- While Julia Louis-Dreyfus has scored an Emmy for her role as Vice President Selina Meyer in 'Veep', most people know and love Julia for the role she played for nine seasons on 'Seinfeld', Elaine Benes.
She really was brilliant as Elaine Benes, her acting was spot on and there is not a single scene where the facade crumbles.
+MaTtRoSiTy.. Yeah on the final cut, but Julia was well known for having an incredibly tough time keeping it together while on set and shooting Seinfeld. I am sure you have seen the behind the scenes and bloopers. Michael Richards has expressed that Julia would have such a hard time keeping it together that he would get really annoyed and angry with her at times lol.. Not that I blame her though, I would've been cracking up all the time too! lol.. But no one can deny her abilities. She is just so beautiful, funny, charismatic, and talented. I am so glad I was able to enjoy Seinfeld every week during the 90's.
Totally agree, I was just thinking about that. Her facial expressions, body language etc.. in a cast of very strong actors (basically anyone who was ever on the show) she was the stand out. I find it amazing that almost every small role or cameo was so well done. The casting and whatever their process (getting performances) worked near perfectly. Julia also such a beautiful, sexy woman. Have to mention that😉
....she cracked up all the time. Was either laughing or grinning at the jokes almost in every scene. But that’s part of the reason why the show was fun and funny. Seinfeld was a horrible actor, she was a horrible actor, the others played doofuses, so it was just plain hilarious. Check out the episodes with Georges girlfriend before they killed her off, she was genuinely both funny and a good actor. Elaine is just a SNL sketch character in comparison.
... Not that there is anything wrong with that!
kashgarinn She was and isn’t a horrible actor wtf
Could not even imagine Seinfeld without Julia!! Some of the funniest skits were with her. Superb comedic actress.
IW Nunn The Christmas card one with George lol
I like to think that Jerry, Julia, Jason and Michael are the television equivalent to John, Paul, George and Ringo.
Ooh, so...I understand you're buying new shoes now at Botticelli's...
What? Who told you that?
Gail Cunningham
...I don't understand, why is this woman talking about my shoes? Why are my shoes a topic of conversation?
Get Out of Here *shove*
I always love her meltdown when she was buying socks for Mr Pitt. What do you want!!!!!
Seinfeld is the greatest sitcom of all time, hands down.
I have the entire dvd Seinfeld collection.
Curb
Iconic show. But let’s not forget how goddamned funny *Get Smart & The Jeffersons* was//is & forever will be, as well.
ONE OF THE GREATEST ITS AMAZING BUT NOT THE BEST
No way. It's good, but mainly white ppl like it. Others races never really watched it. Its like friends lol
She looks great 15 years after the show ended. She must lead a very healthy lifestyle.
Like natalie portman looks better with age.
She's rich so she can afford a 200 jar of moisturizer, Botox, fillers, lasor treatments... Must be nice to afford all that and barely age. I think she's had surgery too. Her eyes look like they are less hooded than they used to be
@@headbanger2867 rich people can afford to stay looking youthful
She keeps fit and avoid carbs and tobacco.
@@headbanger2867 Natalie’s prime was 2002-2005
JLD is a genius. Seinfeld, Veep, Christine. Everything she touches is perfect.
A multi billion empire heiress genius, she literally could have done nothing but she achieved anyway.
@@andrewhaywood1770 Rich people are ambitious. And only in Seinfeld and Old Christine she was success. She tried a movie but I was horrible.
@@pedrojulio1960 bro, she won six consecutive emmys for Veep. you don’t know what you’re talking about.
I agree!!
I think i was the only one who liked "Watching Elli". I liked Christine too but it was always on the verge of being canceled ever since season 2 and was eventually canceled after season 6. Hard to say that show was a success. I heard nothing but good things about Veep. I don't have hbo but would like to see it.
Thank you Julia for all the laughter and happiness u have brought into my life
when things got bad, watching seinfeld always gave me such laughs
I watched Seinfeld on loop when I was sick for a month. Kept me going.
she's so real and pretty
She's so 60fps.
also a billionare.
Sheena Ahmed you too, wow.. so pretty
Best show ever made I'll stand by that till the day I die
here here Phillip!!
This show and Frasier were my favorites!
