get back. In my experience, most smaller regenerative farms tend to only use low temp pasteurization for products where the law requires, but I will see what I can find out and report back when I do. :) My belt is from Lou Taubert's here in Casper. They're a local, family owned Western store. 🤠
@@AmandaFayWillis Thank you for looking into this I appreciate it. I am ok with low temp pasteurization for a short time and would love to be able to purchase a cheaper option for almonds. Look forward to your response.
@joanlynn688 As I was double checking their IG handle on the Azure product listing to send them a DM, I found this note under the description. It looks like it's not an extended period of time otherwise, I don't think they would still sprout: "**Due to USDA regulation all "raw" almonds grown in California must be subjected to a "flash" steam pasteurization process in order to protect the consumer from pathogens. Although "pasteurized," California raw almonds still have the taste and texture of a raw almond, will sprout, and according to research, pasteurization causes little to no loss of nutrition. These almonds are PPO free (propylene oxide free) and have had no chemicals applied in processing."
