@thesoapseduction I so do agree, Peabody Bryson's theme for One Life To Live was and still is the best, phenomenal and ultimate version of One Life To Live theme songs and needs to be released as a single for download in Amazon, Spotify, ITunes, etc.

The '80s openings are the ones I remember! They don't make TV themes like they used to.

Now they're so short. Days Of Our Lives even cut out the tick tock at the beginning.

I'm sitting here literally crying watching these intros....especially from the 80's and up I'm 50 years old and I can remember the ABC soaps being a part of my life since I was little.... Damn it was a Blow when they canceled them, I have never recovered from it Long live ABC Soaps!!!
Almost 50 myself, and I know exactly what you mean.... I think part of it, and this might get you crying again, is that back then we never even conceived that such a time would ever end. It was as though it would always be that way, and now we have to just look back and be nostalgic.... For me it is the same theme you are talking about, but I love the closing when it goes "time only knows how long forever is going to last...."

Of all the ABC soaps, OLTL changed their opening the most.
And sometimes put people in the opening who weren't even on the show.
Ha! Days on NBC still has basically the same one they started out with in 1965.

I cannot tell you how many times my mom recorded episodes of this show on our VCR. We still have old tapes on the basement.

Another awesome soap gone but never forgotten. A soap that, at times reminded me of my all time favorite ( The edge of night ). Thank God we still have General hospital! Truly the only one left that's entertaining.
The early openings remind me of being a child at home with my mom. The music is totally soothing to me.

My mother started watching this show when she was in high school, and I remember the OLTL intro with Peabo singing when I was a little girl. I have been watching OLTL for about 2 1/2 years now ( since the took off my beloved Passions) and have been a fan of the show since.
That was the best ride through history that I've had for ages. I've been watching OLTL almost from the start, and I could remember where I was during each of the title "eras." Thank you so much for posting this. I marked it as a favorite.

I will never forgive ABC/Disney for putting a sudden end to One Life to Live.
Best Opinion Towards ABC'S All My Children & One Life To Live Being Canceled.
But doesn’t every show have to be canceled at some time? It’s like the fact that we all have to die no matter how sad that sounds.

IKR I feel the same that's why I no longer watch anything on ABC. They took away All my Children and my all time favorite One Life to Live not to mention Living and Ryan's Hope. They need to bring back the daytime soaps. They were a lot better than all this reality tv crap which they edit so much for ratings so I wouldn't call it reality. One Life to Live was one of my favorite soaps growing up. I think I was 6 when I first started watching it back in the 80s. I had the biggest crush on Max Holden aka James Depiva and Cord Roberts. haha

I get chills at 3:00. I can't explain it but it just doesn't feel like a classic to me compared to the previous ones, and yet it was over a decade ago. So refreshing...
Pie this is the one I remember most, my mom watched these, and I started watching with her at age 15
I miss watching Viki and Dorian. Thank god for UA-cam to remember the glory days of them fighting
0:23 - 0:40 I always remember my great grandmother watching that show with the sunrise on it. It looked so peaceful I always wanted to jump into the tv and go there.
In a good happy and sad way past present future these theme songs give you chills down your spine

I loved OLTL, for one reson: TODD, TODD, TODDDDD! The original Todd. Loved him and Blair together. And he was foine, scar and all.

The third opening from 1980 to 1984 was probably the best of them all.

My mother religiously watched One Life and GH right after for years from the time I was a small girl 170 right up to when she passed in her sleep in 2010. She watched these two shows.,
I remember the first one! I was annoyed when they changed it. I would get home from swimming lessons at that time when I was a kid in the summer and we would eat lunch and watch OLTL.

The 90s opening was the most sexy, dreamy ever in daytime.
Every theme of OLTL was great from 1968-95, my favorite has to be 1991-95, along with the 1980-84 theme.

My favorite intro has to be the Peabo Bryson one. I loved the beat to it and the photos of the cast flashed to the beat. Some of the latter intros were good but hated the one during the time Linda Gottlieb was the producer. I loved her Dirty Dancing movie but she didn't do OLTL justice.
I wasn't watching it anymore by the time they dropped the Peabo Bryson theme, but if I had been, I would have been SOOO upset! Best theme song ever!
I never did like that "New Age" opening that ran from 1992 to 1995 - I never understood how it tied into the life of the residents of Llanview-
Especially since none of the people in the opening were on the show. But I did love the music.

I was glad when they added the actors/actresses' headshots to the opening sequences - that lets me know who's still with the show and who isn't-
My favorite was the one with the lyrics and the last two. I remember when I stayed at my grandmother's house when I was out of school and she would watch this at 2pm on abc. Gosh the memories.

Strictly speaking of the music and not the visuals, I like the late 80s one (following the vocal one). The one with the flutes. Nice melody that I remembered, all these years later! (I love the cheesy orchestral theme music from the 80s era of soaps. AW and GH. I also don't think they should change themes for these shows. Having the same one keeps the continuity. DOOL's opening can make me cry! Nice memories of watching with my mom and sister, in '85 or so)
Love the theme song of the late 80's, but my favorite is the circa 1993 one with the champage. I know its kinda cheesy and racy for that time, but it's so soap opera! This was when people were watching soaps! Sigh! Still a soap fan, but I miss those days

There were so many memorable characters on OLTL, but the ones that I enjoyed the most were (the original) Todd, Roxy, John McBain, and Lindsay.
I love the theme from the years 92-94 I believe. That was when I first started watching in its era. The theme was so catchy and sexy. I would always stop what I’m doing to just listen to it.
In my college dorm in the late 70s, the TV lounge was filled to overflowing from noon til 3 for AMC, OLTL, and GH. I was Guiding Light myself, so had to seek elswhere.

WOW! I was singing my Mom the opening of sequence #5 the other day and she couldn't believe I remembered it. I brought this up and it was like a trip through my entire childhood. I always thought the furthest theme back that I remembered was the 4th theme of "Rainbows End" without lyrics. But when I saw the sunrise and seagulls of the third sequence, a flood of memories came in! I must have been about five years old. Thanks so much for posting this! It really brought back great memories.

On “One Life To Live”, the first opening was the crackling fireplace that lasted from Monday, July 15, 1968 to April 1975, the second opening was the mountaintop sunrise from April 1975 to Friday, December 5, 1980, the third opening was first the fast sunrise, second the flying birds in the sky and then the sky view from Monday, December 8, 1980 to Friday, December 14, 1984.
My favorite theme is the 84-91 version followed by the 1995-2004 version

Wow! Watching this brings back tons of memories of watching OLTL with my mom! She's passed on now, but this was her favorite soap, right to the end. Seeing all the old credits is a great trip dowm memory lane. The one with the seagulls was my earliest memories of OLTL! My favorite was the one in the 80's by Peabro Bryson! Snoop Doggs latest take on the theme was great also! Thanks for the soap memory!

This is great. I have so much respect for this show, its history and how far it has come. I personally grew up with the second to last intro but love watching old clips and getting a better understanding of where everyone's coming from to this day on the screen. :)