Absolutely big emotional attachment to Seinfeld. I miss the excitement of watching new episodes. God it was utterly brilliant
Brilliant. I watched it the day it premiered on NBC. Me and my middle school friends..it was before any of us had cable. We loved it fromDay 1 and I still love it. Some episodes are comedic perfection. NBC has EVERY hit comedy back then.
I've rewatched Seinfeld so many times and still find new jokes, background stuff and other things that I missed the first 20 times 🙂Like that George has a kind of vermin cage with tubes of many colours, a hamster perhaps? Two hamsters? Mouse? Who knows. He feeds it with food pellets in season 7 when together with Susan.
Dreyfus brought class and talent to that show and elevated it far above what it would have been without her.
STELLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
Elaine you were my fav character!!!! just love all that u do!!!!
iam a dedicated fan of seinfeld..up till today i watch an episode with my morning coffee,i have lost coun how many times i have seen it!!
Elena N.Akasha I do the same in the morning, but Georgie boy for me for laughs. Both great actors tho😉
Lol that episode was just on tonight
I was crazy about Seinfeld. Since, cable tv was something new here in Brazil at the time, I could watch one episode every day. The 'Seinfeld' finale episode was broadcast simultaneously with the US here too by Sony Channel. And of course, I felt as an orphan after its end.
Elaine's stuff are some of my favorite moments. The scenes with Puddy are priceless.
Yes! And her scene in the subway is next level 😂😂😂
Thank you Julia for all the joy you've given us on Seinfeld.
"You sold us a hair, with a cake around it." Elaine Benes
Yes!
@@WildMan576 one ply!!!
Oh yah, that's womderful, trading some hair for phlegm
It is still the best show on TV
totally agree!
elaine was suchh an important character in seinfeld like seriously it makes the show much more universal and relatable for everyone
also julia looks so damn gorgroeus like always
She's a beautiful woman. Smart, intelligent and have a gracious humor. It's no wonder why she's married and a good mother. I wish to have a woman like her some day.
The Gaming Kitchen ....Katie??
as your mother?
Oh my god. I hope you can match her. You must be super smart, funny....
You sound like you’re shopping.
Gracious humor, you nailed it!
Had the biggest crush on Elaine !
Well I still do for that matter.
George had too. Her sexy voice...
Rosie O'Donnell as Elaine? Fuck the mere idea of that.
Why? All the fat? .
Joanna R Can I answer for Tom?
circuitdesign You sure can, Sunshine :)
Joanna R Aww, you called me Sunshine! :)
Well, I'm not sure where to start. OK, let's start with timing. Julia has a sense of timing that Rosie cannot compete with. Then there is facial expressiveness. Julia has demonstrated great mastery of facial expressions to convey the exact emotion her character was feeling in each part of her scenes on Seinfeld in such a way that the viewer can instantly know what is going through her character's mind. Rosie is pretty much dead-panned in her delivery, which is OK if you are doing black comedy, but she is dead-panned in everything she does. This tells me she does not have the talent to turn it on and off at will, which is the hallmark of a great performer. Should I continue?
Tom H Jerry wouldn't tap that hell beast , no matter what Larry said.
she ages well, like wine!
She gets hotter with age.
The way of the capricorn. They get younger with age.
her & Katie Couric
helps to be worth a few billion dollars, too
She's great, but imo she looked hotter in the early to mid 90's..
No, no one does
She's fantastic. Part of me will always love her haha. And I'll always be grateful for that incredible show. Those four people are kind of a part of my life hehehe.
I grew up watching this show. It'll always be my favorite show of all time.
The crazy thing is, Julia was a billionaire heiress before even starting the Seinfeld role.
@Vivek Verma lmao
Sue Ellen was a millionaire. Not billionaire lol
@@tim6167 a trillionaire.
Julia is worth a lot ($250 M) but not that much. Jerry however, passed the $1 BILLION mark this year (2021)
@@michaelbarnhart2593 her family has big money
Thank you Julia for giving me so much good feeling watching Seinfeld
Julia is great.
I love Seinfeld and all of the characters. Best show ever
She did a great job on the show, as did the writers.
I liked that she wasn’t just a sweet afterthought thrown in to make it less male centric. She held her own, had character and temperament and made the show much more dynamic.
She was put there as a sweet afterthought to make it less male centric
She is so gifted as a actress, really enjoy all her characters and natural sense of humor.
Thank you for all the fun and laughs. And for being a decent person. 👍😇🙏❤️
*Jerry along with Julia, Michael & Jason were like the Beatles of sitcoms.*
Julia was the best person to play Elaine
I don't think Julia uses Botox. She is so beautiful
She is fantastic
What a beautiful woman. Classy. Funny. Elegant. Beautiful energy.
SEINFELD my #1 sitcom still in 2018! Loved her, I guess is obvious , right? :-) This sitcom was so unlike everytying else back then. Would love to see a reunion episode. Glad that she went on creating new accomplishments on tv on her own, after the show,
Larry David is the genius here. He understood Julia's idiosyncrasies and the dialogue timing with co- actors on the show. Perfect fit. She wasn't so great in other shows afterwards.
I watched two episodes of Christine and couldn’t do it.
However, she’s brilliant in Veep.
She broke the Seinfeld curse. She had two hit shows after.
Jerry Seinfeld has Comedians in Cars getting coffee.
Jason alexander never really got anything after and Michael richards...... yah he definitely had some issues post Seinfeld
I like to think Larry David pitched the character of Elaine as Jerry’s ex flame, he throws out Rosie O’Donnel’s name and Jerry stares at Larry David, shakes his head and says, “No.....”
Julia is easily My fav of all bloopers / "clips". Her laugh is contagious and she stands out from all the sitcoms I watched back in the 90s . There is not many people who could keep it straightfaced working with the incredible Jerry Stiller (rip). That whole scene is incredible in the show but seeing the out-takes and Julia laughing and Jason on the floor is absolute heart warming joy. Her scenes and out takes with Michael are also hilarious espc as Michael took it so serious (a regret he shared on comedians in cars...) and appeared annoyed that Julia would be wasting time /takes. But I would be like Jimmy fallon just so happy to be there hehe
Can you imagine Rosie O'Donnell turning to Jerry and saying "Alright, i'll give you half an hour."
No.
YuuuUCH!
She has such a humble personality, I don't know if it's real, but she just seems humble. Type of person I'd like to meet.
She was not humble character.Like a ridículas feminists.
Elaine and Kramer were the best casted parts on Seinfeld!!! and wow is Julia beautiful!!!
Most beautiful woman in the world. Funny. Sophisticated. Sexy. Self-concious. Humble. Intelligent. And straight-up fucking gorgeous. Julia for President.
Humble is the keyword here. If she wasn't humble I could care less about her.
I will never get tired of this amazing show. Imagine if Jerry had decided to do some more episodes.
I think going out on top, with people clamoring for more was the right move. Imo , there are no bad seasons like most other shows.
We just finished watching Curb....... yikes, some of those last seasons😲😖😖😖
She's 52 at the time of this interview and still looking great.
It's amazing that she looks almost exactly the same since the show ended
Loved her in Seinfeld, she was kind of the female George. Could be so insanely petty and neurotic like George but she carried that character with such confidence and believed in herself that was absent from George.
Calling Elaine a "female George" is kinda demeaning... these two characters are vastly different.
No she was NOT the female George Castanza at all. They were completely different. And SUPER Funny 😄
We were all intrigued by the brilliant writing of that show.
And the amazing performing as well.
Gawd I am so in love with Julia. She is not only great comedian but also a gorgeous woman
Rosie ODonnel as Elaine? Dear goddd
Elaine is probably my all time favorite character from TV.
I loved her during this era. This was right before I started noticing her personality change. I don't know what it is, I just feel like after she won that 2nd Emmy in a row for Veep, she got a bigger head. She started believing all the reviews that were being written about her or something. She was much humbler even after she won an Emmy for New Adventures of Old Christine in '06. Things changed so much in Hollywood in 2013-14, so many icons died, Netflix started producing original content that was taken seriously, a lot of the cable network shows started ending Breaking Bad, Mad Men, etc. I don't know, I feel that everything is so different in Hollywood nowadays that it's even making the celebrities act weirder, and the full on effect of social media has catapulted everything 10x.
that's around the time that live cable television started dying out and streaming took over.
Seinfeld, it’s always sunny, & the office. I enjoyed the most
don't try to copy. just be your self. be your self is king to me. i don't care what you rant about, just be your self. i may listen. if your relaxed, i will listen.
Her facial expression was priceless when she played her role.
Funniest scenes in Seinfeld were always with Elaine. One of the funniest was finding out about her "Dancing" skills, just brilliant😂😂😂
Eh. Wrong. Kramer.
Seinfeld is my favorite show of all time and is hands down the greatest sitcom of all time, it’s really not close. But I bet Julia is so sick of talking about the show all the time. Curse of being a part of something that famous.
She’s so authentic and I loved the big hair!
A lot of respect for Julia. She had the greatest range on Seinfeld I thought. Just great, and for those who don't know, her dad was a billionaire. So, she truly acted for the craft. Not the money
Do a lot of people get into acting for the money? If they do they don’t know what their doing. If you said she wasn’t doing it for the fame I would have been impressed, and perplexed.
She just gets hotter as the years go on
2021 and Seinfeld is still not dated. Awesome. Best show ever on TV. Why no movie?
Great show, with very talented artists
She should have legally changed her name to Elaine Benes. She will always be Elaine to me.
+TheJellymonty Same.
what? xD
No, she went from that to be Selina Meyer now.
you sound gay
obeythed2 same
Julia Louis-Dreyfus laughter and tears from laughing. thank you.
Elaine..."is it posible that you're more beautyfull than the last time i saw you?"
"elaine" she has the best laugh of any woman. not any woman in character , a real woman.
Katie Couric asks her guests questions and then she keeps on talking, really? I really wanted to hear what "Elaine" had to say but every time she started talking, you had to interrupt.. how did you ever get in broadcasting??
i love jules's reaction to the question, "Ugghh, this question again?"
Easily my favorite TV actress of all time, one of my favorites comedic actresses as well.
I just didn't want this interview to end without Julie saying....he took it out..lol
Love the show, still watching all the reruns, Elaine phenomenal 😍
She was HOT in Seinfeld. Still is.
These two women have gotten better looking with age.
I got an idea for an interviewer..... ask a question then spend your time answering it yourself, and make sure you talk over them!
My whole heart belong to this show
I don’t think Katie Couric has reached the pinnacle of being boring. You can see it in Julia’s face.
I'm glad she accepted the offer. I'm sure that making this life choice is something beyond any regret !
old julia with new julia hair would be a good combo. that 90s hair did her no justice
If Rosie O' had made the cut, Seinfeld would have gotten the "Cut"!
It usually ruins a show when they try to push a gender in it just for the sake of equality of being to “male centric” but Julia played her part so well, and was so hilarious that she enhanced the show.
Julia is so classy!
Larry "do you wanna do it?" Jeez she is so cool.
I think she was one of the most adorable and cute/beautiful actress in 90s-American-Sitcoms
Dear god she's good-looking. She really does improve over time. And to think she has a son who is a big-ass college basketball player.
It’s not what you know, it’s who you know lol
Before answering this question, her silence read : I need to go through this again, what do I have to do to move on and have questions on my newer achievements! That's what the teary eyes were for.
Such a nice and funny person. So many actors seem like a let down when you see their real personality but that's not the case with Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
The beauty of this show was the breathed of its appeal i’m 89 but i
can exchange lines with my 28 year
old grandson and we play this game
of knowing where they were used.
o other show had that breathed of
appeal.
Her dancing is brilliant!
Americas sweetheart. Legend. She hotter now than when she was 23 on snl or 33 on Seinfeld. Amazing woman.
A lot of actors reject the roles that make them famous - because they want to grow beyond that. Even though she's had successful shows since (Veep, New Adventures), it's great to see she doesn't run away from her part in Seinfeld, and recalls it with affection and pride.
Julia always looks super sharp.
I'm watching Seinfeld now, Currently season 5 I'm loving it! From France, my English has improved a lot.
SPOILER ALRRD: seinfell and jorge KISS on the last episode ‼️‼️‼️
Katie's laugh is the most sinister of laughs. Pla dont give her any more talk shows.
Please start up sienfeld again. You guys are legends of comedy. I keep watching your shows over and over again on Netflix... It makes me happy if I don't watch a single episode I seriously get sad and my day sucks.
Elaine was best female charecters in sitcom
Julia is not only beautiful she is extremely quick witted as well. She really knows how to get the ketchup out of the bottle.
The total package to light your fire!🔥
She is so lucky to get to be Elaine in Seinfeld.. must have been a lot of fun
